LUCKY U CYCLES
A destination for bike sales, service and weekend fun.
hen Jeremy Coon opened Lucky U Cycles in Wildwood at the age of 23, he had already been in the motorcycle business for seven years. Making that bold transition was a way make a good living doing what he loved and it quickly paid off.
“At first, I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself in to,” he says. “we were just hoping to sell 5 to 15 bikes a month and make decent money, but after about three months, we knew we were going to sell way more than we projected.”
They now sell around 100 bikes a month and last year they sold 1285, staying on pace to do the same this year.
Jeremy believes that Lucky U’s success has been achieved through a combination of hard work, persistence, and a dedication to treating customers with respect and providing exceptional service. As a result, Lucky-U Cycles has become the top seller of preowned motorcycles in the entire state of Florida, which is a testament to their commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
After 16 years in their original location, Lucky U Cycles is moving just
one mile South to a brand-new, 15,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility that features a mix of an old-west saloon with modern industrial steel finishes.
The showroom boasts 8000 square feet to showcase 200+ bikes. Additionally, there is plenty of office space for staff and high-tech service bays for the mechanics.
The new lounge is also an exciting addition, and will give customers lots of room to relax while watching TV and utilizing the coffee station and vending machines.
While the crew and customers love the act of getting out on the open road, Jeremy admits that there is more to riding than climbing in the saddle and putting miles on the bike.
“I love the socialization of biking,” he says. “It brings people together and creates a strong bond. I’ve met some of the nicest people connecting with bikers whether it’s at an intersection, parking lot or even online.”
Which is why he has designed the new space with socializing in mind.
“I feel like our new place will have bigger and better events like bike shows, car shows, live music, food trucks, and fund-raisers,” he says.
1ST - 3RD LIVE MUSIC & FOOD TRUCKS
“With our new location, Lucky U Cycles aims to be more than just a bike shop-we plan to be a hub for the local community and bikers alike.”

Now the rest of the story... .sometimes on trips you have breakdowns. Several happen to the group on the way back. When Al’s CLUTCH ON HIS CVO WENT OUT I was surprised to learn that Harley has the Rekluse Auto Clutch. This feature allowed him to continue when clutch handle did nothing.
It’s designed to allow it to sit in 1st gear while waiting at traffic lights, stop signs in traffic jams..so you don’t need to squeeze the Clutch lever every time you move in traffic.
But it does allow for proper operation to shift without squeezing the Clutch lever, but you don’t rev Hard on the throttle, just ease on and it’ll smoothly engage and disengage when you ease on and ease off the throttle. Am I the only Harley rider that Did not now that?
And I’m sure Bill will never forget hitting a 7 inch spike that left him and Tim “flat” in Waldo ,KS
Waldo has a population of only 30 and it happen on a Friday night. Thats a story for next month.

Steve McQueen, the King of Cool made movies best remembered for their wild car chases, mad motorcycle dashes, and hair-raising races. No other Hollywood star has ever been so closely linked behind the wheel with cars and bikes like McQueen. McQueen’s Machines explores this connection, giving readers a close-up look at the cars and motorcycles he drove in movies, those he owned, and others he raced.
From the 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback he drove in Bullitt, from the Triumph
motorcycle of The Great Escape to the GulfPorsche 917K he actually raced in Le Mans, the cars and bikes that McQueen made famous in films make another appearance in the pages of this book. McQueen’s Machines also features the cars, motorcycles, and airplanes that Steve personally owned over the years, including two motorcycles that fetched record prices at a recent auction: a 1937 Crocker “Hemi-head” V-Twin and a 1920 Indian Powerplus Daytona.
This compilation is a wealth of detail about the star’s amateur racing career, his movie
stunt work, and his car and motorcycle collecting. All of this information draws a fascinating picture of one outsized man’s driving passion.
We sat down with Matt Stone, author of McQueen’s Machines and asked the writer what prompted him to compile this book. “I’m disappointed at who is considered a celebrity car guy these days,” said Stone. “A B-list TV star or an athlete that showcases their Suburban on a “reality” TV show because of its cool wheels and latest iPod jack is
just dumb PR. Guys like Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, and others were serious. McQueen owned cars that make a world class collection and he always had at least 200 motorcycles. He raced cars and bikes then built entire films around them. This was a part of his life and makeup. Even though he couldn’t race professionally because of his movie career, he was a legit, committed gearhead,” Stone continued.
“What made Steve McQueen someone that everybody wanted to be like?”
“He was the essence of cool—a man’s man
and a lady’s man,” said Stone. Far from perfect, he had his many moods, and a complex personality to say the least. But he was naturally handsome, athletic, and had mountains of ambition and style. There was nothing phony about him.”
There are more than twenty books on Steve McQueen in print that just nibble around the corners of his passion for cars, bikes, and racing, while this book exclusively focuses on that passion. And the photos are mindblowing, several of which have never been published before.

