The little healing kettle meets the music ministry.
Chapter 1
A Stranger is healed.
Sitting at the back of the room the little kettle sat boiling away he felt so contented he had such a warm feeling inside. It was almost time for the tea ladies to come to pour out the tea for the folks who came to the prayer meeting. Humming away to himself he looked around. He saw the chairs sitting so straight and proud and the people sitting attentively on them. The books were on the table looking very important and new. He loved the smell of new books; they smelt with information was how he described them to himself. Hmmm, I am so glad to be serving God and his people he breathed quietly to himself bubbling away. He turned his switch off, "do not want to waste too much water" he thought to himself, there's quite a crowd here tonight. Life for the little kettle was so good since he discovered that he was a part of the healing ministry. His whole life had been filled with a desire to serve God and his people and that desire had been answered. {Read, The Little Healing Kettle}
He listened as they stood up to sing the last song. Oh great he
said, its, "Marching in the light of God" It was one of his favourite hymns. He switched himself back on and began to reheat preparing for the arrival of the tea ladies.
"I’M marching in the light of God. I’M marching in the light of God. I’M marching in the light of God. I’M marching in the light of God. I am marching, I am marching oh ho. I’M marching in the light of God. I am marching, I am marching oh ho I am marching in the light of God"
He bobbed up and down as he sang along with the people not noticing some water was spilling over he was so excited as he sang. His heart was filled with joy; he loved his prayer meeting. Thepastorfinishedtheservicewithaprayerofthanksgiving then invited everyone to stay for a cup of tea or coffee and for a chat. And a chance to meet and make some new friends or to receive prayer for healing
The little kettle felt Eileen's hand lift him up. "Oh yes the kettle has boiled" she said, "this little chap never lets us down she beamed." Now who's for tea and whose for coffee? She asked as she began pouring the hot water into the teapot and the coffee-cups. It will only take a few moments to refill this little kettle and boil some hotter water for a second cup. While everyone was sipping their tea and coffee and eating sandwiches and buns the little kettle was looking around him. He saw old John who played the piano. Old John was a man who had a great heart for God, he loved playing the piano and even though he was very old he could still tinkle those ivories, and would have you jumping to your feet with excitement. He was a great character full of the Holy Spirit and full of laughter. He was always telling jokes to people and had them laughing. He
had a great way of bringing those who were feeling down to feeling much better with his fun and jokes and of course his music. He was well loved within the meeting. There is Mary Jane hovering around making sure everyone has their tea or coffee stopping for a little chat with everyone, and letting those in the healing ministries know if some of the new people needed a little prayer. She is such a sweet soul thought the little healing kettle; she never misses a thing, always looking out for those in need. And there is Fred and Shamus two of the strongest prayer warriors in the prayer group that the little kettle knew. Now when those two agreed to pray for you, you got your prayers answered and quickly. They had tremendous faith.
Looking around him some more the little kettle spied George, a quiet kindly man who smoked a pipe there he was puffing away contentedly. George looked after the chairs, he was responsible for coming in early and leaving after everyone had gone to put the chairs out and to put them away. Not far from him was Linda who helped George with the chairs and with the cleaning. She was talking to Rosalyn a very holy woman who was in chargeof thebookstall. BeforeRosalyn would purchase a book she would ask the lord if this book would help some member of the prayer group and if the answer were yes she would then purchase the book. She has never bought a book that did not help someone; she was very blessed with wisdom. At the back of the hall stood Lila, a formidable woman of stout build she had a round rugged face, short brown curly hair and a very kind of disposition despite her looks. You would never get away with doing wrong since Lila was about. She sorted out the troublemakers who came to mock or disrupt the meeting or to make fun of the prayer group members and sad to say thereweretroublemakerswhocameattimestocausemischief,
to mock and disrupt the meeting. Lila stood no nonsense, she couldhandle a mischief maker in a way that they did not even realise, quietly talking to them but letting them know that she was capable of dealing with them if need be. Not too many people caused trouble with Lila around. She was truly a gentle giant of a woman whose looks served her position well.
Who's this? Asked the little kettle, talking to himself. "I never saw this man before" He watched as the man went forward for prayer he seemed to be holding himself rather stiffly he thought,likehewasinpainofsomekind.H,mm.Imustwatch. Maybe I will see God perform a healing on this man. He stretched himself to have a better view. He saw the man sit down and the prayer team talking to him then they laid hands on him and began to pray. The little kettle bowed his head and began to pray also. "Oh lord, please touch this man with you're healing power and remove his pain, amen. Looking up again he witnessed the man straighten himself up then he stood up and began to bend and stretch and move his arms around and around. Delight filled his face as he realised that all his pain had gone. Tears were streaming down the mans face his eyes alight with gratitude, as he said, Its all gone! My pain is all gone he exclaimed in surprised joy! "God is rea,l this is all true!" "God really does love me and forgives me." Thank you Lord God, thank you," he cried out and throwing his arms around Ray Blaney the leader of the prayer team he hugged him warmly, then he turned to the rest of the team and hugged them also.
Declan Clarke a heavy built bearded young man was calling out in a voice booming all around the prayer room "Praise the lord for he is good" the very cups rattled with the sound of his
voice. My Goodness smiled the little kettle Declan Clarke has one powerful voice you could hear him from the other side of town. Once Declan began praising God you just got the urge to get up on you feet and follow his lead he praised the lord with great gusto and people naturally followed his lead. This man had a love for the lord that was hard for anyone to equal. "Amen Brother" shouted Richard another member of the healing team. Richard was a thin tall man with dark hair and wore glasses. Richard's wife had passed away a few years ago; he was a man who had a great compassion for those who were terminally ill, and many a miracle God performed through him, healing those for whom there was no human hope. He is a lovely man thought the little kettle. Standing just behind Richard and to the right of him was Kathy, a silver white haired woman of modest stature. This woman could pray up a storm. She had tremendous determination when praying. She never gave up until God answered her prayer request. God help the devil that trod on her toes or on the toes of those for whom she prayed for and with. For a woman of light stature she was a heavyweight in the prayer arena. And the devil tiptoed past her home when he visited her neighbourhood.
When these prayer warriors started praying with you things happened, theywereanawesomebunchofjoyfilledChristians.
