-By: Colleen Hillerup The cinemas have seen a fair share of con men lately, including Hrithik Roshan in Kites and the team of Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan in Rascals. But none are as prolific or romantic as Ranveer Singh’s Ricky Bahl. Ricky is not just a ladies’ man, he’s a different man with every lady, accumulating cash through his various cons. That is, until he meets the woman played by his Band Baaja Baaraat costar Anushka Sharma. The pair hope to recapture the magic of their popular and award winning first film, which featured not only the two stars but also director Maneesh Sharma and producer Aditya Chopra, who this time penned the story as well. This is Ranveer Singh’s first film since he debuted, for which he won a number of Best Male Debut awards, including Filmfare and IIFA. In this brief interval, he has rebuilt his body to be even more muscular, something the ad campaign for the film capitalizes on with the slogan “Ladies Beware! Ricky Bahl is coming” superimposed over a shot of his shirtless physique. The ladies appreciate it. Other female stars of the film include Aditi Sharma and newcomers Shireesh Sharma and Parineeta Chopra. Chopra is the cousin of popular leading lady Priyanka Chopra and was discovered while working in the Yash Raj marketing department. Each lady sports a definitive look, from buttoned up business executive to country girl salwar. There’s no one definitive look for Ricky the chameleon. In the video for the song ‘Aadat Se Majboor’ he portrays a tennis player, a waiter, a hairdresser, a chef, a rock singer, a hospital patient and a shoe salesman – each while romancing a different lady. As the words to the song say, “You never see him coming, he just switches his clothes.” He’s living one day at a time, “Que Sera Sera”, what will be will be, until he meets Anushka. Her character is featured in the video for the perky number ‘Jazba’, focusing on her beautiful, expressive face and exuberant demeanor. While the pair deny any off screen romance, they have undeniable onscreen chemistry. They promoted the upcoming film on Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati show, winning money for charity, and will appear on the red carpet at the Dubai International Film Festival, where Ladies V/S Ricky Bahl is the gala presentation in the Celebration of Indian Cinema programming track. The film releases worldwide Dec 9th and fans locally can see the film at Albion & Woodside Cinemas.

Deepika confirmed hottie in 'Race 2'... Phew!!! Finally all rumors about the female cast in Race 2 comes to an end, with Deepika Padukone confirming the news that she is in it. Deepika has been the original choice of the makers and they are very glad they have her finally. A source says, “After Katrina Kaif ’s sizzling chemistry in Race, the producers and directors were keen to take the sizzle quotient to the next level in the sequel. And Deepika has that oomph and sex appeal to take that
chemistry a couple of notches ahead.” Citing date issues, Deepika opted out of Race 2. However, the dates sorted out and DP herself has confirmed her presence in the film. She is being paid a huge fee, too. Now, with Deepika being a part of the film, she will be acting opposite Saif Ali Khan, marking this as her forth film with the actor. Deepika tweets, “And the ‘RACE’ begins…”. She has started shooting for the flick already. The movie hit theaters late 2012.

Chitrangada Singh turns sexy for ‘Joker’!
Till last year, it was Katrina Kaif, who kept winning the title, Asia’s sexiest woman but this year, things are not the same. According to a survey conducted by Eastern Eye, this year’s sexiest Asian woman is Kareena Kapoor. The survey was conducted through various social networking sites. Eastern Eye showbiz editor Asjad Nazir said: “This battle between the two beauties is a sign of things to come in Bollywood in the next few years. Although the list contained pop stars, TV personalities, models and film stars from around the world, the voting quite comprehensively showed that Kareena and Katrina have put a distance between themselves and the rest of the contenders in terms of popularity.”
Below is the list of the top ten sexiest Asian women.. 1. Kareena Kapoor 2. Katrina Kaif 3. Priyanka Chopra 4. Bipasha Basu 5. Freida Pinto
6. Aishwarya Rai 7. Deepika Padukone 8. Humaima Malik 9. Sonam Kapoor 10. Noureen Dewulf

The item number is titled Kaafirana. The filmmakers were keen on roping in a fresh face who could add a bit of raunchiness to the song, hence, Chitrangada fit the role perfectly. Chitrangada’s number has been choreographed by Farah Khan. Joker has another item number pictured on the film leading lady, Sonakshi Sinha, choreographed by Saroj Khan. The film, which is slated for a June release, next year, has Akshay Kumar in the lead.

