Our full-time study programmes are designed to maximise your career prospects and widen your options for further or higher study.
Your programme consists of the following elements:
This course has been designed to introduce you to the exciting and varied world of Travel & Tourism with areas of study including UK Travel & Tourism, Customer Service in Travel & Tourism and Providing Information for a Tourist Destination. As part of the programme you will investigate different aspects of the Travel & Tourism industry including travel operations, cruise industries, tour operations, events and conferences and staycationing, as well as employability skills. Work experience is also an integral part of our study programmes, enabling you to gain essential exposure to the world of work.
What You’ll Learn This course provides a solid foundation of study for Travel & Tourism and provides progression to study at higher levels including Level 2 and Level 3 programmes of study. The course will also provide you with an exciting insight into the world of Travel and Tourism. Units include: • The UK Travel Industry • Package Travel & Tourism Products • Travel & Tourism Itineraries • Promotional Materials for Travel & Tourism • Planning For & Taking Part in a Visit
• Study of your chosen vocational subject (50% of your programme) • Employability skills (e.g. punctuality, attendance, communication and team work) • Work experience (giving you a taste of working life) • Tutorial & personal development (e.g. healthy living, volunteering and citizenship skills)
Entry Requirements We ask that you have four GCSEs grade 1-3 including Maths and English and we will also invite you to attend an interview and provide a satisfactory school reference.
How will I be Assessed? There will be continuous assessment throughout the course based on a range of assignments and activities. These will include a mixture of: • Practical activities • Presentations • Observations • Written reports • Professional discussions • Group assessments • Role play • Exam (one online, one written)
You will also continue to develop your English and maths skills and will be given the opportunity to re-sit your Maths and/or English GCSE. The course will be delivered by experienced tutors with first-hand experience from the industry. As well as classroom teaching, you will get to investigate local and national tourism companies, meet guest speakers from these businesses and visit their place of work. Future Opportunities After you have completed the course you could progress on to Higher Education and study Travel & Tourism related subjects including Tourism Management and Business & Tourism Management. Alternatively, if you choose to look for paid work you could opt for a Travel & Tourism Apprenticeship and work as an apprentice Travel Operative. This course has been designed to introduce you to the exciting and varied world of Travel & Tourism with areas of study including Marketing for Travel & Tourism, Business Travel, Report Management Roles & Responsibilities and UK Conferencing. As part of the programme you will investigate different aspects of the Travel & Tourism industry including travel operations, cruise industries, tour operations, events and conferences and staycationing. You will investigate and develop the key skills needed for this fast-paced and fun industry. You will also have the opportunity to complete a 315 hour industry placement, working for a company in the industry.
What You’ll Learn This course is equivalent to three A-Level grades (A*-C) and provides you with a practical insight in to the world of Travel & Tourism. Units include: • Investigating the Travel & Tourism Sector • The UK as a Destination • European Destinations • Long-haul Travel Destinations • Retail & Travel Operations • Responsible Tourism
