When Satan uses guilt
Guilt when used by Satan the devil, is a killer of joy in the human soul. It destroys every moment of happiness and tears down our defences and works deep in our soul to pervert the work of Jesus into a form of punishment instead of forgiveness. It turns the wrongdoings we did into a fear of God, to keep God at a distance, least he speaks to us condemning us because of what we done wrong. Guilt that has gone down deep into the human soul cripples us; it is the greatest source of depression and mental illness know. Inside of us, for the most of us, is a desire to be pleasing to God, to not offend him by sin, which is the cause of guilt in the first place. It goes so far down into us that it is almost impossible to get rid of, even when we know of the lord’s forgiveness.
Every human being on this planet knows guilt, some may say they have no guilt feelings but deep down imbedded inside them is the feeling of guilt, even the most horrific serial killer has feelings of guilt, but have them so much under control that physiatrists that deal with them can’t reach that area where guilt lays. But from the word of God we know that God has planted in every human beings DNA, ‘guilt.’ And for the most of us that guilt stops us from doing harm to others even when we feel like doing it. It stops most of us from committing sin with someone else’s wife or husband; it stops us from stealing, committing crimes of one kind or another. It does not stop all of us because like everything else with God comes the gift of free will, and people can push guilt aside and bury their feelings so carefully. But no matter how deep people bury their feelings of guilt, guilt remains there deep inside simply because God planted it there in them at the moment of conception. Because of the free will given to us man can push aside guilt and take pleasure in doing wrong, and when they surrender their feelings of guilt, they inertly surrender over to Satan’s control, and of course he helps them bury their guilt feelings deeper, and encourages them to sin more and concentrate on the pleasure they get from sinning or hurting others. There is no one on this planet that does not have feelings of guilt no matter what others may claim. God who made man, made man with feelings of guilt, because guilt normally stops us from doing wrong and it lets us know that we offend God.
Guilt reminds us that we have done wrong before our God and father, but when we let guilt go deep down into us it takes root in our souls and is a very difficult thing to uproot, especially for Christians who know the lords forgiveness. Satan uses guilt to cripple us to make us unfit to minister to the lord through worship or praise or ministering to others.
Two
Is guilt a bad thing?
No, guilt is not a bad thing; it is a gift from a loving God who wants us to stay right with him, to not offend him through sin. Guilt is a beautiful gift but when Satan gets control
over it in us then he uses it like a weapon to destroy in us any feeling of closeness with God, and he distorts it to cripple our emotions, to stop us from drawing near to God again and tells us that we done terrible things and can’t be forgiven, that what we done was so bad that God will never forgive us so it is best to stay away from God altogether.
I have wrote about guilt before and I don’t remember what I said in that book, but I felt that I needed to write about it again because of the pain I see in others caused by guilt, and because I know from experience how difficult it is to get rid of the emotions attached to it.
Satan has us focused on the emotions caused by guilt, those feelings that make us feel unworthy, not worth anything, a people displeasing to themselves and displeasing to God. He gets us entwined in a vicious circle, on an emotional roller coaster going round and around with guilt pushing us all the way. Guilt brings with it darkness in our souls that is hard to see through. It stops us from trying to get back to the lord again because when we surrendered to sin, Satan came and worked on our emotions and he blinded us to see the mercy and forgiveness of God, he kept us away from the light of Christ, he wants us to remain in the dark about God’s love and mercy which is for all without exception, so he uses every scripture that tells us not to sin and then reminds us that we have sinned grievously. He lays depression upon us like a dark blanket that covers our very minds with a cloak of despair, and we see no way out.
No matter what we hear of God’s forgiveness, and mercy and love, Satan suggestively says quietly, ‘that doesn’t apply to you,’ ‘it’s only to some others who didn’t sin as bad as you did. because you sinned deliberately, you gave in to sin because you wanted the pleasure of it so you can’t be forgiven, because you wanted to sin, and because you wanted to sin and then sinned that sin is unforgiveable, so there’s no point is asking forgiveness for it.’ He slimily crept up beside you like the snake he is and suggested to you, ‘stay away from God he will punish you when he sees you, and he will punish you terribly so stay away from him he is bad,’ and we believe him because he is the world’s greatest liar and master of deception. And so we sink deeper and deeper into despair through our guilt, and we stay away from scripture and the things of God and the people of God because they will all make us feel even guiltier. And joy vanishes like the morning mist and a cloud of despair covers us like a dark veil.
Three
These are all lies told to us by our greatest enemy, we have the light of the world in us which breaks through every dark cloud of depression offering us that living joy, oneness with Christ Jesus, fellowship with the one who went to the cross on Calvary and seen every dirty filthy immoral sex and lust filled sin and murderous intent in our hearts and still went ahead and suffered and died for us so that our sins would be forgiven for ever more with no recompense, no sever price to pay, just an acceptance of forgiveness and the light bursts in like a million suns shining into that dark recess of our souls. Our souls were never created for darkness or despair they were created to bring us joys in a new relationship with our creator our heavenly father. Guilty dirty secretes are exposed in the light of Christ and asking for forgiveness bursts that darkness in to a bullion pieces with its intensity. We were born creatures of light, made in the divine image of our loving
God made just like Jesus and in fact made from the same substance that Jesus was made out of Holiness, God’s own being.