The little healing kettle drifted off into a daze as he thought of all the wonders and miracles he saw God work through this prayer team. Thinking back over the years he remembered when each one of them came to the prayer meeting. How much they have grown in the power of the lord. Each one had come,
hungry to find God and find God they sure did, and over the years their faith in the love of God and his healing and power continued growing daily.
Would you like a cup of tea? The little kettle was brought out of his day dreaming by thesound of Eileen's voiceas sheasked the man who was healed through the prayer team. "Yes please I would love one I’M parched" "Have a seat and I will bring you one over," replied Eileen pointing to the chairs at the side of the room. The man went over and sat down he was smiling to himself, he looked the picture of happiness.
The little kettle began to boil as the water inside him warmed up. He was feeling warm anyway from the contentment he felt, as he loved his prayer meeting so much it was where God wanted him to be and he knew that. Eileen poured some water out of him into a cup and carried both the cup of tea and the little kettle over to where the man was sitting and sat them both down on a table beside him. "Ill get you a sandwich," says Eileen, as she goes off again returning quickly with a plate-full of fresh toasted sandwiches. Sitting down beside the young man Eileen poured herself out a cup of tea and began talking to him. Eileen had a remarkable way of making a person feel at ease as she shared. As he listened to them talking the little kettle heard Eileen tell the young man, whose name she found out to be Frank, that she too was healed the first night she came to the prayer group. She revealed that she had a cancer in her lungs and that the lord healed her on that very first night. They all sat praising God among sips of tea. Frank informed Eileen that he was a musician who played the guitar and the violin also, and had appeared on TV and played on radio, hewas also a singer and songwriter. "My goodness," exclaimed Eileen.
"Would you ever consider coming to the prayer meeting and playing the guitar and violin for us with John our piano player." "I know John would love to have you join with him, he says some of the modern songs just do not sound right played with piano accompaniment." "I would be honoured replied Frank, "If your sure John would not mind." "I would love to come to give thanks to God for healingmeandthebestwayIcandothatisthroughmymusic." John! Called Eileen. "Would you come over here a minute I want you to meet someone." John was just walking past when Eileen called and he turned and approached them smiling. "This is Frank, he plays the guitar and violin and wants to know if it's ok with you if he could join with you at the music next week. I told him it would be ok. But he says you are the musician and you are in charge and would like your approval. "Delighted my boy delighted," beamed John. "I could do with thehelp someofthesenewsongsjustdo notsuitthepiano they need asofter touch." They shook hands and began to talk about music; just then Eileen lifted the little kettle up and whisked him away.
"Hey I’M interested to hear what is being said," called out the little kettle, but Eileen just did not understand him he just seemed to be making boiling noises to her. Ah well it serves me right for being too nosy laughed the little kettle.
Chapter 2
A wondrous sound was heard.
The next week everyone gathered for the prayer meeting and as they sat down the little kettle could see that Frank had indeed come and brought his guitar and violin with him. He could just about make out the sound of him tuning his guitar and violin to John's piano. Everyone settled down as the prayer group leader Rosa O'Donnell stood up to welcome everyone in. "I would like to welcome you all here tonight and also to welcome Frank Mc Kinney who will be joining John with the music tonight."
She called the blessing of Almighty God down on the meeting and pleaded the precious blood of Jesus over everyone present. "Lets focus on praising the lord, really give him your heart, and sing to him from every fibre within you for his glory and honour and praise. "
"Ok John take it away," John and Frank began to play the hymn He is worth of honour. "He is worthy honour worthy of glory worthy of praise is he," they really belted it out among them. The little kettle noticed that the guitar and piano really blended in so well it was like they were playing together for a long time it was so good. The belted out some quicker hymns and the people stood up and danced in praise of the lord, hands
lifted high giving glory to God for his goodness and mercy. Then they began to slow the music down a little bit bringing the people to a quieter worshipful mood. John and Frank were in their element glorifying God from all their hearts helping the people to become sensitive to the Holy Spirit. The mood of the music changed and slowed down to an even softer gentler hymn as they began to play. Lay your hands gently upon us. Frank took up his violin and began playing; John softened his piano to let the strain of the violin be heard. And what a sound came from this instrument, this was a master playing the violin. And as he fingered the notes and touched the strings with his bow it was like angels were singing. The presence of God filled the room and people fell to the floor quietly under the power of the Holy Spirit, they rested in the Spirit and were receiving healing as they lay there. The haunting sound of the violin filledtheroomand everyoneknewthatGodwaspleased with this new addition to their music. The air was charged with power and was touching everyone. People were weeping quietly touched by the music and by the awesome presence of God. Such healing filled the room. The little kettle was weeping so much he could not see his eyes were overflowing as the sound of the music filled his little kettle heart. When Frank finished playing not a sound could be heard in the room. Everyone was still, holding their breath in wonder and awe of God and his musicians. No one stirred for about ten minutes then someone began to applaud and then everyone began to applaud with a thunderous sound. "Glory, glory, glory, Lord God on high praise be the name of Jesus Lord of Lords and king of kings," the voice of Declan Clarke boomed out. "Thank you Father for sending us this man with such a beautiful gift of music." You have anointed your servant wonderfully.
The praise and worship continued as John and Frank led the people into worship and praise. People just continued falling under the power of the Holy Spirit as the music took them to new levels of worship. When the meeting drew to a close everyone was red eyed from weeping so much and everyone's face was shining with a newfound joy and happiness.
The little kettle did not even remember switching himself on, but felt himself getting warmer and warmer until he began to boil over. Then he switched himself off he was in a daze his mind was filled with the sound of the wondrous music he heard tonight. My goodness he though that was awesome I never heard praise and worship like that before, nor did I ever hear such beautiful music. Turning to the little teapot beside him he asked. "Did you ever hear anything like that violin, wasn’t it beautiful?" The little teapot did not answer she was away in another world her mind still taking in all that happened.
The little milk jug sitting beside the teapot spoke up his voice in a whisper. " Amazing just amazing was all he kept saying." Milk running from his eyes. The little kettle never heard the cups and saucers so quiet in all his time at the meetings they usually rattled and clattered nosily. Tonight it was if they were afraid to break the peaceful atmosphere. Pity they could not be like that every night thought the little kettle, then corrected himself, and said, "sorry Lord forgive me!"
After everyone had left the hall the little kettle settled down for the night sighing deep peaceful sighs. What a night! Oh praise the lord. Soon he was asleep drifting off to a far away place where he worked miracles and healing and helped people he was such a contented little kettle.
