INTRODUCTION Interfaith Youth Soccer Camp Interfaith Soccer Camp, as specified in the Embassy’s document S-CB60010-CA-020, is to “Bring together Cambodian youth from the three major faiths in Cambodia – Buddhist, Christian, and Muslim – in a fun environment combining sport with learning to teach soccer skills, religious tolerance and shared values, and leadership skills so that participants can return to their communities and be young leaders espousing the benefits of interfaith cooperation, understanding, and acceptance.”

SPIRIT OF SOCCER

Spirit of Soccer (SoS) is a non-profit children’s charity organization founded in 1996. It is dedicated to administering Mine Risk Education (MRE) to youth in Cambodia and other countries at risk of landmines, unexploded ordinances (UXOs) and Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) through its soccer clinics. To date, SoS has reached over 100,000 children in Cambodia, other at risk Bosnia, Herzogovina, Iraq, Kosovo, Moldova and gh its throu tion countries. On top of mine awareness educa ipants partic es soccer clinics, SoS also promotes, peace, teach tion, resolu about team work, ethnic tolerance, conflict a more youth development and other topics that lead to the has SoS peaceful and tolerant world. SANTI SENA Santi Sena is a local non-profit, non-government and non-political faith-based (Buddhist) organization (FBO) founded in 1994 in southern Cambodia in Svay Rieng province. It works to addressed issues that affect vulnerable and marginalized people by implementing programs and activities towards alleviating poverty and social violence; teaching human rights, democracy and social law; empowering women; and conservation of natural resources. Santi Sena works with adults and youth of Buddhist and non-Buddhist faiths. Among its diverse programs, the organization has or is currently implementing a program that promotes and raises awareness of human rights through campaigns and community education on human and child trafficking, domestic violence, sexual abuse and labor exploitation. Through the nature of its activities, Santi Sena has involved the participation of key stakeholders such as the district governor, Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of Women’s Affairs, police and commune council members. As according to the U.S. Embassy, Santi Sena has “unique experience in interacting and making contacts with the three major faiths in Cambodia, organizing interfaith dialogues, discussion religious tolerance, and working with young people. Santi Sena has used interfaith dialogue as a mediation tool at the community level, and is a local affiliate of United Religions Initiative (URI), which is a global umbrella NGO organizing local grassroots interfaith communities around the globe to transform religious tension into positive social change.�

camp guidelines what you must do • Participants must respect the given time marked in you r handbook. • You must wear your campin g pass during the whole cam ping. • You have to check the bul letin board before you go to bed . • In case you are feeling sick , you have to immediately rep ort to Admin or your chaperon. • Camp-site youths must resp ect the public peace and quiet. WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED • Participants are not allowed to use the meeting room wit hout permission from Admin. • From 21.00pm to 05.30am and 12.00pm to 13.00pm the silence has to be respected. • Smoking is not allowed in the camp site. • The use of radios and TV, musical instruments, speakin g and singing is not allowed if in some way this causes a disturbance on the camp-site. SAFEGUARDING OF PERSONAL BELONGINGS AND RESPONSIBI LITIES • The camp site participant s are responsible for safegua rdin g his property and belonging whilst in the camp-site. • The camp-site management is not responsible for any loss or damage to belongings in the property of its camp-site guests. ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION AND CLEANLINESS WITHIN THE CAMP-SITE • Camp-site participants mu st keep their pitches clean and tidy. • They are obliged to preserv e the plants and the green veg etation in the camp-site. • It is forbidden to cut dow n trees or to damage them (ha mmer the nails) or cut branches away. IMPORTANT NOTE: Participant s are kindly requested to obs erve the Campsite regulations. Any you ths who seriously break these rules may be asked to leave the Campsite.
