It’s been a few years since young Josh first learnt all about Vikings and changed his name to Knut, Prince of the Vikings. In all that time he’s been as brave as the most heroic Viking warrior. Nothing much has worried him at all and he’s hardly been afraid of anything. Even bullies.
But the two littlest Vikings are getting bigger and stronger and wilder every day. Nothing scares them at all, and that worries Knut no end.
The only ones who seem to really enjoy the twins’ antics are the Norse gods, looking down from their home across the sky in Asgard.
‘Oh, Pop,’ sighs Nan, ‘the twins are going berserk. They’re so wild they scare me. We need to get them out of the house.’ Pop chuckles. ‘All right then my little warriors. I’ve got a grand idea. Tomorrow we go a-Viking. Onward to glory!’
‘We have a right little pair of berserkers in the making,’ chuckles Odin. ‘Look at them go!’ laugh Freya and Sigurd. ‘They’re wild enough to scare even me,’ says Thor.
‘Wow!’ exclaims Knut.
‘Look,’ says Pop, ‘a special show. A fiery funeral! We won’t want to miss that.’ ‘Hmm,’ says Nan. ‘Five o’clock this afternoon — that’s very late, and it looks quite dangerous. ‘Come on,’ says Pop. ‘It looks like fun. What could possibly go wrong?’
Meanwhile, up in Asgard, Thor is still keeping watch over Knut. ‘Hmm. Viking World —I might just sneak off and join them for the afternoon. It looks like fun. What could possibly go wrong?’
A pair of sinister eyes is peering out from the depths of a dark cave in Asgard. Fafnir, the most evil dragon imaginable, has been biding his time, waiting and watching for just such an opportunity to strike at the gods and claim Asgard and it’s riches for his own. With Thor gone, Fafnir’s time has come at last! But little does Thor know …
‘How about this kids — a traditional longhouse,’ says Pop excitedly.
‘This is where Viking families lived together, along with all their animals, to keep them warm on the long cold nights.’
‘Pop, where are the twins?’ asks Nan, alarmed. ‘I thought you had them.’ ‘I do … at least, I did.’
‘Harrumph,’ mutters Nan. ‘Josh, you keep an eye on the twins, too. Clearly Pop can’t be trusted.’
It’s lucky for the twins that Knut is there to watch over them. Viking world smells of popcorn and hotdogs. It is very big and very noisy and full of very strange people. If Knut wasn’t a true Viking and so brave, he might even find it a little bit scary.
‘Roll up! Roll up, little Viking! Test your strength. Are you worthy to wield Mjolnir, the mighty hammer of Thor? Can you ring the bell?’ ‘Go on, Knut,’ cry the twins. ‘Grab it! Smash it! Hit the bell.’
