Ball Mtaani anticipated results (in brief) Ball Mtaani is being held to benefit: Good Samaritan Children’s home – over 350 children The neighboring community – men, women, youth and children (youth are the main target)

Ball Mtaani aims to: Raise funding to meet Good Samaritan Children’s home, as well as the neighboring community’s needs through outreach i.e. education, health and uplifting of standards. Highlight plight of the less fortunate, and serve as their voice; Good Samaritan Children’s home has been of great service to the community, hosting over 350 children, yet still struggles to meet its day to day needs. Poverty in the neighboring community contributes to risky sexual behavior and continued unwanted teenage pregnancy and HIV/AIDS, with the home having to bear some of this burden. This forum will be an opportunity for these concerns to be voiced, and the neighboring community to be educated. Motivate the youth to be a positive influence to the community, especially since they are surrounded by a lot of negative circumstances. Farming is currently being practiced at Good Samaritan Children’s home at a small scale – 24 cows, 15 goats, 9 sheep and 26 pigs. The project has been well managed by residents of the home since its inception, and is self-sustaining. Support to the growth of this project will improve income for the home, thus enabling it better cater for its day to day needs thus promoting self-sustainability, as opposed to dependency on donations.
