We at your Gran Alacant Advertiser continue to bring you all of the news from the Gran Alacant Councillor, Loreto Cascales, as we have since May 2005.

So much good news this month for Gran Alacant. The new general plan that includes the golf course WILL HAPPEN. Over 2 million euro to be spent on our urbanisation. Plans drawn up for the new park on GA. Every month we will keep you up to date with all of the new projects. We have meetings arranged at the Town Hall to tell you the facts. So make sure of picking up our FREE magazine each month for all of the news. Or of course also for FREE read it on our website. We are looking forward to bringing you lots of good news in 2009.

3. Tree planting is to be completed in front of altomar 2 and in other areas leading down the windy road to the beach crossroads. Costing 160,000 euro.

The Central Government has allocated over 5 million euro to the Santa Pola area, based on the padron. 30,000 people in Santa Pola and 10,000 on Gran Alacant. Although we are only a third of the budget, it has been agreed to spend almost one half of it on Gran Alacant.

ROUNDABOUT

The list of projects, with their cost, is as follows:1. The sports hall is to be totally enclosed, making it an indoor arena. There will be seating for spectators and a new surface laid. Costing 670,000 euro.

The park will cover 4,800 sq metres and cost 355,000 euro. It will be fully fenced in and at its highest point will contain trees, existing trees trimmed, 3 children play areas each of 90 sq metres. The 1,000 sq metres lower section will have a wall between the 2 main areas, plants, trees and flowers particular to the region & exercise equipment. Pathways in the park will have lights benches and drink fountains, in both

2. A series of paths are to be replaced around the Urbanisation. Marked as on our GA map. Costing 576,000 euro.

4. There are to be 2 play areas for children. The one in front of the Council Offices is to be expanded to give more play area. Another is to be built along Avenida Noreuga, the road between the first roundabout on GA and the new school. Costing 115,000 euro. 5. The first park on GA. We have a rough plan below which will be updated at a later date.

the top and bottom areas. It is hoped that the whole park area will serve as a meeting place for the residents. 6. We mentioned in an earlier edition the nice viewing area being built. Another is to be made on the windy road down to the beach crossroads. Costing 8,400 euro. 7. The roads from outside the Life Resort, all the way up towards the lighthouse, are to be resurfaced. Also the road outside the new school will follow.. Marked on our map. Costing 166.000 euro.

----

8. Two more petanca rinks are to be built. One outside the Council Offices and the other along Avenida Noreuga. Costing 20,000 euro. 9. The massive green land area behind the Santa Pola Life Resort which extends all the way to Santa Pola is going to be made availble for use. The whole area will be tidied up, trees pruned and some of the walkways that have appeared will be made into proper walkways of roads, where some of the area will be available for either cars, bikes or on foot. Costing 455,000 euro. 10. The project again which we have mentioned before, the landscaping of this side of the Clot from the beach crossroads. Half of the budget which was to be allocated to the Town Hall has now happened and it just requires the sanctioning of the other half of the money from this years budget so that the work can be started.

in a sewer pipe near the gas station at the Carabasi Bars. The hole could claim an animal or child with a six foot drop into the sewer. After contacting Loreto the problem was solved the same day, with the area being concreted over and a new man hole sited. We mentioned again the rubbish area up the hill where last month the rubbish was just moved into a big heap and left there to the local rats. Arrangements are to be made to take all of this away. We mentioned the eye sore land on the right as you travel from the first roundabout towards the school. This is now to be put in hand. The above two paragraphs reply to two published emails in this edition. We were asked why there had been no Christmas trees on the roundabouts this year as the year previous. This was because the previous year had seen an allocation of money to a group to do this work. The grant was not available this year. A lovely sunny day on 17th January, San Anton Day, saw the Santa Pola square come alive with children and their pet animals and birds. This was the day for the pets to be blessed.

