RIDING AT NIGHT
CARS WAITING TO PULL OUT
Riding along a wide arterial street, with an uninterrupted view of traffic ahead of you, you observe a minivan waiting to pull out of a shopping center parking lot. You make eye contact with the driver, and visually confirm that the vehicle is not moving. But just as you are about to pass the shopping center exit, the driver accelerates into your path. Strategy: Though we tend to focus our attention at intersections in an urban environment, there are also potential danger zones between intersections, as this example illustrates. These are situations where the small profile of a motorcycle can be problematic. Drivers waiting to pull out may not even see you approaching in the busy traffic environment. Even if they do “see” you, they may fail to accurately judge your closing speed, as occurred in the above example. Eye contact in this situation can be misleading. Have an open area scoped out in case you need to take evasive action when approaching any vehicle that could pull out into your path. As you approach, check the vehicle’s front tire, which will provide your first indication that the car is starting to move. Any step that you can take to increase your visibility to other drivers (wearing a bright-colored helmet or jacket and using your highbeam during daytime) is especially helpful in situations like this. If it’s clear the other driver doesn’t see you, honk your horn! (Just be ready in case the driver doesn’t hear it.)

It began as a simple idea from business partners Gary Bang and Preston Farrior with very modest parameters: Build a bagger and mid-sized cruiser, using 90 percent Harley Davidson parts that would be cool enough for the VP and Prez of The Florida Harley Group to enjoy riding. Wow how a fun, little notion turned into a bold, huge event just five years later. The Florida Harley Group invites you to its Annual Bike Build Off March 2 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Brandon Harley Davidson, located at 9841 E. Adamo Dr., where it will unveil the latest quests for art, heart, power
and design during a search for the Baddest Bagger. The competition is between the five Florida Harley Group stores – Tampa, Brandon, New Port Richey, Panama City Beach, and Tallahassee Harley-Davidson. Each store was given approximately $13,000 to customize a bagger that six judges, including Bang, Farrior and some H-D execs, will evaluate using a point system. Bang said if the audience in attendance and online at Facebook Live are loud enough, they might be able to sway the judges with some points for their favorites as well. This year, a new twist was added to the competition – teams also had to build a cool
mid-sized cruiser within a $4,000 budget. “Times have changed,” Bang said. “Now the gloves are off. The theme is ‘Stuck in the 90s’ – custom made our way. A lot of people don’t want to do that anymore. We’re back doing custom work and it’s a great morale booster for teamwork and fun.” Popular stunt rider Cole Freeman, a.k.a. “Lil Krazy”, of Ill Conduct stunt team, shook down a few of the bikes in with some preevent rides to get them street ready. Since these bikes have either been pre-sold or will be for sale after the event – at prices that have topped more than $40,000 in the past – Born To Ride looks at all 10 bikes, with a

primary focus on the Bad Baggers, and what went into the custom fabrications and aftermarket add-ons: TAMPA H-D’S BAGGER: 2017 ROAD KING “RETRO” RAT ROD If you believe that rust is a way of life in the south, then the Tampa Harley-Davidson patina entry with aged paint flair is for you. The one-of-a-kind paint job from Eric Warren Artistry has been custom powder coated with a satin clear coat by Pro Coat Performance Coating. Service manager, Ryan Logrien, said the 2017 Road King retro hot rod build was BTR 34 | BORNTORIDE.COM
inspired by an old, lowered truck they spotted on Instagram. “It’s a sick lil bike,” Logrien said. It turned out real nice.” Other features include custom fenders and saddlebags, an old-school 21-inch front twisted spoke wheel and 16-inch rear twisted spoke wheel, Samson fish tail true dual exhaust system, front and rear lowering kits, touring seat, in-house custom clutch and brake levers, flamethrower kit from exhaust system and of course the obvious 16-inch fat ape hanger handlebars with chocolate brown Bitwell grips. For its cruiser entry, team Tampa went with
a Dyna S 110 with green accents in effort to make their bike look cool, fast and hot roddy. “Our goal number one is to put out a premium product, do it in house and do it in the time frame,” Logrien said. “We took each bike down to their frames and rebuilt them in 31 days. I think it turned out great.” TAMPA’S SMACK TALK: Logrien proudly points out that Tampa was the only shop to have both bikes done in time to meet the original soft deadline for completion (January 31) – and they didn’t start until right after the new year.