Chapter
The following week
There was an air of excited expectancy tonight as the meeting hall began to fill up. The little kettle noticed that there was a larger number of people here tonight, word of last weeks blessing had spread around and many more people had come to hear and see what was going on.
The little kettle was distracted from his thoughts by the sound of someone speaking roughly saying, this is all a farce there is no God. A small beautiful dark haired woman was trying to shush him, saying. "Be quiet I did not force you to come, you were the one who wanted to come because you heard there was someone playing beautiful violin music." "And also because you heard about all the healing that took place here last week." "Ah! I’M only here for a laugh "God! There is no such thing." "Would you keep it down," his poor wife asked obviously embarrassed by the loudness in his voice.
"Right right, I will be quiet but do not expect me not to laugh at all this stuff we heard about them speaking in tongues." He let out a large roar of laughter, and his poor wife shuddered visibly.
Poor woman thought the little kettle, imagine being married to him! God help her. He watched as everyone made their way to the seating area and took their seat. Shortly afterwards Rosa O'Donnell stood up to welcome everyone in and a special welcome was given to all the newcomers. Rosa said, lets all focus on Jesus and lets begin with our first
hymn of the evening. John and frank struck up with a lively hymn "Walking in the light" and followed it with "Be bold, be strong, for the lord our God is with you," a really lively upbeat hymn which had everyone singing along with it. Even the newcomers seemed to be enjoying this hymn. Everyone was standing on their feet clapping their hands in time to the music, all except the man with the loud voice, he sat there motionless his arms folded across his chest his face set like flint. When the hymns ended the people from the prayer group began to worship God shouting out his praises. Louder than everyone ofcoursewasthevoiceofDeclanClarke, boomingout,"praise the lord alleluia, glory to God on high" Declan seemed to be in even better voice tonight it was like he was giving his all to the lord and holding nothing back such was his enthusiasm. With him above all the rest was the combined voices of Ray and Richard and Kathy, mingling praises with tongues of praise and worship. Soon everyone was entering into praise as even the newcomers found themselves free to express their thanks and praise to God. The music ministries entered another hymn "Nothing but the blood of Jesus." And a different atmosphere entered the room as people fell to their knees in worship and adoration of the blood of Jesus; many were coming under a conviction, and were weeping tears of repentance for their sins. Between his own tears the little kettle saw the loud man stand on his feet, his arms still folded but a strange look was upon his face and he was sheet white. His little wife was staring at him bewildered by his action and look. Next thing she saw was his hand's going straight up into the air as if some unseen force dragged them upright. The loud man was turning even whiter if that were possible and the little kettle saw a heavenly light come down on him and completely engulf him the man was transfixed. Suddenly the loud man shouted out,
"forgivemelordfornotbelieving, pleaseforgiveme,Ibelieve, I believe, yes! Yes! I believe I love you Lord, thank you." His poor little wife fell back down into her chair with shock at seeing her husband, she stared at him and could not take her eyes off him, and tears were flooding from her eyes, as she understood that God was touching her unbelieving husband. Declan Clarke's voice was drowned out by the voice of the loud man as he called out his praises, he was so loud that Declan stopped praising and began to watch him. Then like a tree being felled by a lumberjack the loud man fell back unto the floor with a crash that shook the room. He was being "rested in the spirit," some called it "slain in the spirit," and tonight that sure looked like what just happened to him. Everyone fell silent and the music ministry began to play a haunting melody of tunes that gave testimony to Gods saving grace. Everyone knew even the newcomers that God was at work in this man. They could see the transformation on his face; it was like there was a different man being created before their eyes. As the music ministry began to play "Amazing Grace," Everyone began to sing along with it but so soft it was like feathers falling to the earth. It was awesome to listen to. The little kettle never heard anything like this in all of his kettle life. This was a holy silence singing, if words could describe it. It was like angel voices were coming out of human mouths. People began falling to the floor backwards falling against chairs and other people but the strange thing was there was no sound when they fell so no one was disturbed, and no one even noticed them fall they wereso caughtup in thepresenceof their Lord and savior.
At the end of Amazing Grace the music ministry began to play scales on their instruments and then began to sing in tongues softly, other voices joined quietly in with them. Everyone was in awe of God and their spirits testified to this as their tongues
began to rise like the crest of a wave of the sea until they reached a crescendo. From out of the mouth of the loud man on the floor came a torrent of tongues the likes of which no one had ever heard before. It was like every language on the earth and yet not of the earth was pouring from his mouth as he gave praise to God in his new language of tongues. Slowly he rose to his feet, his face glowing with a brightness that hurt the eyes when you looked directly at him. The music ministry entered into another verse of "Amazing Grace" and the loud man joined in the singing with them. He had the most beautiful singing voice you ever heard. The little kettle was sitting staring in amazement. "Is this the same loud mouth that came in here earlier," he asked himself? "The guy who did not believe in God or all this?"
When the meeting was over, Frank and John approached the loud mouth man. You have an amazing singing voice, John told him. Would you ever consider coming to this meeting and joining Frank and I in the music ministry. Everyone was touched by your singing and especially you're singing in tongues, you must be a long time going to prayer meetings to have such confidence. You were awesome, said Frank smiling at the loud mouth man.
I have never been to a prayer meeting before, replied loud mouth, shaking his head in disbelief at all that had happened to him. I thought that this stuff was a joke I just came to have a laugh, and to make fun of my poor wife, she believes in all this stuff! Oh God what happened to me? God touched you with his love, replied John softly. The compassion of God has melted your heart and touched you deeply. He loves you so much and has let you know tonight
that all your sins are forgiven through Jesus dying for you. It happened to me also, said Frank and told loud mouth of his experience.
God sure is moving in a powerful way at this meeting these days. John spoke up. I never seen the power of God so strong in all my years at these meetings. It’s awesome, its like God is doing a new thing here and bringing it slowly together.
Here you are darling! Are you all right? Asked the anxious wife of loud mouth as she approached him with a cup of tea and a biscuit, her eyes registering puzzlement and shock. What has happened to this man of mine she thought what in the name of God was all that about. The two men excused themselves and said. Remember your more than welcome to come to join us, we meet an hour before the meeting begins to pray and seek the lord for the right music, the music he wants us to play. And they left an open mouthed loud mouth with his little dark haired wife.