All of the above projects have to be completed within one year to validate the grant. One of the first achievements this month was when a resident pointed out to us that there had been a subsidence

The Skin continued from January’s edition

Dry skin This type of skin has a matt, uneven texture. This is caused by a lack of sebum to lubricate the surface cells and keep them compacted together. Without a greasy coating, natural moisture becomes lost from the upper layers. The surface cells curl up and flake. The skin looses its suppleness and can feel tight. Dry skin is usually fine and thin with no visible pores. It can form lines and wrinkles prematurely, particularly around the eyes. During the natural aging process, there is a gradual reduction in the levels of sex hormones produced by the body. This affects the amount of sebum produce and the skins ability to retain moisture. Dry skin matures much sooner that others. Dry skin occurs when there is an

Imbalance of male and female sex hormones circulating in the blood. Using harsh products which strip the skin of its natural lubricant. Harsh products include lotions containing alcohol, alkalis, detergents or abrasives. Central heating and air conditioning. Which create a dry environment that takes water wherever it can. Skin becomes parched and dehydrated if not protected. Over-exposure to sunlight and extreme temperatures. When weather is very hot or very cold the air is usually dry. The sunʼs rays overheat and dehydrate the skin, this not only effects the surface layer, but also the deeper dermis layer. During periods of ill health, or crash dieting. Smoking and excess alcohol. Next month I will discuss Greasy, combination and sensitive skin types. See you all then Dott

Legal Solutions joined our magazine last month.. They have plenty of experience in writing for other publications, so we welcome their input. Beware! This month’s article is not for the faint hearted!!! Several weeks ago a lady visited our office. She was visibly upset as she explained the unfortunate situation she had found herself in. She was the registered owner of a small car but due to medical reasons she could no longer drive. She then sold the car to a ‘friend’ and was assured by the new owner of the car that he would change ownership of the vehicle. Eighteen months later, she was visited by the Police at her home address with a summons to appear in court several days later. The Police did not inform the lady as to the reason for the attendance in Court and she was left for several days sick with worry. She approached a Solicitor and employed his services, but he could not find out the reason for the Court Summons. Both attended the hearing at Court, where she was informed, that the car that she sold to her ‘friend’ had been sold on to a third party and her name was still on the log book. Her ‘friend’ obviously had not honoured the agreement to change the name on the log book. To her horror, she then was told that ‘her’ car had been involved in an accident which resulted in the hospitalisation of a young boy. The child had just been dropped off from the school bus and was attempting to cross the road when he was mowed down by the vehicle. The child has been in hospital for the past eighteen months in traction and has life long injuries. His family are suing for damages which could run into the hundreds of thousands of euros. The lady has been informed by her solicitor that there is a chance she may have to sell her home to pay the compensation. Even if she is fortunate enough not to have to pay the damages, she still has to pay the Court costs and the fees for her Solicitor, which in itself is running into thousands of euros!!! Understandably, she is terrified as to what the outcome of this situation will be and bitterly regrets ever trusting her ‘friend’ to change the details on the log book. Therefore, if you are selling a vehicle be warned!!! It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that the new owner changes the details of the vehicle and therefore avoid any sorry situations like this one. Till next month, safe driving. Tom and Debbie Milligan LEGAL SOLUTIONS

We arranged a meeting at the Town Hall with Lola Gadea the Councillor of Urbanism and Loreto Cascales the Councillor of Gran Alacant, to discuss the new

General Plan of Santa Pola, which includes the proposed golf course.

The plan will be published in a later edition of our magazine edition when it has all been finalised. It is to include 2 x 18 hole golf courses which will start as one of the first phases. There are also to be 2 hotels, and land for 3 schools. 2 plots for middle school years and one for a high school. Four thousand houses are to be included, over a period of 10-15 years. The houses will include detached villas, semi’s and apartments. When these properties are available for sale, we will let you know as time progresses. The main roadway into the area will include commercial units, a sports centre, garden areas and park. There will be some areas allocated to Santa Pola Town Hall for their use to use as they deam fit. The whole area will connect to Gran Alacant by way of a bridge crossing the N332 and then onto a large roundabout, where there will be connecting roads to Elche, Alicante and eventually, hopefully to El Altet airport. The builders of the houses will be paying for all of the infastructer and the 2 golf courses. It is planned to get one of the high profile golfers on board to help in all golf matters. It is expected to be around 2-3 years before a golf course will be completed and the whole massive construction will give much needed work over the coming years. The Town Hall has offered to keep our magazine up to date in the future with all developments so that we can relay them to you, as and when they happen. WELCOME to QUESADA CHANGES AT YORKSHIRE LINEN It is now over 3 years since the current Yorkshire Linen Co; Quesada shop opened, and nearly 5 years since Paul & Sheila opened the original Yorkshire Linen shop in Doña Pepa. Over this period of time and after many customer requests for other household products, they opened Homewares Corner next door a year ago and it has proved very popular. Both shops offer very competitive prices and give excellent value for money. So what has changed? In Yorkshire Linen, all curtains have been moved upstairs into the main sales area, thus making it easier to co-ordinate the decor for your home and also eliminating the need to use the stairs. Making this move created the opportunity for Homewares Corner to relocate into the downstairs sales area, which is larger than their original premises allowing further products to be stocked. There is easy parking outside the shops and both can be accessed through either entrance.