BRANDON H-D’S BAGGER: ONE BIG, PHAT, RED ROD Marketing Director Josh Maloney called Harley’s decision to build a contest around a bagger build a “no brainer” because HarleyDavidson baggers are some of the most popular bikes in the world. That said, the Brandon team wanted to bring a new-look to baggers in Florida, so it erected Big Red, a sleek bike with a Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine. The 2017 Velocity Red Street Glide is a solid effort to bring a big, tough and mean looking bagger to the local streets that isn’t seen around town every day. The 180mm front
fat tire and the stretch bag offer signature sightlines for your eyes to travel, while your mind wanders elsewhere. “I am very impressed with the due diligence some of the builders did,” Maloney said. “They are bad ass bikes and they are the star of the show.” Team Brandon also built a sleek, black Dyna Street Bob as its cruiser entry. They made the performance more ridable while tweaking the suspension and handle bars a bit. BRANDON’S SMACK TALK: Brandon GM Brett O’Connor and his build team have affectionately nicknamed their
2017 Velocity Red Street Glide “One Phat Bitch!” NEW PORT RICHEY H-D’S BAGGER: THE DESTROYER Service Manager Don McCadden knows you will immediately either love or hate the gray color. Either way, this bagger was inspired from social media images and built using all Harley-Davidson parts to mirror the strength and power of a Naval destroyer with a nod to the new Milwaukee-Eight 114 Stage III engine kit. “The bagger market is going toward the big front wheel, air ride, super charger oriented,”

McCadden said. “We wanted to get back to the roots of performance-oriented, purpose build.” The bike features 3-way front and rear suspension so you can dial in to how you ride and your riding style along with front forks tied to performance. Team New Port Richey, which has a victory and a second-place finish to its credit in this event, went with all after-market parts for its 2017 Soft Tail Heritage cruiser build. They wanted a West Coast, California dreaming, Chula style, theme so they stripped the heritage off (no bags, no windshield, etc.) and added 21-inch spoke wheels, fishtail

exhaust and ape hangers. “The key to winning is getting people excited about what you’re doing,” McCadden said. “This helps showcase what we can do as a service department.” NEW PORT RICHEY’S SMACK TALK: McCadden wants you to know their bike is a Naval destroyer for a reason (and it’s not just because that’s the name of the paint color). “It destroys the competition!” he said. PANAMA CITY BEACH HD’S BAGGER: WEST COAST FXRT When service manager Scott Korol and his
build crew started mockups in December, he wanted to bring his dream Harley bagger to life. This is his third entry into the competition and he helped lead his team to victory last year with a Road King, so he knows the secret to success. “Time and attention to detail,” Korol said. “It’s all about the bagger. The baddest of the bad.” Team PCB is bringing a MilwaukeeEight FXRT which is popular on the West Coast. “I myself am a fan,” Korol said. “With the new motor, it runs smoother and is more powerful. It’s what I would want (Harley) to
If you have an interseting story, product, destination ride location or event let us know. 888-795-5779
make.” The crew started with a Road Glide base and threw away a lot. Korol likes the boom audio system and the wide rear tire that lets the rubber grab the road. For the cruiser build, most entries in this competition are either Dyna low hot rods or low rider deluxe Heritage bikes – which is what they are doing. So look for the ape hangers, fish tail pipes and big spoke wheels. PANAMA CITY BEACH’S SMACK TALK: Being the proud, defending champions of this competition speaks for itself.