her on her Utv Stars’ chat show ‘Up, Close and Personal with Pz’. “Cities” reunites Dunst and Bloom after they starred together in Cameron Crowe’s “Elizabethtown” in 2005. In New York, a hedge fund manager (played by Owen) has everything he wants – money, sex and power, but he wants more. In London, a young couple just want to buy their first home, but it seems impossibly out of reach. In Mumbai, a cop fights against corruption between property speculators and his villainous colleague Seth (played by Kapoor). Stories will all collide in a world where the fortunes of individuals are interwoven with the lives of others across the globe.

n the film Rab Na Bana Di Jodi, Vinay Pathak played the hipper best friend of Shahrukh Khan’s common man Surinder. In Pappu Can’t Dance Saala, the new film from director Saurabh Shukla, it’s Pathak’s turn to play the Pappu. His character Vidyadhar is a conservative man from the holy city of Banaras who finds himself sharing rooms with a Bollywood background dancer played by Neha Dhupia. This clash of lifestyles and personalities leads to a comedic journey. The director calls it a “comic love story... of an odd couple.” According to producer Ravindra Singh, “Both the cultures are poles apart.” The comedy of clashing cultures is the second release by the production company R Vision India Ltd. and the first commercial film
for director Shukla. Also in the cast are handsome character actor Rajat Kapoor and a special appearance by Naseerudin Shah. Kapoor plays a choreographer, even though he admittedly can’t dance. In fact, he broke his foot working on the film. He seems to be playing the same type of sleazy charmer, though in a comic way, that he did in Monsoon Wedding, asking a group of women he’s auditioning to ‘take your tops off..’ He was drawn to the project by the quality of the script, which he calls “very, very good.” The director also acts in the film, and as an actor has a special relationship with his performers. This is a benefit to such a character driven comedy. Though the actors say that he has quite a different personality depending on whether he is behind or in front of the camera. The music for the film is by first time film composer Malhaar. The title is taken from a popular song introduced in the film Janne Tu... Ya Janne Na, a title taken in turn from a song in the film Aa Gale Lag Laa. However, neither of these songs appears in Pappu. Leading lady Neha did not come from a filmi family. She started working on TV in 1999 and became Miss India in 2002, before coming in the top ten in the Miss Universe pageant. She went on to do Telugu and Pakistani films, and was one of the leads in the American television mini-series Chris Kattan: Bollywood Hero. She defines what Pappu means. “Not every man can become a Pappu. First, you cannot be handsome. Next, you cannot have muscles, you can’t dance, you cannot know how to woo girls and you cannot be desirable.” Viraj is not offended by the definition, seeing himself as an average man. “These days it’s very difficult to be simple and nice.” But worth it.