In Homewares Corner, Mark is the regular contact for your shopping and will assist you in a friendly and helpful way. He has worked there since the opening of the business so has good knowledge of products and is fluent in Spanish. There is cookware, ovenware, kitchen tools, crockery, cutlery, teapots, mugs, tableware, artificial flowers & vases, outdoor tableware and much more. Towards the end of last year they become stockists of JML products and these have proved very popular. The majority of the products are imported from the UK so you can relate to makes and have confidence in the quality; they pride themselves on having many of the things that are hard to find out here.

Hi Barry We are having a discussion on the GA forum about the wasteland that belongs to Masa up the hill in Monte y Mar between Cala Caneries and the beach road You are probably aware of it as it is such an eyesore and I have asked you before to mention it to the Councilor at your monthly meeting which you very kindly did Anyway it appears to be getting even worse with more and more people letting their dogs foul all over the place and from what people are saying the smell is getting really bad The last time we were over there was a lot of rubbish dumped and this as you well know has the potential to bring rats and all sorts of disease I donʼt live there full time myself, unfortunately, so I am relying on people like your good self to ask questions on my behalf Could you please bring this up again at your next meeting and ask if someone can force Masa to tidy up this area and fence it off in some way I am quite sure that in the current economic climate they will not be developing it any time soon I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience Kind regards Fiona email

Hi Barry & Sandra I have just got back from Gran Alacant and as a reader of your magazine, I would like to ask a question about the main road coming in from Gran Alacant, the road leading from the the top roundabout down to the new school. (Avda de Noruega) My Villa looks out on to the main road with the waste ground in front of us, I have been told this land has been taken over by the council, can you please tell me and the readers of your magazine what they intend to do with this ground, they have dumped lorry loads of soil so no cars can go on this land which is good, but surely they must have in mind to do something with this land it looks very bad, as this is the way in to the urbanisation and you would of thought the council would tidy this mess up and try and make it look good for visitors and the people of G.A. (Green area maybe trees going along the main road) Look forward to hearing your views and the local councils on this matter Regards, Paul Benfield email

Dear Editor, I would like to use the services of your letters page to inform all your readers of the tremendous amount raised by The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal here in this part of Spain last year. The District North-Spain area, covering from Catalunya in the north to Roquetas de Mar in the south raised a staggering 88,318 Euros which equates to a 20.85% increase on the previous year. District North Chairman and Committee wish to thank all those who gave so generously in support of the UK's leading ex-service charity. They also wish to thank the numerous businesses, bars, restaurants and clubs for their support, and the many volunteers in the branches, who unstintingly give their time and energy, to organise, distribute and collect poppy trays and collection boxes. Instructions are now awaited from Poppy Appeal Headquarters in the UK, to transfer the collection of 88318 Euros to a Royal British Legion Welfare Account. Once transferred the monies become available to fund welfare activities here in Spain that are approved and authorised by the Royal British Legion. There are 22 Branches in the District and anyone wishing information on a Branch near them is asked to look at the following website; www.spainnorth.legionbranches.net or contact me on my email address. Once again my thanks to those very generous people who once again support the ex-service community in their time of great need. Yours sincerely, Peggy Wyatt email District Public Relations Officer, The Royal British Legion,District North-Spain Email: poppyappeal2008@gmail.com

True Love

An elderly gent was invited to an old friends'

home for dinner one evening. He was impressed by

the way his buddy preceded every request to his wife

with endearing terms such as: Honey, My Love, Darling, Sweetheart, Pumpkin, etc.

The couple had been married almost 70 years and, clearly, they were still very much in love.

While the wife was in the kitchen, the man leaned over and said to his host, "I think it's wonderful that, after all these years, you still call your wife those loving pet names"

The old man hung his head. "I have to tell you the truth," he

said, "Her name slipped my mind about 10 years ago and I'm scared to death to ask her what it is!"