Barney are you ok? the little woman asked her still shocked husband.
Aye, I am, he answered, it's amazing the peace I feel inside me Theresa. I am so sorry for all the times I made fun of you and God. I did not realise it was real. God’s real. All this stuff is real its amazing. Every part of me is so much at peace. I’M tingling all over. I know love. God is so good. Take your tea then lets go home we can talk on the way, we will walk tonight it's beautiful outside so calm and clear, there is a lovely full moon out tonight.
Most of the people in the prayer meeting came over to wish Barney and Theresa well and talked of how beautiful a singer Barney was, and how his singing touched them all. What a
night thought Theresa. Thank you God for touching Barney he is a good man he just needed you in his life. On their way home Barney could not stop talking, telling Theresa of his experience with God, and how he felt when he rested in the spirit, the cleansing that went through him was amazing. Theresa laughed at how often Barney said amazing. Everything was amazing with him and indeed it was amazing. Yes Lord you are amazing, she laughed out aloud. Her heart burned with love for Barney and for her lord and savior Jesus the two men in her life. It is amazing, I can have two men in my life and it is perfectly ok, and she laughed aloud again. Barney was too engrossed in his experience to notice Theresa laughing.
Barney joins the music ministry.
It was the night of the prayer meeting; Barney was sitting talking with Theresa. Remember those two men who asked me if I would like to join them in the music ministry, well I have been giving it a lot of thought over the week, and it might be nice if I did join with them for a while to see if it worked out. How would you feel if I was to join them?
Oh Barney! I would be so pleased to see you singing and playing your music for the Lord. Did you tell them that you played the saxophone and the flute also? No, I was in such a daze I never thought of it, Replied Barney. It will mean we would have to be there an hour earlier than everyone else. That is no problem I can offer to help out, they probably need extra help with so many new people coming. Theresa said. Theresa and Barney set off for the prayer meeting, Theresa carrying Barney’s silver flute proudly, she was so proud of Barney. There was such a change in her man in just a week. He was softer spoken, more thoughtful, very considerate and became very prayerful, he prayed for hours in tongues as he worked about the house, she could hear him singing and praying, her heart rejoiced to hear her beloved Barney sounding so happy, because she knew Barney had not been very happy within himself for a long time.
Hmmm, there is super mouth back this week again, muttered the little kettle to himself, God can sure pick them. He looks different tonight though and his little wife looks so different too.
Hullo there Greeted John and Frank who were just getting tuned up with their instruments. Welcome, we are glad to see you. What is this you have with you? Do you play an instrument?
Yes he does, and he is very good, piped up Theresa. He is very shy and was not going to bring them but I said you would be glad with more instruments what with the larger crowds coming
We sure are, there is quite a crowd expected tonight again, the prayer meeting is the talk of the town the last few weeks, said John. It is great to see God moving in this way, drawing more people in to his kingdom. Right lets tune up and then we can pray together for a while and see where God is leading us tonight.
Theresa went to help George and Linda with the chairs.
While the three men tuned up their instruments the little kettle surveyed the room. He noticed that they had pushed back the room divider to make more room. It is a good thing that this hall is such a large place he thought, and these dividers make the room more comfortable for everyone when there is only a small crowd. He was not sure whether he liked the room larger it seemed to make everyone seem further away and he did not like that. He hoped he would be able to hear everything that went on, what with so many people and not everyone there just to praise and worship the lord. There were the usual sightseers there curious to see what was going on. Oh well as long as they are here God can touch them when he wants, I should not complain.
Oh my God what is that noise? Said the little kettle brought back from his day dreaming with a jolt, heavens above it sure
is loud! He turned around to get a better look and saw that the loud mouth man was tuning up a saxophone. I might have known it would be him. God but he is noisy. It was the first time that the little kettle had heard a saxophone and he did not like it, he thought it was too noisy for a prayer meeting. A prayer meeting should be lively but quiet and reverend, not noisy or loud. I think God made a big mistake with this guy; everything about him is noisy and loud. Then Barney began to tune his silver flute and began to play some scales on it. Hmmm, that is better thought kettle, that is not a bad instrument more quiet and heavenly sounding, not like his noisy saxophone. Just then people began to arrive and Eileen the tea lady came over and lifted the little kettle and began to fill him with water.
I think your going to have your work cut out for you tonight, said Eileen to the little kettle, it is a good job that you are a fast boiler.
Soon the little kettle forgot about Barney the loud mouth, he began to concentrate on his prayers getting ready to welcome the lord to his prayer meeting, he switched himself off to all that was going on around him and focused his mind on Jesus.
Right everyone, lets settle down and have everyone seated please we are about to begin our meeting, and I first of all would like to welcome everyone here, and a special welcome to Barney who has just joined our music ministry, spoke Rosa O’ Donnell the leader of the prayer meeting. I would like to open the meeting with this scripture.
Psalm-150-3- Praise him with the trumpet and with lute and harp. Praise him with tambourines and processional. Praise him with stringed instruments and horns. Praise him with the
cymbals, yes, and loud clanging cymbals. Let everything alive give praise to the lord! You praise him! Hallelujah!
Huh! I never heard that scripture before though the little kettle, I thought everything was supposed to be relatively quiet and reverend. Oh dear! I am so sorry Lord I done it again, remarked the little kettle as the meaning of the scripture sunk in. God loved loud praise not just quiet reverence. I misjudged someone, someone whom you obviously knew better. I thought that this man Barney was just a loud mouth please forgive me Lord. Never judge a book by its cover, were the words spoken to the little kettle’s mind as God corrected his thinking.
Just then the music ministry struck up with, I will enter his gates with thanksgiving in my heart. Followed by this is the day the Lord has made. Then they went straight into. Going up to the high places. A song, which Frank had, wrote. It was a lively song with lots of actions in it that had the people standing on their feet, clapping their hands and doing all the actions as Frank directed them. It was a very upbeat song and the sound of the saxophone set the place jumping. The music ministry led the people into a great volume of praise and worship as everyone enjoyed him or herself and enjoyed the presence of God. This was a new experience for the little healing kettle; he was bopping up and down as his little kettle heart beat, boom boom. My God was he enjoying himself the music tonight was so different it made you want to dance and sing it was great. God is not stupid he thought he knows what suits everyone best. The little kettle had notice there were a lot of young people there tonight and he could see them jumping up and
down in time to the music obviously enjoying themselves. The praise just kept getting stronger and stronger and louder and the little kettle whistled and shouted out as loud as his little kettle voice could as he praised God with new depths. In between the praising and singing he was laughing he was experiencing so much joy he just bubbled up with happiness. God is so good. The music ministry sang lots of new lively songs tonight as the spirit of God led them. Their singing in tongues was awesome with the instruments playing scales as everyonesangpraisesandgaveglorytoGodonhigh.Thelittle kettle had jumped up and down so much he did not notice his lid had come off, and was sitting on his head tilted sideways.