The History of Albion and Woodside Cinemas
................................................................................................... - By: Poonam Gupta “Cinemas should make you forget that you are sitting in a movie theatre,” Roman Polanski, the French -Polish film maker once said. For us South Asians, watching Bollywood films is a heavenly ritual where time stands still and we are transported back to our home and native land. Earlier it was the Naaz or Donlands theatre in Toronto that helped us stay connected but for the last two decades or so it has been Albion and Woodside cinemas that cater to our filmi needs. The films shown here are in several regional languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telegu, Bengali and Punjabi. Sitting thousands of miles away from India we enjoy the latest and greatest films with our friends and family along with coke, popcorn and spicy samosas. The Albion Cinema was taken over by Golden Theatres in December 1992. It was initially converted to a discount Hollywood theatre. A year later, on weekends the space was rented out to show midnight screenings of certain Bollywood movies. Surprisingly, the response for these late night shows was staggering, so in the weekends following, both the 9pm and midnight shows were rented out to show Bollywood movies. Sold out shows were testimonies to the desires of thousands to sit back and enjoy their favorite actor or actress on a big screen. The success led Albion Cinemas to fully convert to a Bollywood theatre and apply for the rights to show all the latest Bollywood movies through Eros Entertainment. This UK based company is the biggest distributor in the world for Bollywood movies. Further demand for Bollywood movies spurred the desire to expand and in 1995 Woodside Cinema in Scarborough was taken over by Golden Theatres and converted to a Bollywood theatre. This location provided convenience for movie goers who lived east of the city. Bollywood fans now had a theatre to call their own both on the east and west side of Toronto. One of the first major blockbusters came in April of 1994 with the movie 1942 Love Story. The movie played for several weeks and received a huge response from audiences throughout the GTA with back-to-back sold out shows. The song ‘Ek ladki ko dekha to aisa laga...”on the lips of many could be heard from the exit doors of the theatre.
However, what may be the biggest movie to ever release in Albion Cinemas was the huge hit Hum Aap Ke Hain Kaun. This too was in 1994 and the lineups could be seen around the block. Shop owners and mall management could hardly believe the incredible number of people that would gather every day to try to get tickets to the movie. The film ended up running for a record breaking fifty-one weeks at Albion Cinemas! The idea that a movie would play in theatres for almost a year is almost unheard of these days. With a growing Bollywood audience, Golden Theatres began receiving requests to show Tamil movies. Again starting off with only a few shows, Woodside Cinemas slowly started increasing its number of Tamil movies and today dedicates one full screen, seven days a week, to Tamil movies and their dedicated fans. Punjabi, Bengali and Telegu movies are also shown at both Albion & Woodside Cinemas from time to time. With its enormous 1,300 seat capacity, Albion Cinemas has also hosted several concerts and live events including the recent Ghulam Ali show which was a great success. Over the years, management has tried very hard to keep Bollywood and Bollywood theatres alive. “We know entertainment can be expensive these days, and we have always offered the lowest price movies in Toronto with our current matinee & Tuesday tickets at only $6.50. We want to encourage the entire family to come out and enjoy Bollywood,” said one of the partners in the company. What the future holds for Bollywood in Toronto and our Bollywood theatres is still to be seen. However, Golden Theatres plans to continue catering to Bollywood fans and as a testament has recently spent over half a million dollars replacing all their seating to new luxurious high back seats and upgrading their sound to digital DTS. With this type of investment one can hope that audiences will be thrilled to return repeatedly to enjoy their favorite movies and keep Bollywood theatres alive and well. Lets not sit at home but instead enjoy the social experience of going out together as a family to a flick, unwind, relax and connect with our roots on the big screen.

Opinion on Himesh Reshammiya the actor may be divided. But there’re no two ways about Himesh the Musician. Ever since Himesh reversed his earlier stubborn and stupid decision to sing and compose only in films that feature him as an actor, a floodgate of opportunities have opened up for the rhythmic Reshammiya. His biggest musical challenge is the international album @ Da Edge for which he has already recorded a remix track with Romanian musician Edward Maya. Himesh just got even more ambitious. His international album will now feature a duet, an original
composition, with American rapper Lil Wayne. Wayne who is widely regarded as the most successful rapper in the world, has sold approximately 10 million albums across the world. In 2012’s edition of the Guinness Book Of World Records, Lil Wayne is mentioned as the record-holder for the ‘Most US Hot-100 Hits By A Rap Artist With 64 Hits Between 1999 and 2010.” Himesh invited Lil Wayne to contribute to @ Da Edge. The two are now working on a song entitled ‘Come To Me Now’. It will be released not only as part of Himesh’s album but also as a single in the US for fans of Lil Wayne. Through them (Wayne’s fans) Himesh hopes to establish a musical market in the US. The Wayne - Reshammiya single ‘Come To Me Now’ will release next year.

Aishwarya Rai becomes the first Indian to get her second wax statue. A new wax statue of Ash was unveiled at the world famous Madame Tussauds museum in Blackpool. The statue is a part of the special Bollywood tour exhibition planned by the museum. While in the first statue, Ash was seen wearing Indian attire, here she is seen in an elegant and classy Western gown. The look is inspired from Ash’s red carpet appearance at the Cannes premiere of Robin Hood in 2010, for which she wore an Elie Saab gown. Actors Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan’s statues will also be on display alongside Ash’s. After Aishwarya Rai, Kareena is the second heroine from Bollywood to have a wax statue at Madame Tussauds.