TALLAHASSEE HD’S BAGGER: MILITARY MILITIA A touch of patriotism is something anybody can roll with, so don’t be afraid of this old Road King built around military pride. In fact, you can invite a friend to ride along because this bike is complete with gun and side car. GM Tate McNutt said his Tally team worked three weeks straight of regular work followed by overtime to balance the regular days’ workloads with this extracurricular challenge. The result is a bagger that mimic’s an oldschool flavor without using any bolt on parts – it’s all custom fabrication.
“It’s something you can’t see in magazines or online,” McNutt said. For the cruiser, the crew from the state capital went with an old Dyna orange and checkered flat track racer flavor. TALLAHASSEE’S SMACK TALK: “We are going to win hands down,” said GM Tate McNutt. Period. Exclamation point!

the original bad boy of country music Craven: We are at the Born To Ride Day of the Dead Jam and I’m sitting out here with my friend David Allan Coe. Ladies and Gentlemen, the world famous David Allan Coe! Millions and millions of hits, how are you doing today, pal? David Allan Coe: Well, I’m doing okay considering everything. I’m doing good. The rain bothers me a bit. CM: Me too. I’m losing my voice. David: Yeah, me too. CM: Well David, I didn’t want to get into great details about it, but we were looking at a picture of that accident you were involved in. That was pretty damned bad, David. You’re a lucky man and blessed to be here! DAC: Yeah, it was a very bad wreck and on top of it being a bad wreck it was all over the news that I had died. So people were calling my wife asking, “Is he dead?” So she said, “No, he’s not dead.” CM: Well, a lot of people have rumored everyone’s death at one time. Maybe you’re more famous when you’re gone than when you’re actually here. But I want to ask you something; can you remember how many hits you’ve recorded? I know you’ve recorded
hundreds and hundreds of songs. You’ve had so many chart-topping hits! You’re a country music icon. I mean literally. Give me a little history on that. DAC: Well, as a song writer, I’ve had over 200 songs that I’ve written that were on the charts. As an artist, I’ve had 86 number one records in this country and abroad. I’ve written over 10,000 songs and still writing every day and still recording. CM: That leads into my next question; you’re continuing on with your career. A great mind that comes up with great music like that you got to keep on going. We’re going to see another album, right? DAC: We’ve already recorded an album, “Just As I Am.” These are songs that I wrote after the accident. My wife and I recorded this with the current line-up of the band in Florida. So it’s a kind of Florida Country music type of thing. It’s a lot of good time songs. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to do any of them today because my wife never made it to the stage. She was dealing with some issues so I had to change my whole show. I sing half the show with my wife singing along with me. It was kind of a test but we got through it.
Don’t Miss David Allan Coe Live in Concert at Angel City Motorcycle Rally
CM: You guys sounded great! When we were talking about some of those things we talked about, “Johnny Cash helped me get out of prison.” That’s actually one of the lines that the viewers would like to know about. DAC: John came to the prison I was in to do a show. I paid a trustee five cartons of cigarettes to take some of my songs and give them to Johnny Cash. Johnny Cash wrote a letter to the parole board in the state of Ohio asking them to commute my sentence from Death Row to Life in prison. He thought I was the greatest living songwriter in the world. So five years later they commuted my sentence from Death Row to Life in prison. They sent me to the Marion Correctional Institution in Marion, Ohio. After two years, I was released on parole and allowed to go to Nashville to pursue my career as a songwriter and a singer. Ten years later, with the help of all my friends in Nashville, the governor of the state of Ohio restored my rights as an American citizen. CM: That’s an amazing story and an amazing journey for you. You’ve gone a long, long way! Once again, ladies and gentlemen, this guy is a legend!

