WOLFIE

Finds a Friend Written and Illustrated by

OH no- a wolf is coming- hide! everyone hide!

Hurry- the wolf is coming!

Once upon a time, far away, in a deep, dark forest, there was a cave.

In that cave, there lived a lonely, little wolf. His name was Wolfie.

He was a sad, little wolf, as he didn’t have any friends to play with. All he wanted was a friend. One friend.

Some days, Wolfie was so sad and lonely, he would stay in his cave and cry himself to sleep. He would dream of playing with his friends in the forest.

None of the other animals wanted to play with a wolf! They feared him, they thought he was like the BIG BAD WOLF,

and that he was mean and would gobble them up, just like in the stories that were told.

Wolfie would go for walks down to the creek and the blueberry bushes each day, just looking for someone to play with.

But when they saw Wolfie coming down the path, they would all run and hide.

One morning Wolfie woke up early, it was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, and he was hungry. He decided to walk down to the blueberry bushes to have some for breakfast.

He loved blue berries; they were so tasty. He picked and picked, and he ate and ate

until his tummy didn’t feel too well! Wolfie’s tummy hurt!

Wolfie held his tummy and groaned. “Oh no! I ate too many again!

He needed to lay down and hopefully he would feel better after his nap.

So, Wolfie laid down and closed his eyes, and soon, he was fast asleep, snoring.

What? Wwwhat? Wolfie woke up with a start! Did he hear something or was he dreaming? Wolfie sat up, his ears perking up to listen. There it was again! Someone was calling:

Heeeeeeeelpp! Wolfie turned his head, this way, and that way,

trying to figure out where it was coming from.

Heeeeeeeelpp! He heard it again! He knew where it was coming from; Mud Creek! Wolfie ran as fast as he could to Mud Creek.

As he got closer to the creek, he saw something, it was BIG! What is it? Thought Wolfie. He ran faster and as he got closer; he saw it! It was HUGE! It had big spikes on its back, it was RED!

What or who could that be? He asked himself. OH NO! Wolfie had to stop! He dug his paws into the ground and slowly he came to a stop just before he slid into the mud and that THING!

Wolfie was so scared, his legs were trembling, his whole body was shaking, all he could was stand there and stare;

For there in front of him was the BIGGEST, SCARIEST, DRAGON, he had ever saw!

The dragon heard him and tried to see who was there. It was hard to do as his feet were stuck in the mud.

But he managed to turn his body around, Wolfie gulped, oh no! It was looking at him! Wolfie closed his eyes and waited for the dragon to spit fire at him,

but nothing happened.

Wolfie slowly opened his eyes.

The dragon spoke, “hello, my name is Blaze and as you can see, I’m stuck in the mud, do you think you could help me out? Please!”

Wolfie was still very scared, he was still shaking, he wanted to turn and run away as fast as could go but he knew he had to help the dragon. He must be brave and help, so Wolfie slowly smiled and said, “hi, Blaze, my name is Wolfie. I’ll help you out, don’t worry.”

“Wolfie ran and found a stick and ran back. He held it out to the dragon, “ok, grab on and I’ll pull!” said Wolfie. The dragon grabbed the stick and held on as Wolfie pulled with all his might. Wolfie dug his feet in and pulled and pulled!

Wolfie was pulling as hard as he could, he was getting tired, he was starting to pant, when suddenly, POP, POP, the dragon’s feet popped out of the mud.

“Oh, thank you Wolfie, thank you!” Blaze panted. Blaze shook his feet to get the mud off, he too was panting and tired.

They both lay down on the grass and rested. Both were tired from the pulling. “Thanks for pulling me out, I sure was stuck!” whispered Blaze, “ I sure am thirsty!”

His throat was sore from all the yelling he did before. Wolfie stood up, “Come on, I know a place where we can drink and eat. Wolfie took him to the creek.

As they rested, they talked and told each other about themselves. Wolfie told Blaze that he lived over in the caves, not too far from the creek.

And Blaze told Wolfie that he also lives in a cave, over on the high mountains, past the forest.

Blaze laughed as he told Wolfie, “it’s not too far if you fly.

They were having such a good time; then it was time for Blaze to go home. Wolfie waved goodbye as Drake flew away.

Wolfie was so happy! He had made a friend! He knew this was just the beginning of a great friendship. Suddenly, something ran by, and Wolfie heard a buzzing sound. oh no! what could that be?

Here we go again! Wolfie started to run as fast as he could, following the buzzing noise. Onto another adventure.