Anil Kapoor, who appeared in the final season of popular US drama series ’24’, has signed a Rs 100 crore deal with 20th Century Fox to remake the show for Indian television, taking the lead role of antiterrorist agent Jack Bauer. In 2006, the movie Don: The Chase Begins Again had jaws dropping and people gasping in shock when Shah Rukh Khan’s character Vijay uttered the words “I like wild cats...” near the end of the film. At that moment we realized we had been so perfectly duped by Shah Rukh Khan’s superb acting, we never had the slightest inkling a major twist in the story was coming at us. As one of the top grossing Bollywood films of 2006, and with the unexpected twist that left audiences wondering what would happen next, Don: The Chase Begins Again absolutely warranted a sequel. The much anticipated Don 2: The Chase Continues is finally about to hit theatres in both 2D and 3D versions. Although the film was not originally shot in 3D, it was converted into 3D after filming. To recap where we left off in the first film, Shah Rukh Khan’s deliciously evil underworld character, Don, was hunted by law enforcement agencies in 11 countries. After a long chase in Malaysia, a seriously injured Don was captured by a single police officer. His capture and subsequent death while in custody were kept a secret in order to plant a look-alike amongst Don’s gang in hopes of flushing out bigger underworld figures. In order to help the police, Vijay, the look-alike, struggled to become Don and to live in a world he was both unaccustomed to and repulsed by. His only good fortune was meeting a woman named Roma, who initially came seeking revenge on Don for her brother’s death. The two eventually paired up after Vijay revealed he was a duplicate. In the final moments of the first film, Vijay is seriously beaten-up in an action scene in
which he manages to help capture and reveal to police that DCP De`Silva (Boman Irani) is also a major underworld boss named Varhaan. As Vijay is about to be taken away by ambulance, he appears to be losing consciousness and sweetly refers to Roma as a “wild cat” as they say their goodbyes. ”. With the ambulance pulling away, both Roma and movie viewers are suddenly hit with the shocking realization that the only person to ever privately refer to Roma as a “wild cat” was the real Don, and that we’ve been masterfully fooled by the Badshah of Bollywood. The movie then goes back in time with a short burst of clips explaining how the twist took place and how the real Don killed Vijay and switched places with him before he ever got to play the duplicate. In the new 2011 sequel Don 2: The Chase Continues, having conquered the Asian underworld in the first film, the action moves from Kuala Lumpur to Berlin. This time Don has his sights set on European domination. The only thing standing in his way are all the European underworld bosses and law enforcement agencies. To succeed, Don must avoid assassination and/or arrest. Languishing in a Malaysian prison, DCP De ‘Silva (Boman Irani) finds himself in an unexpected situation when Don comes calling with his hand out in friendship hoping the two can join forces - but can either of these men really be trusted? Roma (Pryanka Chopra) returns still seeking vengeance for her brother`s death and has joined Interpol in their search for Don. But are there still lingering feelings for Vijay, the innocent man Don tricked Roma into believing he was?
Mentoring Roma at Interpol is Malik (Om Puri). His life-long mission is to capture Don and he has dedicated many years of his life to pursuing him. Will he be successful in apprehending Don or become a pawn in Don`s hands? If the anticipation for Don 2 wasn`t enough on its own, early trailers for the film have everyone buzzing with excitement. The action is bigger and better with incredible chase scenes and explosions with Shah Rukh Khan performing spine chilling stunts. Shah Rukh Khan looks amazing with his perfectly chiselled six-pack and shoulder length hair while delivering his menacing, icy-cool dialogue. Star cast also includes Lara Dutta, Kunal Kapoor and Aly Khan with a cameo by Hrithik Roshan. Farhan Akhtar is back as director while Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy provide the music with lyrics by Javed Akhtar. The film was produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Shah Rukh Khan and Farhan Akhtar. Farhan would have liked Don 2: The Chase Continues to come out a bit earlier, but with so many other projects already in the works for both himself and Shah Rukh Khan, the wait was unavoidable. Just as Don is hoping for European domination, Shah Rukh Khan is hoping for global domination and success for this slick action/ thriller. Will Don’s master plan bring Europe to its knees? Get your family, your friends, a big bucket of popcorn and strap yourselves into your seats. It’s going to be a mind-blowing ride. Don 2: The Chase Continues hits theatres worldwide December 23 and fans locally can catch the movie at Albion & Woodside Cinemas.