the original bad boy of country music David Allan Coe! The real David Allan Coe! The stories that you sing about in your songs are mostly true stories. I know that! Do you have a favorite song, David? DAC: Oh geeze! Probably the next one that I write will be my favorite! CM: That’s what I’m talking about! DAC: Songs are like children; you love them all for different reasons. Ron Galletti: David, it’s great to have you here at the Day of the Dead. What do you think about this gig, man? DAC: I usually don’t go on this early in the day. So I still haven’t caught up with myself. I was up gambling most of the night (chuckles). The next thing I know, my wife is saying, “You’re going up on stage in 15 minutes, boy!” She’s a whip cracker. CM: Maybe we can get you back up later! Let’s go get a couple beers and a shot of Jack and get you to do a couple of songs. That’s what I’m saying! Yeah, it’s tough coming on in the daytime as a musician. I can understand that. But we are really glad that you are here. I know you’re a biker and our show is all about bikers. Tell us about your motorcycles and all your experiences. DAC: I started the Outlaws Motorcycle Club which is a 1%er Motorcycle Club in the state of Tennessee 47 years ago. I’ve
been in the Outlaws Motorcycle Club for 47 years and am now retired from the Outlaws Motorcycle Club. I still see a lot of my Brothers. I’m not full-fledged into it anymore, but I’m still around enough for them to know I’m existing. CM: That kind of tells the whole story we are talking about. You’ve been riding for 47 years, you’ve been writing songs for years. You’re an all-around bikers biker, man! DAC: I was the first man to ever be on the front cover of Easy Rider Magazine. Only women were on the cover of Easy Rider Magazine. 1984 David Allan Coe was on the cover of Easy Rider Magazine. CM: I think I have that issue. I work for Born To Ride Magazine. I’m not sure I can get you on the cover of that one! Anything more you’d like to say? DAC: I just want to thank everybody for sticking by my wife as she was taking care of me after the accident. She’s pretty much been on her own. She’s gotten a lot of help from people and I appreciate that very much. CM: I’m going to tell you something; all

our viewers around the world appreciate David Allan Coe! Thank you for taking the time to talk with us on Born To Ride television. We all appreciate it!

Above the Ton
Sport bikes are exhilarating to ride, for their cornering abilities, lean angle capability, readily available raw power, head-snapping acceleration and high speeds. None of which should ever be fully exploited on the street. Admittedly, I’ve gone a little faster than the law would allow with my Triumph 955 Sprint a few times, but I have never “hit the ton” (i.e. run over 100 mph) out on public roads. Those speeds are better (and legally) experienced at a track day. I’m not full blown “track rat,” riding track days every other weekend, with a dedicated track-prepped race bike, but over the past 4 years, I’ve tried to participate in at least one annually, and they are among my most exciting experiences. For my birthday in September, my family paid for me to spend a day with the great folks of N2 Track Days, running the famed Road Atlanta. This was my second opportunity to ride there, the previous being in 2013. I attended with several friends from my CMA Kneebenders riding group, and as always, made a few new friends across the day. Best of all, I safely ran my Triumph at speeds I’d never attained before, on two wheels or four. Following check-in and completing tech inspection on the bikes, we divided into our groups—Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced. Since I get to ride track so infrequently, I had opted to ride Novice. After morning meetings to go over track rules, we dismissed to suit up for the day. Each group took to the track for 20-minute sessions, and upon hitting the course, I remembered why I love Road Atlanta so much. Dramatic elevation changes, fast sweepers, tight corners, the famed “Esses” and three straights, the best being “the back straight” from turn 7 downhill to turns 10A and 10B, the straight being just shy of a mile in length. With a slight left at turn 8, then a small right lean at turn 9, all downhill, Road Atlanta boasts one of the most thrilling straights in American track racing. On a motorcycle, speeds well in excess of 100 mph are easily
achieved, at multiple points around this track. It’s an incredible course. A friend asked me, regarding those high speeds, “What’s it like to go that fast?” So I tried to capture the experience with words. “Exiting the top turn 7 from full lean, it’s getting the bike upright as quickly as possible, then hard on the throttle, clicking up through the gears, winding to redline in each. ‘Breaking the ton’ is fun, but the further and faster above 100 mph, the greater the rush. By the left-hand kink at turn 8, I’m already passing 125. Chin is on the tank, throttle is pinned wide open, and I’m wrapped around the bike, clinging for dear life. Approaching 135 mph, the windshield