Unless you’ve been on Mars these past few months then you will likely be very aware of the mess that has been “British TV” here in Gran Alacant. I’ve also heard that some of you have now found a free reception with basic satellite equipment and are now getting 40 or so UK Freeview channels. As we understand it this is being offered free (temporarily) by Simulsat and former Telemicro customers should be able to pick up this signal with their Coship receivers after a small adjustment in the settings. However, even with this system nothing is guaranteed long term – it is still “rebroadcasting” and whilst it may or may not be illegal it is allegedly being rebroadcast without the permission of BBC, ITV etc. So then, what is the definitive answer to UK TV; something that is completely legal and cannot be shut down ever, a system that lets you watch Sky and Setanta Sports rather than just Freeview? And to boot a system that suits permanent expat residents as well as the abundance of holiday home owners here in Gran Alacant? Well for this you need to think out of the box a little and consider methods away from the mainstream. What I’m taking about here is “alternative television”, and by that we don’t mean how you can access the Feng Shui channel or see Buddhist Monks in Tibet doing their own version of Songs of Praise! By “alternative television”, we actually mean the modern technological alternatives to receiving British TV that broadband and internet technology now offer. Only one year ago using the internet to watch TV was pretty much restricted to the technical boffins who had the know-how to watch without the picture sticking (i.e. video buffering) and were all quite happy to sit and watch their favourite shows on a computer screen. However, one year on and everything has changed. The mainstream UK broadcasters including BBC, ITV, Channel 4, FIVE, Setanta and Sky all now offer their programmes FREE on-demand via their official websites. The most popular channels are also now available live 24 hours per day from official broadcaster websites such as www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer, www.itv.com and services such as www.tvcatchup.com. And for sports fans both Sky Sports and Setanta now offer online subscription services at £9.99 and £7.99 per month respectively. But let me guess, you’ve tried all these websites and been told you cannot watch TV as you are not in the UK; fear not though all you need to do is get yourself a UK IP address rather than use the Spanish one provided as default by your ISP (i.e. Telefonica). Using a UK IP address in conjunction with your current ISP is entirely legitimate, but don’t be fooled by the numerous free proxy services listed on Google and Yahoo; these aren’t usually official services and are generally operated by companies looking to extract your personal browsing usage and information. The broadcasters soon latch on to free proxy services through their tracking mechanisms and shut down the IP address that they give you, as many expats will already have seen from first hand experience. However, there are several options out there that will let you pay a small monthly fee (usually around £10 per month, see www.ukproxyserver.co.uk) for a shared or unique UK IP address; these providers will generally also offer a free trial period so you can see it in action for yourself. Once you are up and running there is also no need to restrict yourself to watching on your computer screen. There are many gadgets available here in Spain that will transmit your computer screen picture to your TV screen, many are wired but wireless options are also now available from shops such as MediaMarkt and PC City here in Spain.

Another form of IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) is offered by getting yourself a “Slingbox”, and no I don’t mean chucking your old Telemicro box across the room and seeing what channels you get when you plug it back in! You can buy a Slingbox in the UK at stores such as Currys, PC World or online retailers like Amazon or eBay. The concept is that the Slingbox remains in the UK, either at your own UK house or with friends/family connected to a UK Freeview aerial or even a Sky/Cable TV box. You then connect over the internet to your Slingbox from here in Spain and hey presto, you have a full TV service exactly the same as you would in the UK, with full channel changing options and features to record such as Sky+. Only one person can connect to the Slingbox at any single time and as no UK TV equipment (i.e. Sky Digibox) is leaving the country then their terms are not breached, making this a fully legal way to watch Sky Sports and Movies from anywhere on the planet. Furthermore, because you are the controller and the receiver of the Slingbox there are no third parties involved and therefore no monthly fees other than what you pay already for your internet service or subscription TV in the UK. Sling also recently released a device called Sling Catcher which connects to your TV here in Spain and comes complete with a remote control so you can change all your channels on the Slingbox in the UK and don’t aren’t restricted to watching on your computer screen. If Slingbox setup sounds difficult then there are also several support services available, including Sling Direct (based in Gran Alacant) that can supply all the products required and offer you a full setup and support service for a one-time payment. If you don’t have anyone that can store your Slingbox in the UK, then there are also options to have it hosted in a UK data centre for an ongoing monthly fee. I met up with Greig Hopcroft from Sling Direct last week for a demo and must say I was simply blown away by Slingbox and its capabilities; this really is the TV of the future available today! Greig has also confirmed he would be happy to demo the system locally for Gran Alacant Advertiser readers, just call him on 966 265 005 or email info@slingdirect.co.uk.