Amen brothers and sisters, called Rosa O’ Donnell, as she drew the meeting to a close. What! said the little kettle, it could not be that time already, sure there was no quiet time tonight yet. But it was. Everyone was enjoying himself or herself so much that no one noticed the time go by.
Soon Eileen came over to him and saw that his lid was off and that he was already boiling hot, she fixed his lid and said, my goodness you are hot tonight little fellow, you must have really enjoyed yourself. She commenced to pour out the tea into the teapot and then into the cups. Then as she got to the last cup of tea she let out a cry, Oh praise you Jesus Praise you, it is a miracle, it is a miracle, look everybody and see for yourselves. Everyone rushed over to where she was standing with the little kettle in her hand to see what had happened. What is it? Asked Raymond Blaney.
Look and see for yourself, I just poured out the tea for everyone and look the kettle is still full and I normally would
fill the little kettle up a few times before everyone gets their tea orcoffee.Look,lookandsee!Andthewaterisstillboilinghot.
The little kettle was stunned. God was working a miracle in him for all to see and he was so busy complaining about loud mouth, oops! Sorry, Barney, He did not even notice what was happening to him. Everybody that gathered around looked inside the little kettle and saw for him or herself that he was still filled.
Lets see what happens said a scornful voice, everyone drink your tea then watch what happens and see if this Miracle happens again. Everyone drank their tea quickly and passed back their cup to Eileen. Eileen praised the lord as she filled each cup up to the brim and even as she poured she could see that the water level never went down and that the water temperature never changed. It is a miracle, said the same scornful voice, the scorn now gone and replaced with awe, it really is true she never filled it again and its still full.
All the young people there thought that this was fantastic they had a great night, lively music and a miracle happened that they could all see. As they left the hall that night they said they would be back and with their friends also, this is not what we thought a prayer meeting would be like we thought it would be dowdy and with dull music but this is great, said a young red haired man.
After the people left the meeting that night, Rosa O’ Donnell asked the team members to stay behind for a little, to discuss what has been happening over the last few weeks.
The Lord has been telling me that he is increasing the size of the prayer meeting and adding new members to our music ministry and he wants us to change some thing. I want all of you to pray about this so that we will do exactly as God directs.
Music ministry you were awesome tonight, I never entered into such loud praise in my entire life like I did tonight it was fantastic; I never knew my voice could get so loud, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I believe that God wants us to get a public address system. He told me the hall will be filled even more next week and that the people need to be able to hear everything clearly so they can participate in everything. Lets ask him to supply a PA system. Excuse me, said Barney. I have a PA system at home I no longer use it and we can use it here, it is a good system, it has graphic equalisers on it. He saw the puzzled look on their faces and turned beetroot red. Frank and John laughed and explained in simple terms, that it had a good clear sound perfect for the hall.
The Lord also told me that I need to bring more of you into the leadership with me as more is going to be expected of us, he is going to be doing a great work with us, he does not want me to be doing this on my own. He told me he wants to appoint Ray, Declan and Kathy as leaders, to help oversee the plans he has if they agree and if everyone else is in agreement. And we need to meet on a different night as well to pray for the prayer meeting, to seek his direction. Everyone agreed and so they arranged a night for the new leaders to meet and left for home.
After they had Gone the little kettle sat very humble before the lord, weeping in sorrow for the way he misjudged Barney. I
will never call him loud mouth or super mouth again Lord. And Lord thank you for working your miracle through me. And this miracle will stay with you in your memory forever, the Lord replied
Wasn’t that just fantastic kettle?
Looking up the little kettle saw that it was the teapot that was talking to him.
Yes indeed, he replied, just brilliant. You know after last week I never thought anything could equal the meeting but this week was just as fantastic. The teapot continued. I was jumping up and down and could hardly keep my tea bags in I was so excited. Oh, Isn’t God great? Milk jug and I were wondering would you like to join with us in a time of thanksgiving, Cups and saucers want to give thanks also for the miracle they experienced through you, and the chairs wont stand still they are just too excited, and brush and mop are still dancing away at the back of the hall.
I would be honoured replied the little kettle, surprised that everyone wanted to continue giving praise. They normally just went to sleep after the meetings and he was usually left alone with his thoughts, but tonight was different, there was still an air of excitement in the room caused by the Lord’s lingering presence.
So kettle joined with his friends and together they sang and praised long into the night.
Another person joins the music ministry
During the following week, cups and saucers and teapot, together with the little healing kettle had a wonderful time praising the lord. Brush and mop never sat down, the floor was sparkling clean with their constant dancing, and everyone was looking forward to the next meeting. The air was filled with excitement the atmosphere was electric.
As the hall began to fill up the little kettle watched as each person entered the room, he noticed that there were even more new faces tonight and lots of young people. Some with the most ridiculous hairstyles he had ever seen. One young man had his head shaved except for the middle part, which was sticking up in the air at an alarming height, and it was bright orange and green. He looked like he had his finger sticking into the electric light socket, his face was sheet white and with the orange and green hair he looked ridiculous, at least to the little kettle. What's the world coming to the little kettle mused? Then he noticed that there were even more young people arriving with crazy hairstyles and even weirder clothing. Then he laughed to himself as he saw some old folk coming in and some of the clothes they wore were just as funny looking. 'I guess it's all to do with changing style,' he said shaking his little head.
Shortly after everyone had arrived and were seated, Rosa O' Donnell opened the meeting and invited everyone to stand and greet the lord as the music ministry struck up with the hymn.