Do I know what guilt is? Yes I know that heavy feeling, when your eyelids won’t even open unless forced and a heart so heavy that it seems like it will never sing again, and a dullness overcomes you as you sit there in your chair and it seems like you never want to get out of bed or to awake, there’s an emptiness inside you that nothing seems to fill, no TV program, no book nothing can remove that heaviness from you, it sits heavy on your back and even your legs can be affected; it can drive people to insanity. Yes I have lived with those feelings for a long time. That was until I got to know what God really thinks of me, and how God sees me and what he really done for me through his Son Jesus, only then did I dare to rise and dare to think that I was forgiven. I was not a good person in my younger day and I had a heart filled with anger, and lust, Unforgiveness, bitterness and hatred. Then I went to a prayer meeting to make fun of my mother in law and in that meeting God spoke to me and I still remember his words to this moment thirty five years later.
“I am one in three, I am three in one, you are one in me I am one in you.”
“I am one of three, I am three of one, you are one of me, I am one of you.”
God was telling me he was the Holy Trinity. And he included me in that oneness just as in John 20-21- he includes you also.
John -17-21-That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gave me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:23I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. {King James Bible}
Four Afterwards
After God spoke those words to me, they changed me forever, I became a Christian and gave my life to the lord shortly after that, but that didn’t stop me from feeling guilty about my sins.
Nothing much seemed to have changed inside me but underneath the surface I was being slowly changed into the image of God through the power of the Holy Spirit whom I received shortly after I got saved, and it was then that things really began to speed up for me. I became aware of sin the moment I thought of it or committed it and I repented immediately after sinning, the Holy Spirit is in us to bring about change and he is in no hurry, he wants change but honest change, not changing for a week but for a lifetime.
This does not mean that I don’t sin anymore but it means that I have become more holiness conscious and not sin conscious like before. I am more aware of how good God is to me and so I no longer wish to offend him because I love him and he me.
I have written fifteen books on righteousness and I would recommend that if there is anyone there reading this book, it is more than likely that you got it from my website, so go to the pages at the end of the book list and begin with the first book on righteousness and start reading them one after the other.
When you are reading them, God’s Holy Spirit is dropping down into your soul and spirit an awareness of holiness. And you will become like me more interested in the great things God does for us, than sin. Scripture actually says; ‘How can a young man stay pure,’ and it answers by saying, ‘by reading the word of God.’
I know what guilt is like, I know its power to pull you down inside, but I know the answer to guilt and that is knowing that your righteous and holy and forever perfect in the sight of God, always in good standing in the sight of God. Righteousness never leaves us, even if we do sin, it’s just the feelings that pull us down with of course Satan using those feelings to put depression on us and to drag us don deeper into despair. But it is in knowing how much we are loved that lifts us up again and will keep us upright even if we fall at times.
Falling is not the problem, getting up again and going back to God and saying “sorry Lord I blew it,” and thanks for forgiving me again. That is not arrogance but confidence in the love God has for us. God does not want us to grovel at his feet afraid of him, he is a father to us and a good father, in case you may have grown up with a bad father. He is a father who comforts us when we fall into sin; he gave us his own Spirit to soothe us when we fall, feelings like we sold out to the devil for some of us and for others feelings of helplessness, ‘Oh God I done it again!’ ‘I can’t stop myself,’ and depression begins again in its vicious circle.
Guilt is meant to bring an awareness of sin, to be a reminder there is a God watching over us and Satan has taken that role off of guilt and used it for his evil pleasures, to bring down to nothing the children of God, using the good gift of guilt to bring us to ruin and fear of punishment. He uses guilt to kill our joy and happiness. I know that I have written another book on, “The loving gift of guilt,” but I felt drawn to write on this subject again especially after writing on righteousness for the last month or two. The opposite of guilt is forgiveness, the opposite of depression is happiness, and the opposite of heaviness is the light of the world lighting up the darkness in our lives. Too often the children of God suffer from guilt and the wrong side of guilt which can even drive them to suicide. If only those in depression and suicidal feelings could see for themselves that guilt is meant to bring freedom by making them aware of sin and the power of forgiveness; when you ask, your forgiven without having to do any time in a spiritual prison, you are instantly freed from all guilt. Jesus went to the cross on Calvary to take on himself all feelings associated with guilt and sin.
Knowing the truth about guilt does not remove it instantly, it is only when you challenge Satan who uses your guilt to get at you and try and destroy you, and tell him that you know that you are no longer under his deception, you know that you are in right standing with God your father and you know that you are holy.
You have to become aggressive, and stand up to Satan and command him to get off your case, you have to tell him to clear off, you are the one who has to resist the devil and he will flee in terror of you, you have to understand that the devil is terrified of you because of what Jesus done for you. no one else is going to drive the devil away from you, no one else has the power to do this, only you can stand your ground and resist him and only you can command him to leave by using the word of God as a weapon against him, you have to fight for your life because it is your life and not someone else’s life that you need to fight for.