is buffeting, the whole bike is shaking, and the roar of the big triple is screaming in my ears, either in protest or for more. The wind sounds like a tornado around my helmet as the scenery flies by in a blur at 202 feet per second. When the downhill run doglegs right at turn 9, a quick speedo glance shows I’m running 140 mph. The noise is deafening, the sensations are coursing through my entire body like an electric current. Suddenly it’s off the throttle, beginning to squeeze hard on the front binders, and downshifting as I enter the braking zone. Time to set up for 10A and 10B. The rest of the course is fantastic, but all I want to do is get back around to that long downhill stretch again.” Running at these speeds (and faster I’m sure) on a motorcycle is turbulent, is explosive, is violent. And I can’t get enough. I replay that day over and over in my mind, reliving every corner, curve, and straight. I eagerly anticipate the next time I’ll be able to spend a day riding my sport bike where it’s most at home—on the track. If you want to ride at furious high speeds, and push the limits of man and machine, do it in a prepped, controlled, legal environment. Trust me, you’ll be hooked, as I am. Rob

Craven Moorehead Another Month, Another Baseless Story
I was just sittin here in the trailer park watching Jerry Springer when I was reminded what time of the month it was. Oh crap … I didn’t turn in my column yet this month and yeah, it’s a short month. For some reason, I was dreaming that it was July but alas, it wasn’t. The thought of time, days and deadlines didn’t really cross my mind. I was simply relaxing here thinking about going to Daytona for Bike Week and other pleasant thoughts – or unobtainable dreams and not so much about obligations and tasks that really need to be done. It’s a slow and simple life out here in the country, and there is little motivation to get too excited about things that must get done in a certain amount of time. At this point in my life, I have little or no concept of time, either previously elapsed or remaining in the future. It’s one of those deals. As long as I wake up above ground I assume that there are endless possibilities. If I make it from the bed to the kitchen for coffee anything is possible and after a half a pot or so, I can consider functioning as a regular human being – whatever that is. Often, I wonder what a ‘normal’ life is. Most of us have jobs, ambitions and the enjoyment of reaping the rewards from our various occupations. That’s the thing that keeps most of us driving on, pushing forward and continuing to do chores that we don’t really like to do as a simple matter of survival. Fortunately, I enjoy writing and sometimes it allows me to be able to relate what’s going on in my life, at least it gives me a minute to see which way the road is going to turn – so to speak. None of us really know. This is a long road and the twists and turns often remind us that, even though we think we know where we are going, sometimes fate has a different idea and we can find ourselves on a back-road to nowhere in minutes. It’s okay people, just enjoy the scenery!
Once, I was involved in a motorcycle organization that often demanded that I be somewhere at a certain time. I remember that in this scenario, I couldn’t get there the day before to enjoy a bit of down time because believe it or not – I had a job! Again, this was years back when I was lucky enough to be employed so I had to do something that I would not normally do. No, I didn’t get on an airplane and ask for a ride to the event, I got up at 4 AM and met with some of the guys so we could be there to attend the gig and do our part to help the community and our group. It’s a beautiful thing to leave early on the bike and watch the sun come up on the horizon, hear the crisp sound of the pipes almost all in unison and feel the brotherhood of the road! I don’t know if there is a better feeling and at the end of the day, even if you are tired, you know in your heart that the journey was worth it! So is the good feeling we get as bikers really worth it? Of course it is. Even though we are often given a bad rap by the media or sometimes looked down upon by the local authorities, in the end it all seems to be worth it. I suspect that most of you would agree on this subject and yeah, it costs a few bucks to stay wide-open in the fast lane but we can all look back the good we have done as a loosely knitted community of people that all share the same passion! The freedom and benevolence of motorcycling and living on the road are much more important than the nay-sayers comments and opinions of our unique lifestyle. I don’t know about you, but I certainly wouldn’t change a thing! The experiences and journeys