have Hollywood movies showing interest in Bollywood” making it a truly global phenomenon. While the production flew in hundreds of their own crew to the locations, it also employed many local crewmembers as well. New Zealand actor Richard Whiteside and Russia’s Vyacheslav Razbegaev also feature in the cast. The location filming was featured on newscasts in both countries where it was reported on with great enthusiasm. The music in the film is composed by Pritam, who has been very busy lately, also writing the music for Mausam and Desi Boyz. The song featured in the trailer is very North American sounding, with lyrics in English and a great dance beat. The production is fully utilizing the internet in promotion of the film. The official website playersgoforgold.in.com is full of information, videos, photos and even features a contest. That may not be so unusual in this day and age, nor is a Facebook page for the film, but the twitter presence includes interactive interviews with the cast where fans can ask questions of the stars, in ‘twinterviews’, and cast members also tweet there periodically. It can be found @PlayersGo4Gold. Sure to be an exciting ride, fans can catch Players locally at Albion & Woodside Cinemas starting from January 6th.
- By: Colleen Hillerup True or not, Bollywood films have a reputation of stealing Hollywood ideas for their plots. If the plot and visuals of Players seem familiar, it is purely intentional, since Players is the official Indian adaptation The Italian Job, a British film from 1969 that was later remade by Hollywood in 2003. Like the Hollywood remake, the film is loaded with stars, including Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Bobby Deol, Sikander Kher, Johnny Lever and Omi Vaidya. If the stars aren’t enough to make the film a blockbuster, the locations will be. While only the original film was actually set in Turin, Italy and the remake in Los Angeles, Players features cities like Auckland, New Zealand and Murmansk, Russia. And if the stars and locations aren’t enough to excite the audience, Players is helmed by the veteran action team Abbas-Mastan, directors of hits like Baazigar and Race. The brothers Burmawalla had a reason for choosing this film – the original with Michael Caine was one of

their favourite films growing up. Now they have the chance to give their favourite movie a particularly Indian interpretation. Lead Abhishek Bachchan, whose character in the film, like Michael Caine’s, is named Charlie, says that the film is not just a western film with Indian actors, but that it is a true ‘masala’ movie with all the action and emotional range implied by the word. Bachchan is also a long-time fan of the Michael Caine film. The other cast members have new names, but their characters roughly correspond to those of the actors in the Hollywood version. Neil Mitin Mukesh brings his intensity to the villain Spider, the part played as Steve by Oscar nominee Edward Norton. Though according to Bipasha, who as Riya corresponds to Charlize Theron’s Stella, all the characters are ‘baddies’, all after the gold. Players is a heist film about using a massive traffic jam to steal a great amount of gold bullion then get away in tiny, brightlycoloured Mini Cooper cars. Or as the film’s trailer states, “Players – Let’s go for gold!” Bachchan says he’s happy to have two

leading ladies in the film, the other being Sonam Kapoor as Naina. Action must run in her blood, since her father Anil Kapoor will soon be seen in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol with Tom Cruise. There’s more evidence for that too, since Sonam and Bipashu are said to have done most of their own stunts. Taking the Seth Green role of Lyle is American-raised actor Omi Vaidya of Three Idiots fame. Rounding out the main cast is Sikander Kher as Bilal, son of Kirron Kher and stepson of Anupam and Bobby Deol as Ronnie, played in The Italian Job by Jason Statham as Handsome Rob. Players promises high-octane car and train chases and thrilling explosions. Bipasha Basu says that it’s “Suspense, not so much... More of an action thriller.” The unique take on this version is to keep it modern. The writers “pitched the film to 2012,” says Basu, setting it not only in the current time but making it relevant to today’s society. In fact, the film will be the first big release of the New Year. The film will be a “visual spectacular” says line producer Narang Desai. “Now you

