From A to B Rails carry and guide rail vehicles: trams, trains and cranes. Kilometres and kilometres of rail connect harbours to cities and cities to villages. It forms the basis for the storage, transfer and carriage of goods and for the transport of passengers. Day and night, railways give passage to large and heavy vehicles with important loads. In order to secure that people and goods arrive at their destination as quickly and as safely as possible, the materials and their application have to comply with stringent requirements. Bolidt has proven its ability to meet these requirements.

Both traditional and embedded Bolidt is a significant player in both of these areas of rail construction. In the traditional field, Bolidt glues canted bearing plates on timber sleepers. Bolidt can also effectuate sound reduction by adding a purpose-developed synthetic. In the field of embedded rail construction, Bolidt applies a formulated synthetic resin compound to support the rails. This reduces maintenance requirements and provides durability, flexibility, sound reduction and vibration reduction.


Both light and heavy rail

Both light and heavy rail Within the traditional and embedded rail construction industry, Bolidt offers solutions for both light and heavy rail. Some examples are: the construction and application of level crossing slabs ERS, rail slabs, concrete or steel roadways, tunnels and so-called Harmelen slabs, flexible casting-in of rails and glueing of anchors, Felderman constructions and canted bearing plates. A wide range of applications that is continuously expanded by Bolidt.


From then up to now In the 45 years of its existence, Bolidt has acquired ample experience throughout the world in developing and applying rail systems and products for rail systems. On the development side, a team including mechanical engineers, chemical analysts and process technologists works in close cooperation. The quality of existing and new products is strictly monitored. Bolidt also employs application specialists. Highquality material counts for nothing if it is not applied properly. The importance of precision and workmanship is recognized by all Bolidt employees.


Both durable and cost-reducing


Both durable and cost-reducing The materials that are used in rail construction and their implementation have to meet strict requirements. This is hardly surprising, given that rails have to last for decades and their quality has to be undisputed. A minimal defect can cause a maximum disaster. Therefore, rails and their fastening have to be able to withstand large pull and push forces, heavy static loads, vast differences in temperature and a high traffic intensity. Because of a high frequency of use, it is also important that rails are laid in the shortest time possible and that they require minimal maintenance. An additional advantage of a short construction time and low maintenance material is that life cycle costs are reduced. Several professionals have confirmed that Bolidt amply meets in all these areas.

From rail consultant to contractor After innumerable tests well known rail consultants concluded that Bolidt’s Embedded Rail System (ERS) comfortably meets the set standard for technical qualities. Bolidt has reached this level of quality through many years of research and large investments. Deltarail (formerly AEA Technology) tested properties including the bedding constant, elasticity and fatigue of the material. Even axle loads of sixty tonnes were tested. In the bedding constant test, the flexure of the rail system under a moving or stationary axle load was examined. In this test it is important that the bedding constant remains constant over a wide temperature range. The elasticity test examined whether an embedded rail also remains fixed to the synthetic compound longitudinally if force is put on the transverse side. Finally, in the fatigue test the synthetic compound was tested for its resistance to variable loads such as the ones that occur under used rails. The positive results of above-mentioned tests led to Bolidt being the first and only company to receive an official release.

The fact that the company manages all activities within the industrial column of synthetic systems internally – development, production, sales and processing – enables a mentality like this. No synthetic system alike Bolicast RI Bolicast RI is an epoxy resin modified compound. As a result of the fact that this product has been developed in consultation with its users, it has the qualities that are required in practice. Bolicast RI is a low viscosity product, both at low and at high temperatures. It is available in a small 750 ml tube and in a 300 l unit. Special equipment has been developed for processing the product. Bolicast E 4747 Bolicast E 4747 is a highly pressure-resistant grouting mass. The preparation method for this product has been perfected by more than 40 years of experience. It is suitable for minimal but also for substantial layer thicknesses. In addition, Bolicast E 4747 has an adjustable viscosity and it is shrink-proof. Bolicast E Bolicast E is a versatile epoxy-based casting compound. It is highly pressure-resistant and easy to process. Bolicast E can be applied in variable layer thicknesses. Due to its composition this product is extremely stable and strong after setting. The material can bear heavy static axle loads without deforming. Bolirail PU 23159 Bolirail PU 23159 is an embedding compound that has been developed on the basis of thorough knowledge of rail constructions. The product is the result of years of research. Bolirail PU 23159 has a bedding constant that shows little variation over a wide temperature range. This high-tech compound also has a great pull and tear strength, is electrically insulating and reduces vibrations and noise pollution. The fact that Bolirail PU 23159 meets all the standards set, contributed to Bolidt receiving an official release. Bolirail PU 15943 Bolirail PU 15943 is an embedding compound for light rail applications. This product’s great pull and tear strength provide it with a guaranteed durability. It adheres well to steel and concrete. In addition, it is economically attractive, easy to process and electrically isolating. Bolirail PU 27051 Bolirail PU 27051 has been developed for axle loads of 60 tonnes and busy forklift traffic with axle loads of up to 85 tonnes. This synthetic resin compound has an extremely high pull and tear strength and a highly invariable bedding constant over a wide temperature range. The embedded rail concept with Bolirail PU 27051 has ideal flexure properties. These produce a minimum of tension in the casting compound. Bolirail PU A70 Bolirail PU A70 is a polyurethane modified grouting mass that provides flexible and durable support to rail constructions. This product can also be optimally processed at low temperatures, in both small and considerable layer thicknesses. The synthetic resin compound has been designed in a way that mixing it is easy and visible. Bolidense HLM Bolidense HLM is a vibration damping compound. It benefits both passengers and nearby residents. A sophisticated formula produces an optimum result. This product is available as a filler, an injection mass, a casting compound and even in strips. Bolidense HLM adheres extremely well to steel and concrete.