'How great is our God.' Then switching to, 'Walk in the light.' And continuing on with an up beat version of, 'Know you not you're the temple.' Everyone entered into the music as the ministry played the chorus and verses a few times to familiarise the people with the songs. The little kettle noticed that the young people entered into things with more gusto than the older folk who seemed almost afraid of enjoying themselves. As the music ministry slowed the music down a little, the atmosphere began to change and the little kettle sensed the presence of the Holy Spirit descending upon the room very softly. 'Come Holy Spirit,' was the next hymn sung, and as it was sung the strain of the violin began to rise above the singing. Oh, but it was beautiful! Then there was another sound that the little kettle never heard before it blended in with the violin so easily that it was hard to distinguish the two, a more mellow sound that lifted your heart and mind up to the lord, it felt like angelic music. The little kettle wondered were there angels present playing their heavenly instruments. Then as one of the young people fell to the floor under the power of the Holy Spirit he got a better view and saw that it was loud mouth. 'Oh sorry Lord'! It was Barney playing some kind of instrument. It was long and thin and he played it sideways, gosh it is so beautiful the sound of this thing and the violin together, such harmony from two instruments he never heard before, they blended like toast and cheese, like coffee and cream, like, like? He struggled to find a comparison to the sound but couldn't, so he settled for 'just heavenly.'
All around the room people began to fall to the floor as the Holy Spirit touched them changing their lives forever. Soon only the music ministry were the only ones left standing, they were so engrossed in the ministering to the Lord that the never
noticed that no one was singing and that all had rested in the spirit. Then the Spirit descended on the music ministry and they sank gently to the floor, and as they slid silently to the floor, the cups and saucers began rattling ever so softly a lovely tinkling sound like bells ringing, milk jug began singing and was joined by teapot, mop and broom began to move gently making a sound like maracas gently shaking. Little kettle was spellbound, he never even realised that he was singing in harmony with his fellow utensils. Scripture was fulfilled that night. Psalm-148-5- 'let everything he has made give praise to him'
When the power of the Holy Spirit eventually lifted, everyone began to come around and was in awe of what had happened to them. They did not hear the little kettle and his friends give praise, but they heard a heavenly sound as they rested on the floor, only kettle and his friends knew the Spirit of God had touched them also. People were weeping silently friends were huggingfriendsandsomehuggingnewfriends.Oldandyoung were holding each other in a loving embrace as the love of God saturated the air. Peace flooded everyone’s heart, there was such immense happiness no one wanted to move and spoil anything. They sat like this for over an hour just soaking in the love of God and the love of each other. Then suddenly everyone arose together and the music ministry felt compelled to sing, ‘He is worthy of honour’ Such praise filled the room it felt like the roof was going to lift. Declan Clarke’s voice boomed throughout the room, ‘He is worthy of honour worthy of glory worthy of praise is he’
The singing was just awesome. Ray and Richard and Kathy matching Declan’s exuberant singing had hands raised in the
air singing at the top of their voices giving their God glory for all he is and does. The praise and singing went on for another hour long past the usual finishing time as no one wanted to leave the meeting and no one wanted it to stop. But eventually Rosa O’Donnell had to call an end to the meeting as it was getting late.
During the tea the little healing kettle noticed the young man with the bright orange and green hair make his way over to old John who was sitting just a little way from kettle. ‘Excuse me’ he said to John, ‘would you mind if I brought my guitar along next week, I want to serve God in the music ministry’ John was slightly taken aback by his appearance and by his youth and by his request. Then the little kettle noticed John cock his head to the one side like he was listening to someone else speaking to him just as the young man spoke. John reached out his hand and said, ‘we would be delighted to have you, could you be here an hour before everyone else so we can tune up and pray together before the meeting’
‘Yep sure can buddy, the young man replied. ‘Cool’ Then went back to join his friends.
‘What was that about John? Frank asked, as he sat down handing John a cup of tea. ‘That young man wants to join us and I was about to put him off when the Lord said to me, welcome him in my name’
Chapter 5
Joe joins the music ministry
Next week an hour before the meeting young orange and green hair arrived together with frank, they had met just outside the door. Entering the hall John greeted them, ‘welcome lads, praise the lord’ ‘Hi guys’ called Barney who was tuning up to Johns piano. ‘Did you not bring your guitar with you son? John asked the young man, who replied. ‘my name is Joe, and ill bring my guitar and things in now and turned and went outside again. His guitar and things? They spoke at the same time puzzled by Joe’s answer. A moment later Joe arrived in carrying with him a guitar and an amplifier, and a long box. It will only take me a moment to plug this in, he said, and went looking for a power point close to where the music ministry sat. Ok that is me. he called and turned his amplifier on. Can I tune up with you Barney? he asked. Sure answered Barney, that is a nice bass guitar you have there is it a Gibson?
Yes sir it is replied Joe it was my dad’s he used to be in a band called the Woodchoppers. What was his name? asked Barney. Willy Bradley, Joe replied. I used to play with the Woodchoppers years ago, said Barney; there was Pat Mc Crossings Willie Lindsey, Shamus Liddy. And Ollie Logue the drummer, he was the best drummer in Ireland, and the boss himself, Willy Bradley. A great trumpet player and bass player. My God it is a small world, tell your dad I said hullo. Will do mate, replied Joe as he began playing his bass. What
is in the other box? asked John. I hope you do not mind me asking.
Oh its my electric organ, I was not sure you would want me to bring this along as you play the piano and I did not wish to clash with you some people can be funny man, you know what I mean.
Plug it in, smiled John, there is no competition here, we are here to glorify the lord and not to compete with one another, the more music we have at our disposal the more we can use it to glorify the King of Kings.
Lets start off with a prayer, said John, kneeling down head bowed.
They knelt down together. Lord we bring this wonderful array of musical instruments before you and we ask that each instrument will blend together to bring glory and praise and worship to your wonderful name. Tell us when to use each instrument so that they complement each other and so that they bring peace and healing to your people, amen. And they all replied, amen. Lets try out a few hymns so we can balance the sound. Striking up with the hymn. Blessed be the name of the Lord. They practiced a few hymns some quick hymns and some slow hymns. Young Joe switched from his bass guitar to the organ for some of the slower hymns and it blended in beautifully with the piano and violin and flute.
The little kettle sat at the back watching everything his spout opened wide with surprise. They sound like one of those professional bands, the ones who are on the radio, only better. Whispered the little milk jug.
Brilliant just brilliant.
That night the lord moved among the people even more powerful and touched many hearts.
