Lucas was convinced he was born to fly.
He could spend hours watching the birds or absorbed by the trails left by planes crossing the sky up above.
He tried to make millions of wings: big ones, small ones, with feathers, with paper or cardboard. Any invention that could help him reach his goal... to fly! But he failed, of course.
But Lucas wouldn’t give up. Every Christmas he would write a letter to Santa Claus asking please, please, please for wings that would really fly. But for some reason Santa Claus got it wrong year after year and he gave him toy wings that were no use.
On his birthday, after blowing out the candles on the cake and making the same wish as each and every birthday before that, Mum said: –There are other ways to fly, Lucas. And she put a book in his hands.
At first Lucas didn’t understand, but he sat in the garden and just started to read. He loved the story that Mum gave him so much that he finished it in one go.
Almost without realising, he picked up another book... and then another... and another... He was amazed by everything he discovered, learned or imagined through the books.