that we share out there on the highway are far more important than the opinions of the unknowing. If you want to denigrate the life that we lead, at least try it once and hey, if you don’t like it, simply move on. There is no need for negative commentary and foolish myths that have persisted for generations and beyond simply because we are different. Let’s just keep up the good work and keep helping our organizations and communities like we always do. It is our destiny after all. So now. Bike Week is upon us. You are likely reading this at the event, or perhaps before or after it, but either way simply be reminded that the people next to you are your brothers and sisters who came to enjoy the same scene that you did. Years ago, I wrote an entire article regarding this unique event. I can’t remember if it was titled ‘Come for Vacation and leave on Probation’ or whatever but keep this in mind – there are a lot of people out there who still don’t ‘get’ our lifestyle and some don’t like it too much. Unfortunately, certain factions of the local authorities aren’t big fans of this event and I can tell you that it isn’t a pretty scene in the Volusia County Jail. All I can do is attempt to implore the thought on all of you to do your absolute best to stay the heck out of trouble and don’t fall victim to the potholes and downfalls that can ruin a good time! We are all out here to have fun so let’s keep it at that and enjoy the event and the nuance that is the biker life! CRAVEN

Biker Movie Review
This month, it’s “Wild Hogs” starring Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence, and William H. Macy. The film was released in 2007, and as far as ‘biker exploitation films’ go, I suppose that definition probably doesn’t really fit. It is however ‘wildly’ entertaining if you are a comedy fanatic, or middle-aged gay basher. The story centers around four middle-aged businessmen who are bored with their regular suburban lives—embark on a road trip on their Harleys. Doug (Tim Allen) is a dentist; Bobby (Martin Lawrence) is a plumber; Woody (Travolta) is a bankrupt husband of a swimsuit model, who is divorcing him. Dudley (Macy) is a computer geek, who seeks the companionship of a woman (possibly his first experience) and constantly falls off his motorcycle in some very well performed stunt work. The action, the sets, and riding footage were quite good. The acting was dramatic at times, but continues to make the four look way too ‘Rubbie’ to be realistic. The overuse of gay references became redundant to a point, but overall it remained funny I guess. The road trip is filled with humorous moments, such as the four sleeping close together scantily clad, after burning their tent down and being discovered by a policeman who is overtly gay, and actually jealous of their situation. A little farther down the road, the four are skinnydipping in a pond when a traveling family joins them. The family discovers their state of undress while searching for crawdads, and later by the very same – very gay – and very naked policeman. The Hogs escape from the pond on their motorcycles, and during one of their frequent urination stops, they watch in awe as a large group of bikers pass by. This group was the Del Fuegos Motorcycle Club, and the Hogs meet them later down the road at their “Biker Bar” Clubhouse. This meeting goes bad of course, and Dudley ends up losing his motorcycle to “Jack” (Ray Liotta) who is the club’s president. The Hogs are ridiculed and sent down the road with
Dudley in tow in a sidecar attached to Woody’s motorcycle. Less than a mile down the road, Woody decides to walk back to the biker bar and retrieve Dudley’s bike. As the others wait beside the highway, Woody sneaks up, cuts the fuel lines on several of the club’s bikes, and takes off on Dudley’s bike. When Jack discovers the bike missing, the club fires up to give chase, but their pursuit is halted when Jack discards his cigarette into a puddle of gas, which causes their (clubhouse) building to explode and burn to the ground. Meanwhile Woody returns to the trio with Dudley’s bike and to their surprise spins a tale of threatening the club with legal action. The four Hogs ride by the bar waving and Woody gives them the finger just before the whole place blows up. Seeing the massive explosion in his rearview mirror, Woody refuses to stop – even for gas—and the Hogs end up pushing their motorcycles through the desert, where they end up in the small-town of Madrid. In Madrid, the Hogs have to stay the night to wait for the gas station to open. The Sheriff mistakes the four for Del Fuegos members. He tells them the club members terrorize the town frequently. He explains the small police force (who received weapons training by playing the video game Doom) is unable to do anything about them. Meanwhile Jack sends his members out in pairs to locate the Hogs. The Madrid chili festival is held that night and