SPOTLIGHT ON... Bite-Sized Aesthetics Courses Master the skills needed to deliver transformative cosmetic treatments with these cost-effective specialised courses. Chemical Peel This cosmetic procedure involves a chemical solution being applied to the skin to exfoliate and remove damaged outer layers. This promotes skin regeneration, improving texture, reducing fine lines, and addressing issues like hyperpigmentation and acne scars. The result is smoother, more youthful-looking skin with a rejuvenated appearance. Derma-Planing Bespoke This cosmetic treatment gives a deeper method of exfoliation by using a scalpel to gently scrape off the top layer of dulling dead skin cells in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. It also removes fine vellus hairs, creating radiant looking skin. Derma Roller A derma roller treatment involves rolling a device covered in tiny needles over the skin to create micro-injuries, stimulating collagen production. This promotes skin regeneration, reducing wrinkles, scars, and improving texture. Results include enhanced skin firmness, reduced fine lines, and a more even complexion. Micro Blading This treatment is an alternative method to the established micropigmentation. Microblading creates extremely natural eyebrows using organic semi-permanent make up colours to create fine hairlines which look authentic. Results last up to 18 months. Micro Needling This revolutionary, anti-aging treatment allows special skin serums to penetrate deeply into the intersection between the epidermis and the dermis. A rejuvenating roller stimulates the skin, allowing it to produce new collagen to firm and tone. Micro-Pigmentation Lip Brush Techniques Lip blushing is a semi-permanent tattoo that can enhance the colour and shape of lips, giving the impression of more fullness. Colour ink is deposited into the lips and lip line, improving the overall look. The colour chosen is dependent on skin tone and lip colour, and can be used to give subtle, natural-looking results or more dramatic effects.

I feel like part of one big family, working in the salon. They’ve encouraged me too; this year, I’m going to London where I’ll take masterclasses from Beverly C, one of the UK’s most successful hairdressers.’
We have a variety of barbering courses starting from September 2024 – look out for our next Adult Course Guide or visit our website for updates. 36

Case Study Ivana Durisova Hairdressing Fast-Track Level 3 ‘This course is more in-depth than the Level 2, which I started on; we’re learning advanced skills like perming and colour correction. I’ve now found work at a salon and eventually I’d like to be a mobile hairdresser, visiting care homes to cut and style the hair of the residents.’
Case Study Sam Shacklady Hairdressing Fast-Track Level 3 ‘I fancied a career change, and I was always interested in hairdressing, so I started with a Find Out About Hairdressing course at one of the College’s community learning centres. I’ve since progressed through the Levels up to Level 3 and I have a job in a salon. I love it here – I’m going to miss it when I finish.’
Case Study Sam Mahoney Barbering Fast-Track Level 2 ‘The tutors here have been amazing; I wanted a career change and the tutor, Mandy, helped me to find a job in a barbershop so I’m also getting real-life experience. I aim to eventually become a master barber.’