You can’t just sit there in apathy and let him walk all over you time and time again, you have to resist him, as I said a moment ago; no one else has the power to drive him out if you won’t fight back against him.
Five
A scripture to use against Satan’s lies
Iamnotgoingtofillyouwithscripturebutyouneedtoknowthatyouhavebeenforgiven and all guilt is gone. And if Satan tries to creep back in again do this again and again until he is too scared to return or too scared to send someone else to torment you. you will have to fight, but your worth fighting for.
Romans-3-21- but now apart from the law; the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. {NIV Bible}
{Your righteousness comes through faith in Jesus the Christ the Messiah, it is faith in him that makes you righteous, giving you right standing with God and Jesus, trusting Jesus is faith.} That scripture gave you righteousness with God; it is his righteousness you have received. And righteousness means that you are always good as far as God is concerned.
Romans-3-22-Now God says he will accept us and declare us not guilty, if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins.
23- Yes all have sinned, all fall short of God’s glorious ideal; yet now God declares us “not guilty” of offending him if we trust in Christ Jesus who in his kindness freely takes away our sins. {The Way Bible}
What greater joy to know that ‘all’ have sinned as well as me, and what a joy to know that I am forgiven and declared not guilty by none other than God himself. You are not guilty of offending God and it is himself that says this not I.
Tell the devil to get lost because you are not offending God anymore and he needs to know you mean that with all your heart. It will be a battle for a day or two or for some a little longer but the more determined you are to give Satan the devil the boot the less time it will take to get rid of him and his little helpers for good. It may take just one time to get rid of guilt and Satan, or it may take a little while resisting the lies Satan tells you again; Don’t listen to him, to those little thoughts that creep up on you; everyone has little thought creep up on them, the choice we have is to resist them in Jesus name. Get away from me devil in Jesus name. That name Jesus, will drive him away every time.
The bible, the word of God is a spiritual sword, it is a weapon that God gave us to fight the supernatural with; you need to know that the sword is for your use and works for you just as much as it does for all others who have had enough of Satan’s guilty feelings and depression and heaviness, and it is a mighty weapon when wielded by the hand of someone who has had enough of Satan’s treatment of them.
For the love of God and for your sanity, beat the living crap out of him with that sword, stop sitting around moping like a little sissy when you have Almighty God on your side, you have the Holy Trinity living inside of you; you have the greater one inside you, {Jesus} the one who defeated Satan and stripped him naked and left him stripped naked. You have to get mad at him, and drive him out by using your sword; the word of God, the greater one is in me Satan, get the hell out of my mind and life in the name of Jesus. That name is the greatest sword anyone can swing; Jesus gave you his own name to use against Satan the devil and all evil spirits that are tormenting you.
Picture in your mind that Satan the devil is standing naked in front of you, and remember he is terrified of you resisting him because he knows that he will have to flee, {run in terror} from you. Now start wielding that sword at him. I have included a command just a few lines down; go to there after you have read this and do what it says. Force him out of your life, it is your life, and if he tries to influence you by talking about your guilt, tell him all my guilt is paid for by Jesus, now get off my back. Use whatever words that cause you to get angry, anger is not a sin, remember Jesus got angry, he made a whip and drove the money changers out of his Fathers temple, that’s not the action of a weak feeble man, he was a man in anger over something he saw, his Fathers temple was turned into a market place.
We Christians have power and authority over the devil and I know the power and authority I have over the devil, but it won’t work if you don’t want guilt and depression to be gone from your life. The devil will leave at my command if I prayed with you, you can be sure of that, because I am; but he will sneak back in again later after I leave. I have the greater one in me and that is Jesus the one who defeated him in the first place who stripped him naked as the day he was created. You also have the greater one in you.
You, if you are a Christian, have that same power in you, you have the power that created the universe and the distant galaxies and space, living inside you, and you only need to rise up and say, enough is enough, time to go liar.
Do not say this like you are saying a prayer, rise up in anger for the way you have been treated. Command Stan and his evil spirit of guilt to get out of you, like you were telling some dog to get out of your house. Scream if you have to “but don’t pray,” yell if you wish to, {make sure you’re on your own} but get angry, he screwed your life up with feelings of guilt, and blamed God for making you feel guilty; guilt is a good thing in the hands of a forgiving God, but not in the hands of an evil being who wants to destroy you.
Don’t pray, god gave you the power to command Satan to go in Jesus name. Picture in your mind that Satan the devil is standing naked in front of you, and remember he is terrified of you resisting him
{Command him}
{“Satan get your filthy hands off of me, I am a righteous child of the living God, I am holy, I am clean, I am righteous and it is because my saviour made me like this.”
“I believe him over you and now it’s time for you to get away from me in the name of the almighty son of God, Jesus,”
“In Jesus name get out now and don’t come back.”}
Pray this prayer now
“Father God, I command light to fill those dark areas of my mind and soul where Satan filled with lies, and I break every lie he ever told me in Jesus name.} Amen