Dudley furthers his interest in Maggie (Marisa Tomei) who owns the local diner. As he courts her, Bobby comes across two Del Fuegos in town. Because of Woody’s previous explanation and believing that he is untouchable, Bobby humiliates the two bikers by squirting them with ketchup and mustard. Under orders from Jack, the two club members refuse to do anything and Bobby appears to win this battle. The town praises the Wild Hogs as saviors, considering them a friendly biker gang who can protect them. They are appreciative to the point that Dudley spends the night with Maggie. The next morning the Del Fuegos ride into town 50 strong. Jack yells to the townspeople that his gang will vandalize the town, starting with the diner, until the Wild Hogs come out to fight. Woody reveals his lie about the biker bar incident, and the Hogs hide inside Maggie’s house with the local Sheriff. As they peer out the window, Dudley walks out alone to face the gang, armed only with a tire iron. They tape him up and hang him from a tree like a piñata. Doug launches a plan to rescue him; and he is able to convince the other two to help. After the failed attempt, the Hogs decide to fight the club in front of the diner. The Fight is four-onfour with the Hogs taking repeated beatings. Refusing to quit, the Hogs get back up and challenge the club once more, but this time the entire town comes to back them up. Armed with axe handles, sticks and the like, Jack laughs and refers to them as the Children of the Corn. At this moment the Del Fuegos founder Damien Blade (Peter Fonda) arrives on the scene. Blade chastises Jack and the Del Fuegos for picking on four men and the townspeople, and reveals he actually thought his bar was a “S#!tHOLE” and explained that he insured the bar for twice what it was worth. Now we also learn that Jack is Damien’s son, and he points out to Jack how he forgot what being out on the open road is about and that it doesn’t involve thuggish behavior and violence. The gang soon departs, and the Hogs are again heroes. That is until the Doug and Bobby’s wives arrive in town! After a brief reconciliation, the Hogs venture out to their original destination, the Pacific Coast. Probably one of the best scenes in the movie occurs during the credits. There, the Del Fuegos get a new clubhouse courtesy of Ty Pennington and the Extreme Makeover Home Edition cast, and the emotions run high as they view their new clubhouse equipped with leather covered parking lot, and a bidet! Now that’s gay! I would give it 3 out of 5 stars for a good effort at wasting an hour and a half of my time.

Spyke & Mike
True Love
but you silly humans with your cameras act like you’ve never seen two biker birds in love before. The pushing and shoving became so bad that security had to come over and take charge of the situation before someone got hurt. They cordoned off the area for us as we continued our make out session. After about 5 minutes of Kodak moments most people were gone, except for the photobombers. Geez, like they don’t have enough pictures of themselves doing stupid shit to put on their Facebook page. We were eventually asked to move our party to the VIP area. I’m glad somebody finally recognized us as Very Important Parrots. It was there Fred told Mike the story about how we inspired them. He begins, “Many years ago, while seeing you and Spyke out in public and giving back to the community, we were amazed about your unique style and devotion at such affairs like a pediatric cancer—foster kids event where you can touch a child’s life for one day and make them forget about their illness or lack of parents and love. Then there were the many benefits and fundraisers you two would attend making that day extra special for everyone involved. But what put us over the edge was the time we got to participate in a Suncoast Brotherhood poker run with you and Spyke. You let her draw our cards, open our beers, and even ride on my shoulder between stops. By then it was our 5th-year anniversary and we still didn’t have any grandchildren, so we decided to purchase Oliver to Well chirp chirp and yeehaw my BTR friends. We followed you two Mike and I rode around Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Manatee County from afar, keeping Oliver in our own little group, training him and for weeks searching for that blue and yellow fellow tainted green I meeting other biker bird lovers. Someday someone should write a met down at Gibtown with no such luck. Then, we go to an event book about you two and all the wonderful, weird, and wacky things just 10 minutes from the sanctuary at Quaker Steak & Lube and look you’ve done.” who shows up. I break away from Oliver and cackle, “You know Mike, I do Since I was hanging on my usual perch, the right mirror of remember over the years seeing those three occasionally off in the the Fat Bird, Mike spotted him before I did. Prior to coming back crowd somewhere. I