Rishi Kapoor Turns Gay for Karan Johar!
Rishi Kapoor turns gay for Karan Johar Rishi Kapoor is all set to essay the role of a homosexual, in Karan Johar’s ‘Student Of The Year’. This is going to be the most unconventional character the actor has ever played. The role was initially given to Shahruk Khan. Says a trusted source, “For the first time in Rishi’s career, he will play a homosexual in Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year.” According to the source, Rishi plays the role of a dean in the film. He shares a very close and special relationship with Ronit Roy’s character. Rishi confirmed the news, “Yes, my character is soft on Ronit in Student Of The Year. Why not? I play the dean of the college. And yes, my character is gay. It’s one of the most important roles of my career at the moment. This is the time of my career when I get to experiment. I don’t want to play the conventional father. Besides, I can’t say no to Karan.”
Joker release date Confirmed To Arrive on 30th August, 2012 Plans have been confirmed for Joker. The Akshay Kumar-Sonakshi Sinha starrer fantasyadventure entertainer would be releasing all over on 30th August 2012. This development also puts an end to speculations around the film's eventual arrival, something that was making the rounds of trade and industry circles for last few weeks. While Siddharth Roy Kapur of UTV Motion Pictures confirmed the news, director Shirish Kunder added that plans for next 10 months have been chalked out. He said, "Yes, we have 15 days of shooting left which would be completed in November. Post that we would be working on VFX and 3D for six odd months and then last couple of months would be reserved for an all around promotional campaign." Joker had gone on floors early this year

and over 70% of the film has already been canned. Since the film is being shot in 3D, there has been added emphasis on getting the entire shot taking right in the very first go as the team can't afford to re-do anything. One wonders though what took the makers of Joker to wait for so long before making a formal announcement. After all a film starring Akshay Kumar typically gets completed in a jiffy and announcement of it's release plans are typically made well in advance, case in point being Desi Boyz, Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore and Khiladi 786 -Made In Punjab. "Well, the speed at which technology is growing, we wanted to make best use of what was available to us after we were through with the final schedule. We didn't want to announce a release date and then regret losing

out on something new that would have come up at a later stage", reasons Shirish, "Now that we are into the final schedule, it is time to get into post production pronto. We have the latest technology available to us now and we are going ahead with that. It would take us six more months to reach the finishing line now and hence 30th August is just apt." This development also means Akshay Kumar would now have a film of his releasing almost every second month starting April. While Housefull 2 (April) would be first to arrive, Rowdy Rathore ( June), Joker (August) and Khiladi 786 -Made In Punjab (November) would follow one after another. Meanwhile one also waits with bated breath to know about the arrival of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 which is most likely to move ahead of it's original August 2012 plans.

-By Joginder Tuteja EXPECTATIONS There are immense expectations from the music of Don 2 and there are quite a few reasons for that: - This is one of the most anticipated sequels of the current times and actually takes the story forward, hence almost warranting that good music would be the soul here - Music of Don - The Chase Begins is still playing, courtesy ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ which is popular despite being heard first half a decade ago - Music coming from the house of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani always promises a certain degree of class - Whenever Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Javed Akhtar have come together, they have seldom failed With such factors raising one’s expectations to a real high, nothing less than fantabulous is acceptable for the music of Don 2. MUSIC Shah Rukh Khan’s begins the album with a 35 second long monologue where he hints of his arrival all over again. In the current scenario, this could well be a statement from him to all his detractors (in real life as well) where he conveys the point loud and clear that he would never fade away in oblivion and it’s a matter of time that ‘he is back’. Next to arrive is the title song which goes as ‘Zaraa Dil Ko Thaam Lo’. This track basically picks thread from ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ and aims at bringing back the sound of the early 80s though in a fresh new presentation with clear inspiration from James Bond flicks. Nothing wrong with that as it actually goes well with the film’s genre and it creates the kind of mood which is expected from the genre to which Don 2 belongs. While Anusha Mani begins the proceedings, it is Vishal Dadlani who arrives a little later in the day with the quartet of Raman Mahadevan, Mani Mahadevan, Siddharth Mahadevan and Kshitij Wagh coming together for a chorus. Not the kind that you would hum around the streets, this one is basically a theme track that should take the story forward. What catches your attention though is ‘Hai