Dave The Computerman.

Welcome to the monthly computer column compiled by Dave the Computerman

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Microsoft have now released the definitive version of Service Pack 1 for all versions of Windows Vista. However before you start to download and set up this service pack bear in mind that it is a huge file and will take the best part of two hours in total to download and install. Before beginning the download, however, ensure that two other updates have already been installed. These are Servicing Stack update (KB937287) and Reliability update (KB938371). To check if these have been installed, go to start, control panel, add and remove programs and tick the box at the top of the screen show updates. Check that the two previously mentioned updates have been installed. If not go to www.microsoft.com and select the support link. Enter the KB numbers given above into the search box and download and install the missing updates. Now go to your system manufacturer´s website and check that you have the latest drivers and updates for your system. Whilst there check to see if they have any specific instructions for installing service pack one. HP users for instance have to install a driver file to the hard disk before the service pack, or the disk becomes unreadable. Now go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935796. This article informs the user of all the software and programs that do not and never will work with service pack 1. This includes quite a few printers, so if you have an old printer, check this article out first and then check your printer manufacturer´s website. Use system restore to create a system restore point yourself, because I have known the service pack to forget to do this on start. Empty the recycle bin and remove any temporary internet files and any other temporary files found. Use disk cleanup for this. Then defragment the hard disk ready to accept the huge amount of files about to be added. Once the service pack has been installed, and your computer has been rebooted, it is then necessary to update your Microsoft help files, because Microsoft forgot to add them to the download. To do this, go to control panel and run windows update. There should be an entry entitled update for windows Vista and should have KB937286 attached. Download and install this file and your help files for Vista will now be up to date. NB/ If you are running a server with group policy management, service pack 1 removes this.

Drop off facility If you wish, you may drop off your computer at GA Services internet cafe above Suzy Screws, where I will pick it up and carry out any necessary repairs, before returning the computer to your home. This saves you having to wait for me to collect the computer. I hope that you find this column useful and if you have any specific queries please contact me on 637 55 45 79 or email me at gacomputerman@yahoo.es

The entertainment SCENE in and around gran alacant Have you ever wondered, whilst driving through Santa Pola what that medieval looking castle aptly named Camelot actually is? An amusement park for the kids? Or a misplaced museum to retell the famous legend of King Arthur. It is, in fact a “Discoteca.” Not, I must mention a night club. Ask for one of them on a night out and you will definitely get more than you bargained for! Owners Emilio and Antonio are well known for promoting successful club nights at their numerous venues in Santa Pola and Elche and are currently promoting a new Sunday night fiesta called “Fourth Dimension.” The only reason that I can think why it is called so is that Sunday is the fourth and final night out of the clubber's week. Beginning at 7 pm and carrying on until at least four in the morning, employers can't expect much from their workforce on a Monday morning. One regular Camelot fan told me that whatever night of the week that the Camelot people decide to open their doors, a regular following can always be expected. And up until around 11.30pm on January the 18th (way past my normal cocoa and slippers Sunday night) this was more than true. Set virtually on the dance floor, the D.J

booth and it's occupants are in a perfect position to create the desired atmosphere. Serious, chunky beats seem to be the flavour of the month and a number of different Djs attempted to literally take the roof off the castle in an attempt to stand out of a big line-up of well known and experienced artists, including Juan Cruz, Roberto M.C, Ricky L, and Palazone. Line-ups change weekly so be sure to check out www.clubcamelot.com. Also keep an eye out for flyers as they offer reductions on entrance fee.

The Verdict: 1-10 Rating: 8 Entrance fee: 8€ and two free copas (which means free entry but 4€ for a brandy and coke) Bar prices: 3€ for a beer Return Visit: Sundays are definitely looking brighter.