Chapter 7
A new beginning
I believe that the lord wants us to do something for him,' Rosa O'Donnell told the leaders of the prayer group. Let us pray and see what he desires. Bowing their heads they began to seek the lord sincerely, some lay prostrate before him, praying earnestly. After a while they became silent listening to what the lord was saying to them, and they wrote down the words the lord was telling them.
Everyone shared that the message they were receiving from the lord was that he wanted them to hold a healing service in the local town hall, which held over three thousand people seated, and he would be there in power as they preached and sang and ministered to him. They were to have this meeting on Sunday the Seventh June, which were a few weeks away. They were to involve the members of the prayer group who were there for a long time and were tried tested and honourable, people who could be relied upon to follow the lords instructions.
They agreed to be obedient and were very excited at the prospect of this forthcoming event.
Over the next few weeks everyone in the prayer meeting prayed and sought the lord sincerely including the young people who threw themselves into their meeting with great gusto and enthusiasm. Many healing and deliverance’s took place over these weeks and many more people came to the meeting. The little kettle worked flat out never stopping boiling water for the tea; he loved every moment of it, delighted to serve his lord and God.
Soon the day of the healing service arrived and everyone from the prayer meeting was gathered in the town hall preparing things for thepeoplewho would come. Theyoung peoplewere a tremendous help lifting tables brushing floors helping sort the heavy work out, and the older folk made little nametags for the people who would come, and made sandwiches for the tea after the healing service was over. The nametags were important because it was so much nicer if people could see your name and it makes everything friendlier if you were called by your name especially when getting prayed with.
The little healing kettle was glad that he was placed right with the music ministry, at the front of the stage. He was to be their supply of tea during the healing service and afterwards. Musicians like to drink tea when they have a little break it helps keep their throat moist and helps them sing better. The little healing kettle was also glad to be at the front and seated high up on the stage because he would get a good view of what was happening.
Because there was such a huge crowd of people expected the leaders had borrowed tea churns, large boilers that held many gallons of water, they could not do with just the little kettle, and the little kettle did not mind anyway, he was glad to be where he was.
After prayer the music ministry said lets have a little cup of tea to lubricate our throats, and Barney plugged the little healing kettle into the wall socket saying to him. You have your work cut out for you this day little fellow we will need plenty of tea today, just keep yourself on the boil. The little healing kettle was very pleased to be needed.
After their tea the music ministry began to tune up and soon they were practicing a few new songs that Frank had composed. These are great songs thought the little kettle, they have a great beat and he was dancing about spilling little drops of water everywhere. The music ministry had really blended well together, young Joe and old John sang their hearts out and played with great joy, age was no barrier between them and they got on like a house on fire. They had become great friends, and a lot of the young people had also made friends with the older members of the prayer group. Ok folks its time lets all seek the lord for what he wants us to do first, everyone keep listening to what the lord is saying to you throughout the day and come share that with us at the little breaks and we will see where he is leading next.
Even though they had a program already worked out they would not stick ridged to this because they knew from experience that God’s Spirit could move them in different ways as the day unfolds. After the prayer they each went to their respective places and
prepared to greet the people as they came in.
Rosa opened the doors to let everyone in and my goodness what a huge crowd had already been gathered outside, there must have been over 2000 already there. Men, women, young people and children greeted them as they made their way inside and took their seat. There was already an air of excitement as the people having heard of all the healing and miracles that had taken place at the prayer meeting were gathered early to make sure they got a seat. There was still another hour and a half before the service would begin, and the lord instructed John to begin playing some quick lively songs, not songs that everyone expected but songs that had a flavour of country and western, some sing a long songs, Songs that had people laughing at their funny lyrics and songs that had them shed a little tear of a love story that ended tragically. The people gathered were amazed they thought they would have old style hymns and religiousand boring stuffduring theday. Mostofthem had never been to a prayer meeting and almost all had never been to a healing service.
Therewereagreat mixtureof sinners and saints in thehall, and these songs set everyone at ease, and had them on their feet clapping and dancing and laughing. Many had not danced in years and arthritis had set into their bones and depression through loneliness filled many a heart and mind. But all was forgotten in the laughter and fun.
Right John! It is time to begin praising, but first ask the people, how many of them have already been healed from arthritis, back trouble and stiffness in their joints. Ask how many have been lifted out of depression and have found a new joy in their hearts?
Brothers and sisters could we have a few minutes silence
please? Asked John. The lord has spoken to me and told me to ask something. How many of you have suddenly discovered that you are no longer in pain from your arthritis? Check your body out now and see if your pain has gone from your back, your legs your arms, or neck?
He continued. Move your arms and legs about, move your necks and lift your arms up and down, check and see what the lordhasalreadydoneforyouandthemeetinghasnotyetbegun.
3500 People turned and twisted their bodies checking to see where their pain had gone, some even started bending over touching the ground others lifted their hands in the air checking out painful arms. And heads were turning every which way. People were calling out, my pain its gone my arthritis has been healed, look! I can stand or look I can lift my arms. There was such excitement in the hall.
John asked them all to sit and could they please lift their right hand, all who had been healed of arthritis and painful joints. Almost everyone in the hall had been healed from some joint pain, and they raised their right hand up high in the air.
John then asked the people who had come in with depression could they raise their right hand high. Lots of people that suffered from depression raised their hand high. How many of you now can truthfully say, he asked, that they know their depression has lifted and that they have a new sense of joy and happiness in their hearts. If not you can lower your hand.
To a man all those with raised hands kept them raised. And everyone praised God for his mercy endures forever.
John spoke in loving terms of the love that God had for them and that he wished for no one to suffer from sickness or pain,
it was not his perfect will for his people to suffer sickness and that he had sent his son Jesus to take their sickness and pain on to his own body on Calvary where he died for everyone’s sins. Today God was going to give them salvation from their sins and also going to heal them, baptise them in his spirit and give them supernatural gifts to help them live a life pleasing to him and to help others less fortunate than themselves. Today God was going to work miracles for those with no human means of help, and hispeoplewould witnessand experiencethesethings for themselves.
Right brothers and sisters let us all stand on our feet and sing our hearts out to God with songs of praise, thanksgiving and worship, and he instructed the music ministry to begin with. How great is our God. The music ministry were anointed of God as they played song after song intermixed with shouts of praise and worship, and the people joined in wholeheartedly having already been enjoying the music before and not feeling out of place with what they were doing now. God had prepared them with the sing a long songs.