Ye Maya’ which fuses the action genre of late 70s/ early 80s well with the contemporary sound hence fully justifying it’s inclusion in Don 2. Expect the song to play at various junctures in the film as and when there is a thrilling encounter involving Shah Rukh Khan. Though in last few years Usha Uthup has come behind the mike for many a Bollywood tracks, it is ‘Hai Ye Maya’ which turns out to be her best in ages. It is remarkable to see the lady doing exceedingly well and holding her own in the times when dozens of youngsters have come and gone. Listening to ‘Dushman Mera’’ reminds of many a cabaret sequences from the 70s that had the likes of Helen, Padma Khanna or Bindu gyrating to a fast paced tune in a villain’s den. The song in question has a female protagonist hunting for her ‘dushman’ with the man of the moment having his own score to settle with his enemies. While Sunitha Sarathi is an unconventional choice as a singer here, she still does well. However what is surprising is to hear Shankar Mahadevan sounding so differently from his usual self. “The King is Back – Theme” is actually a catchy upgrade of the ‘Don’ theme music. If only S-E-L had done without the vocals by Sunitha Sarathy and just stuck to the instrumentation, it would have been an even more gripping theme track. And if you thought they couldn’t possibly have more than two redone versions of the same song, the album presents “Mujhko Pehchaanlo”, which is basically an extension of ‘Main Hoon Don.’ Sung by KK (replacing Shaan from the original), and backed by Raman Mahadevan , Mani Mahadevan , Siddharth Mahadevan and Kshitij Wagh, this song misses

the egoistic zest of the original. The composition is mostly the same and KK’s voice doesn’t add the infesctious quality that Shaan used to confidently carry the original song. Last to arrive is ‘The ‘Don’ Waltz’ and while it may go along well with the film’s narrative, the only exciting portion for the listener here is the point where Caralisa Monteiro brings back the theme sound of Don. OVERALL As mentioned at the very beginning, nothing less than a rocking album was expected from Don 2. However, what one gets to hear is a soundtrack which is pretty much a mixed bag. At places it works while at points, it just doesn’t make you jump with joy. Also, there isn’t anything which comes across as memorable enough to be played a few months down the line, leave aside a few years. Eventually what you get is a soundtrack that would go along with the narrative and acts as a good situational ingredient but that’s about it.

- We Do Service - Late Hours - We Carry New & Used Tires Bollywood’s khiladi, Akshay Kumar, is one actor who loves to be unique. Almost all celebrities in Bollywood prefer speaking in English over Hindi. However, our Akki saab likes it the other way round. He says, he is super comfortable conversing in his national language, Hindi. “After all, we’re Hindi film stars. We earn our bread and butter from Bollywood. I’m uncomfortable talking in English..I’ve always been,” Akshay said in a statement. “I’ve realized my fans love the dialogues I say on screen. And those are in Hindi. Why speak in a language you are not comfortable with? After all success is about being comfortable in your own skin and I’m finally doing that,” he added. Akshay Kumar says he is very proud of his roots and call’s himself ‘desi’. “I’m proud to be desi. I’m a desi boy from Delhi and I’m very proud of who I am and I am proud of my roots. My fans love me for being humble and hard working. They love me for speaking to them in their language; they connect with me because I remind them of their roots,” he said.
Sajid Nadiadwala sets up lounge worth Rs. 25 lakhs for Housefull 2

Housefull 2 is making sure that it lives up to its title. Since the film requires over a dozen top actors to be shooting practically every day, makers Sajid Nadiadwala and Sajid Khan wanted to ensure that it indeed turns out to be a family affair. To facilitate that, they went ahead and created a lounge right next to the film’s sets that allowed all actors to be together for most of the time and get better accustomed to each other. According to one of the stars of the movie Sajid Nadiadwala and Sajid Khan are making all their efforts to facilitate all the actors and to create a family atmosphere on Housefull 2 set. The star says “Yes, Sajid has actually hired an entire floor at Filmistan Studios (Mumbai) that has a seating capacity of over 20 people. It is a fully furnished and very tastefully designed lounge that acts as a dining area, resting place, game centre and not to mention, gossip corner as well. It has all the facilities that are typically available in a five star lounge. Right from the multi-cuisine menu to LEDs to refrigerators to air conditioners as well as reclining sofas - everything is on the house.” This lounge has cost them an additional amount of Rs. 25 lakhs. Sajid Khan says “It has been a different experience for all cast members as well as myself to be co-located even though we are shooting on the sets and have our own vanity vans. Sajid (Nadiadwala) is very innovative when it comes to making his team comfortable and this lounge setup is yet another example of that…. Housefull 2 has a huge cast and in the current schedule quite a few actors are required in a single frame. It helps if everyone is together at one place. However, there is enough room for all to be comfortable instead of feeling claustrophobic.”