was way too young for love and just wanted and getting me, like any good parent would, Mike sat down with the fame and glory of hanging out with other celebrities, highthe owners and did a little Q & A about their background and the end friends, and musicians. I remember what Mike It was a great day together but as all great days go they must told me last month about taking it easy, but he just got my feathers end. Not before Fred asked Mike if we were going to Bike Week. going. I mean I was all fluffed, puffed, and ready for some action! He replied “yes, are you?” Fred answered, “We are and let’s ride We smooched for a little bit then he offered me some of his together so Spyke can have a companion, bodyguard, and someone food by the way of regurgitation. Ray V. Gordon is the owner and founder of a new business based in SW Florida called Leather Lid Inserts. He’s coined the phrase “We take the sag out of the bag” because that is exactly what they do. Ray has been riding motorcycles since he was 14-years-old and has watched the motorcycle industry grow and is glad to be a part of what it is today. After 35 years of owning and operating a successful aluminum company in Fort Myers, Ray sold the business so he could retire— he thought and bought himself a new Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic. And just like everyone else with leather saddlebags his bags started to sag and cave-in. He saw a need to fix this
problem. Ray says, “Starting this new business was something I just fell into by fixing my own saddlebags, and then friends of friends and others wanted me to fix their saddlebags too!” As an inventor and entrepreneur, Ray took his creative background and put his skills to work by experimenting with several different types of materials to finally come up with a patented lid and bag reinforcement kit that is designed to help keep the original shape of any leather saddlebag made on the market. So, if you’re tired of looking at your caved-in leather saddlebags, or if you have brand-new bags and want to prevent them from ever caving-in, please keep Leather Lid Inserts in mind. For all your leather saddlebag needs (insert kit, replacement belt straps, buckles, quick release) as a do-it-yourselfer or if you want them installed for you, visit www.LeatherLidInserts.com or call office 239-543-8360 to find the area dealer installer who is closest to you. Christian Motorcyclists Association He Will Send Showers of Blessings
My bike recently needed servicing so I hopped on and took it for a ride to the shop. The weather was turning south, but I figured I had plenty of time to get to the shop before the bottom fell out. I simply thought that a little wind would just keep the ride more comfortable temperature wise, as well as being more enjoyable. Normally, I wouldn’t pay much attention to the woods alongside of the road, but that day I was really aware of those little leaves that were missing as their absence made the trees along the road look barren, like being in a state of drought. The problem is that without those beautiful green leaves to both protect me and help dampen the impact from the wind, I found myself fighting some very strong wind gusts blowing me and the bike all over the lane in which I was traveling. A big blast of wind would hit and push the bike one way, then in an effort to correct the direction of travel, I would push the bike in the opposite way and end up over-correcting the direction of travel. It seemed like the harder I tried to keep the bike moving forward in a straight line the more it drifted all over the place. I was
reminded just how grateful I am for the showers of blessings that are so common in Florida, and for the protective help of the leaves that the rains usually provide. I was reminded that in the Bible, in Ezekiel 34:26 we are told “I will send showers of blessings in season; there shall be showers of blessings!” When we find ourselves walking, or riding, in a time of drought, and find ourselves being pushed all over the road of life, God is there. He knows what your season is, and exactly what you need, and He knows it even before you are aware of the need. He is waiting to hear you call for Him to touch your life with His grace and His peace. Best of all, He promises right here, that there will be showers of blessings in the right season. He is a God of perfect timing and He loves you and wants the best for you in everything. He is able to meet every need that you face, every time you are in the midst of a challenge. Remember that God promises to bless all who call upon Him and trust Him to calm their anxieties and take their cares. If you are hurting, feeling like life is tossing you all around, or just feeling like you are in a time of drought, God is there! He will hear you and bless you in great ways. Trust God, He’s got you in His hands, and He will never let you go. In The Wind, Denny Dingler
