BMAPS FAQ What is BMAPS? BMAPS is Book Fair Management and Processing System, Bookworm’s POS manager for book fairs. What hardware do I need for BMAPS? It can be run on any Windows or Mac computers. One only needs an internet connection and system connected printer (for printing of credit card receipts). Do I need a Cash Register? No, the POS manager turns your computer into an efficient Point of Sale machine that collects sales information and updates the inventory during book fair sale. What kind of internet connection do I need? Bookworm POS manger works best with a persistent internet connection. Examples of persistent connections include DSL, Cable, ISDN, VSAT (Satellite) and FIOS. How does BMAPS handle inventory? Bookworm POS Manger will report to you what was sold, for how much, to whom (if you track customers), adjust the inventory and update return information. How many POS stations can BMAPS run simultaneously? Bookworm POS manager can operate as many POS stations as your bookfair needs. By default, we will provide you 2 logins. Please contact us if you need more usernames. What happens if the internet goes down? Do I lose my POS system? Yes, if the internet goes down you can’t work on POS because it is cloud-based system. You must use the imprint machine to run the credit card transactions.


I have a lot of volunteers and elderly helpers that work at my book fair. Isn’t it too complicated to teach them how to use BMAPS? Learning the basics of a Bookworm POS manager system is just as easy as learning to use a cash register. Typically, it takes less than 20 minutes for any new volunteers to get going. All screens are intuitive and user-friendly. Is a live demo of a BMAPS available to teach my volunteers? Yes, here is a link to the Bookworm Cloud POS website. Usernames and passwords for a demo school are below. How do I install my USB barcode scanner and credit swiper? When you plug in your barcode scanner and swiper to your computer (Windows, Mac,) the computer will recognize the scanner. Once the computer has detected the device, you may scan barcode and swipe the credit card. Can I restock during our book fair with BMAPS? Bookworm POS manager adjusts the quantity on hand during the bookfair. Restock can be done when the quantity falls below for hot selling titles. How many restocks request can I send daily and what is the cut off time? Send only one restock order daily before 2:00PM. For more details, please contact our restock team. Is the Bookworm restocking team tracking restock requests in the warehouse? We do not track restocks.


How can I know my restock request is uploaded into inventory? The book fair coordinator will get an email with a link to upload the restock into inventory. If you are unable to access the email in your school system log out and login back in – you will see a reminder to upload the restock into inventory. Can I upload my preview box into our inventory during the book fair? Under “Sales” click on the “Upload Preview Box” button to upload the preview box at any time. Is scanning of incoming and outgoing inventory possible with BMAPS? Yes, scanning of incoming/outgoing is possible. You may call 703-367-0045 and speak to one of our POS experts about your specific needs. Can we give discounts to teachers through BMAPS? How much? Yes, you may. The percentage is up to school as it comes from school proceeds.