For Adoption

As people get their new puppies for Christmas and Three Kings they no longer want to take care of their old faithful friends and they are simply tossed away like rubbish. They are left to fend for themselves, most are run over, some are poisoned or starve to death but the lucky few find their way to us and other animal charities alike. On the 7th January, the day after the 3 Kings we collected 6 dogs that had been thrown out, this is just the start and we really need all the help we can get in trying to find new homes. The website is proving to be a big hit so we are really trying to publish it wherever we can as not only do we advertise K9 Club animals but also Finca Lucendum, PAWS and anyone else wishing to advertise their animal.

DID YOU KNOW? I have been driving for many years... I would think I should have noticed the little secret on my dashboard that was staring me in the face the whole time.. .I didn't...and I bet you didn't either... Have you ever rented or borrowed a car and when arriving at the petrol station wondered...mmm, which side is the petrol filler cap? My normal solution was to stick my head out the window, strain my neck and look, try to see in the side mirrors or even get out of the car! Well ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to share with you my little secret so you will no longer look like Ace

Ventura on your way to the petrol station or put

your neck at risk of discomfort or injury. If you look at your petrol gauge, you will see a small icon of a petrol pump? The handle of the petrol pump will extend out on either the left or right side of the petrol pump? If your tank is on the left, the handle will be on the left? If your tank is on the right, the handle will be on the right. It is that simple!

DIETS Our pet’s feeding is a very important matter, as written in previous articles, but we keep answering very often questions from our clients about which is the best option for feeding dogs and cats. Our recommendation, in most cases, is dry food, because a well formulated one will cover properly all the growing or manteinance requirements of the pet, and, of course, if we are talking about prescription diets, they are a very important part of the treatment of several diseases, such as diabetes, obesity, allergic reactions, heart disease, etc. In some cases, wet food is the right option, normally in those diseases in which daily water requirements are high (for example bladder stones: the higher the water content of the food, the easier it will dissolve the calculi). But normally, in 99% of cases, dry food is the best option: -It’s cheaper: we are not paying water at food’s price. -It’s easier to store: less weight, less volume. -It keeps in perfect conditions much longer (keeping it in a hermetic box is enough), and will not attract flies or ants in summer. So, why does my dog

66

prefer wet food and I’m unable to make him accept dry food? Just because one of the main things which will determinate the palatability of a diet is the water content, so, if a dog or a cat has been for years on wet or homemade food, the transition to a dry food may be quite difficult, but in very young puppies which are being introduced in solid food, they always prefer dry food, and even animals which have only been on dry food during their life, they normally refuse wet food, even “gourmet” cans of wet food we sometimes buy as an “extra” for our cats. Nowadays there is a big quantity of foods and treats for pets, and some of them are sold in supermarkets, and they are very popular. Some of them, trying to imitate more “scientific” food trademarks, offer different foods for puppies and adults, for large and small breeds, or for shorthair and longhair ones. Lessons of the Month Beginners Lesson 12 Days of Christmas This is a good way of learning 1st, 2nd 3rd, etc, up to 12th! (I have highlighted the relevant word in each line.) There are numerous examples of diminutives, saying ‘a little something’ (they are the words ending in ‘-ito’ or ‘-ita’), and there are a couple of examples of present participles – so, lots to get your teeth stuck into! The music is the same as the English version El primer día de Navidad, mi amor me mandó una perdiz picando peras del peral.

Advanced lesson Here is a short article on Christmas in Spain. The translation is further down, but see if you can have a go at it first.

Christmas in Spain shares many traditions with other countries where Catholicism is practised. As in other parts of the world, families come together to share and enjoy the happiness of this celebration. Whatever the reason, the idea is to meet up in a spirit of happiness, good will and friendship to share the birth of Christ. The decorations and elements employed in these celebrations are similar in Europe and America, food, drink, music, dancing, and the custom of sharing presents or what you have with others. In addition, however, Christmas in Spain is a unique event, with traditions and different customs that reflect the true character of Spain. An important Christmas symbol in this country is the Nativity Scene. The representations of the birth of Jesus can be seen in the squares in cities and towns, as well in entrances to people’s houses, and in businesses’ shop windows. It’s very common for them to be extremely elaborate, in order for them to be as realistic as possible. In many cities, they even have competitions to select the best one. In many small villages, on the night of the 24th of December, there is often a ‘live’ Nativity Scene, with actors and actresses, as well as the animals that are represented in the scene, a cow, a donkey and some lambs.
