Welcome to Bolton College’s Schools Liaison Activity Programme Bolton College is proud to present its school liaison offer. Our aim is to provide a flexible, diverse and interesting programme. One that will offer your pupils a taste of college life and encourage them to remain engaged in education. With a wide-ranging vocational curriculum, exceptional facilities and specialist tutors with industry experience, we can create innovative lessons and programmes to inspire your pupils. From tours to tasters, practical workshops to talks, our dedicated Schools Liaison Team will work with you to coordinate a programme of activities to suit your needs. Our Services to You Bolton College Presentations Focusing on vocational courses and Apprenticeships, our presentations highlight the range of opportunities available at Bolton College and motivate learners to consider their next career steps. Emphasis is placed on the importance of hard work, good attendance and a positive attitude. From whole-year assemblies to class talks, our informative presentations can be adapted to meet your requirements. Target audience: Years 10 and 11 Offered at: College or school Numbers: Class to full-year group Duration: 10 - 25 minutes Enterprise Days Our enterprise challenges aim to encourage innovation, teamwork, communication, creative thinking and adaptability. If you are thinking about running an enterprise challenge, we would be delighted to work with you to create a bespoke day or half-day activity. Competitions Have you got a great idea for a competition? We can support you by providing input from specialist staff, prizes, resources, or access to our industry-standard facilities. We will also be hosting a range of inter-school competitions throughout the year. Theatre Performances & Workshops Our Performing Arts students host a range of shows throughout the Christmas period. Why not send your pupils along to watch a show, or even take part in a post-performance workshop? Employability Skills Workshops We are able to offer workshops covering a range of employability skills to prepare your pupils for the world of work. Workshops can cover elements including CV writing, mock interview practice, interview preparation and presentation skills. College Tours Tours of the College are provided for staff or students throughout the year. Whether you want to view a specific department, meet with staff, or just experience our fantastic facilities first hand, we will be happy to arrange something for you. Award Evenings Bolton College is proud to support local schools by sponsoring prizes for award evenings. A member of staff will be happy to attend your event to present the award. Target audience: Years 10 and 11
Alternative Learning Environment If you would like a change of scenery, why not use our superb facilities as an alternative to your own school? Whether for pupil visits, or staff training, we are happy to coordinate your visit. Some of the facilities available at our Deane Road campus include: • • • • • • • • •

80-seater boardroom complete with interactive TV screens. Full-sized sports hall and 32-station fitness suite. ‘Signature’ restaurant, seating up to 50 people. 100-seater theatre with retractable, tiered-seating blocks. Two dance studios, equipped with sound and video facilities, sprung wooden floors, mirrors and ballet bars. ‘Atom’ retail shop, with classroom attached. Art facilities, including Apple Mac suites, high-spec ceramics, 3D, fashion and jewellery studios, and a wet photographic darkroom. Construction facilities, including specialist workshops for brickwork, carpentry and joinery, electrical, painting and decorating, plastering, plumbing and gas, roofing and tiling, and green technologies. High-spec classrooms, complete with interactive whiteboards.

Reward Days Reward days can be offered to staff or pupils in our relaxing and professional hair and beauty salon, ‘The Academy’. Selected treatments range from barbering and hairdressing services, to beauty treatments - including manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, make-up lessons and more. Our ‘Signature’ restaurant can also be booked for staff or pupils to enjoy a delicious three-course meal.
Careers Drop-in Sessions If your students would like support with planning their next steps, our staff can arrange drop-in sessions to help them to navigate the maze of qualifications and careers available. Target audience: Years 9, 10 and 11 Offered at: College or school
Teacher Placements Bolton College is always keen to develop links with local schools and offers placements for teachers in relevant departments. If your staff would like to visit the College to share knowledge with their counterparts in Further Education, we would be delighted to welcome them.
Careers Events & Parents’ Evenings We are available to attend school careers events and parents’ evenings at your school. Our role will be to provide information about our own course provision and assist with general enquiries relating to careers and progression. Bespoke Workshops & Taster Days Taster Days Workshops and taster-day sessions can be offered in the following subject areas (subject to availability): • Art, Design & Digital Media • Beauty Therapy • Business & Professional Services • Computing, Digital & IT • Construction (Architechture, Brickwork, Carpentry & Joinery, Civil Engineering, Electrical, Painting & Decorating, Plastering, Plumbing & Gas, Roofing & Tiling) • Early years, Childcare & Education • Engineering • Event, Hospitality & Catering Management • Hairdressing & Barbering • Health & Social Care • Motor Vehicle • Performing Arts • Sport, Fitness & Wellbeing • The Sciences • Travel & Tourism • Uniformed Public Services Our STEM Centre is open and ready for business. Taster days offer your pupils the chance to participate in up to two vocational sessions of their choice, and experience college life for themselves. This can help pupils to make informed decisions about their future careers and encourage them to stay on in education. Transport and lunches can be provided free of charge. Interview Training Our Schools Liaison Team is able to assist in the selection procedure for school prefects. We can interview your pupils to your criteria and report back our findings. We are also able to offer our college facilities for any subsequent training you wish to undertake. We offer modern training rooms with the latest teaching and learning technology.
Support We also offer learning opportunities in specialist areas, such as: • ESOL – for learners with English as an additional language • VI - for learners with visual impairments • SUDS – for d/Deaf learners, or learners with hearing impairments • Foundation Studies – for learners with additional learning needs
Vocational Workshops Vocational workshops are an ideal way to enhance your curriculum offer and can be delivered either in school or in College.