Then the music ministry led the people into quieter hymns and soon a reverent silence descended on the hall as the Spirit of God moved among the people. The music ministry played and ministered in gentle healing songs, like, Lay your burdens down, and, He is here.
Softly, gently and with great feeling Frank, Joe, Barney and John sang from the depths of their hearts, ministering to the lord and to the people. People everywhere were crying as the lord released them from burdens they had. Guilt that they carried for years was removed from their hearts. Sins that
separated them from the lord were forgiven. Tears flowed like a river; the Spirit of God at whatever their need was touched them. The grace of God moved through the people leaving no one out everyone was touched in some way.
Thelittlehealingkettlewascryingsomuchhiswaterlevelwas going down, he was in awe of God. John ended the first session, saying quietly. Amen, brothers and sisters. Lets take a little break for some tea and refreshments. The lord has not finished with us yet, there is still more to come.
Reluctantly people made their way to the area reserved for tea, most hardly saying a word they were so moved by their experience.
The anointing falls on everyone.
Raymond Blaney took the lead for the next service and he welcomed everyone back. Lets begin with a prayer. Now take it from me, Ray could sure pray up a storm and he soon had everyone sitting in expectation of what the lord was wanting
to do for them. He talked on the need of repentance and the need to turn away from sin and how anyone not already saved needed the saving grace of the lord. Heaven is not earned he made them aware but it is a gift freely given by a loving Father God. This salvation is given to all who sincerely desire it. He called on the people present to examine their hearts, did they truly wish to receive Jesus into their hearts as lord and savior, did they truly want to live for him and in his power, then if that was the case would those who have never asked Jesus into their hearts before but would like to accept Jesus as lord into their hearts now then stand up, be bold for the lord stand up quickly.
Approximately 3000 people got to their feet not needing encouragement they even lifted their hands in the air calling on God to save them. Many were weeping profusely repenting openly of their sins and all 3000 plus accepted Jesus into their hearts and were saved.
Thelittlehealing kettlewaswatching allthishismouth opened wide in awe, his heart was filled with love for these people and hewished hecould givethemallaspecialcup oftea, they were so precious.
Ray then gave a talk on the baptism in the Spirit telling everyone they needed God’s power to live power filled lives and this was the Holy Spirit who would come to them and live within them forever and he would fill them with his supernatural power and gifts and he explained in great detail how much they and he needed the Holy Spirits help. Now all they needed to do to receive this Gift of the Holy Spirit was to stand up take each other’s hands and he would pray that the Holy Spirit would fill them like he did at Pentecost for the apostles. Those who desired this gift just needed to say, Lord fill me with your
spirit now.
No sooner than the words were out of his mouth when there was a great sound like a terrific wind blowing through the hall and all 3000 people fell backwards onto the floor sending chairs everywhere, yet not one was hurt nor did they even get their clothes dirty.
3000 people all began praying in tongues it began like a little breeze then began to grow in strength until it became like a hurricane blowing. God’s heavenly language poured out of his people and everyone was talking in the power of the Holy Spirit. This continued for about an hour, then as suddenly as it began everyone stopped praying at once as if commanded to. Settling back down into theirchairsthepeoplewerecrying and praising God telling him they loved him with all their hearts. Ray handed the meeting over to Richard who shared with the people his own personal testimony, and how God got him through his own personal tragedy.
Richard said he believed that the lord was healing people from all kinds of diseases, and he was telling him he was healing cancer, and that those receiving healing would at this moment feel like there was water running down inside them, and would those people who felt this please stand up. About 60 people got to their feet saying they could feel this warm water running down inside them. Richard asked them to come to the front of the stage and share what they felt happening to them. The first to come up on stage was an elderly lady who told the people she had a large cancerous lump on he leg and look it has disappeared, and she held her leg up for all to see. Then one after the other came forward and either showed where there had been cancer or told that when they felt for the lump it was now gone. One man was wheeled to the stage in his wheelchair said look
I lost both of my legs to cancer from the knees down, look at what is happening to me.
He pulled the legs of his trousers up and to everyone’s astonishment there was two new legs formed and as people stretched forward to look new feet were forming. The crowd went wild with praise glorifying God at the top of their voices, and the more they praised the quicker the toes and feet grew until they were perfectly formed legs and feet. The man got to his feet and began to walk about giving thanks as he did so. He began walking then leaping all the time praising God.
He approached the microphone and said. What am I going to do now? I have no shoes. And he threw his head back and laughed and laughed wiggling his new toes. I do not want shoes he added, sure Id never see my new toes if I had them. During the evening God worked miracle upon miracle for his children much too numerous to put in this story.
Declan Clarke put the finishing touches to the service when he sang a song dedicated to his lord and savior.
Because he lives I can face tomorrow. He boomed out the song and he was not even anywhere near a microphone but everyone heard him anyway. Declan did not need a Microphone to be heard.
He finished off the service with the Lord’s Prayer, and everyone said. Amen. Then the people made their way home happy and at peace with the world.
A tired but happy group make their way home.
Put the kettle on, said Kathy I’M parched, my throat is like sandpaper and I need a wee cup of tea.
The little kettle was soon boiling away happy and contented at having witnessed the greatest miracles he had ever seen.
Rosa told the group that she was so proud of them they had served the lord really well and the people were singing their praises, and that God was proud of them too. She exhorted the music ministry saying, they really needed a special word of praise as they performed wonderfully, their musicwassouplifting, andsoinspiringtoall.Youwouldthink they were together for years, she added. And the blend of old and young was terrific, just the way God wanted things to be, they are an example of how prayer meetings should be, a mixture of old and young. Old style and new style, she nodded at Joe’s hairdo and smiled.
Well folks that is all for now, she said, lets join hands for a safe journey home and to thank the lord for all he done.
After prayer as she prepared to switch off the lights in the hall Rosa lifted the little healing kettle and said, tonight little fellow I’M taking you home with me, I know you understand me the lord has told me so. A delighted little healing kettle was soon settled down for the night in Rosa’s home after they had a cup of tea of course. Rosa and the little healing kettle chatted for hours. He was especially glad, he told her, to have met the music ministry. But this was his and her secret and no one should be told that the little healing kettle could talk.
The End