THE CONDITIONS WERE EXCELLENT FOR THE 2024 RIVER HIPPIE CHOPPER FEST IN RELIANCE, TN THIS PAST WEEKEND.
The Second Annual event drew riders from across the southeast for great camping, hold-my-beer gear banging burnouts, biker game shenanigans, a three-night super line up of local music and lots of baggers, adventure bikes, choppers and street rods.
Organizers, Sampson and Shirley Bell, were excited about this year’s attendance, “people are riding out to little Reliance for some great fun and biker camaraderie.... we’re on the map now.”

We the People remember, not We the Sheeple.
Welcome to another installment on Nefarious James’s rant from for America.
It’s now October and a lot of things coming up this month. Biketoberfest in Daytona, Halloween are just to name a couple. Even more important than those events we have a huge event coming up in November.
Election Day. We pick a new individual to take the seat of the President of these United States. Got a deep feeling this one is going to be hot. On one side we have an individual that’s hated so much by his opposing sides constituents that they have already tried to kill him twice. On the other side I’m still confused as to what that person stands for or even what’s being said whenever her mouth opens.
To start off let’s remind everyone that this is a Presidential race for the Oval Office. Not a popularity contest, not a gender race and not a color race. It should be an election for a person or ideal that will make this country stronger not weaker. One that brings forward the core elements that made this great country, well, great. If it wasn’t so great then why are people snaking over the borders in droves.
Touching on that, why would you allow people to come here if all they do is say things and do things in an attempt to undermine our republic and then reinforce that ignorant act by paying their way to achieve that? We aren’t talking pennies here. We’re talking to the tune of 150.7 Billion dollars and counting. That’s your money by the way. They haven’t contributed a cent. How many needy Americans do you think that could have helped?
With the election coming up, many of these illegal occupants are going to be casting votes for leadership of a country they aren’t even a legal citizen of. How can you even justify that? I think they called that padding the deck back in the day.
The only way to get this back on track is take out the methods used to manipulate the system. Show up to a poll and vote. No mail in crap that can easily be manipulated. Mandatory showing of an official identification card proving legal US citizenship. No ID, no vote. Insuring one vote per legal citizen.
Harsher laws for anyone trying to undermine or manipulate or voting system. Our part as American Citizens is to show up and vote. We the People remember, not We the Sheeple. Get informed. It’s the only way to find out the facts. If you’re happy with the high prices we live with, eating artificial lab made food and paying outrageous prices for everything then I really don’t know what to tell you. In this environment, the future looks bleak. Imagine what your children will have to look forward to. Oh wait, biological males can’t have babies and transgender men can’t either. That solves the population problem I guess. ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MINDS? Reality please. Hello, McFly? You in there?
Currently they want to take away your self identity, your freedom to choose, your freedom to arm yourself, your freedom to protect yourself, your freedom to speak freely and …. Well you get the idea. It seems everything now a-days is extreme one way or the other. We use to be a melting pot of peoples around the world looking for a better life and a chance to better the world. Now we are more like a holding cell at prison or waiting room for a psych ward. People pouring in from their place of origin only to get here and try to change the United States into the place they ran away from. How does that even make any sense?
This statement is for the “Legal American Citizen”. Get out there and vote during Election Day. Vote out the cancerous
politicians that are systematically destroying our country and making themselves fat off of the special interest groups that look to destroy us and keep us in this downward spiral. Get rid of fat cat lobbyists that bribe their agenda through weak representatives. Hold the greedy fat cats of our government that don’t have our countries best interest at heart accountable instead of giving them immunity for how they steal from us.
We have a document that helped frame this country at its inception. It’s called the constitution. I highly advise everyone reads it. If you don’t go out and vote or get off your ass to make the changes needed to fix our country instead of letting turn into the worlds toilet, then you are deserving of the result of your complacency. Just don’t take the rest of us with you.
I read this from an unknown author and it rings true. It stated” While you may think that “We the People” is about all Americans, there is much more to the phrase. “We the People” includes all the citizens of the United States of America. The importance of this phrase shows that it wasn’t just the framers of the Constitution or the legislators who were given powers to the government. Instead, the government gets all of its powers from the Citizens of the United States of America.”
“We the People” give the government its powers. Remember that.
VOTE your conscience, make decisions from facts not fantasy. You have to first open your eyes or forever live in the dark. Til next time. Live Free

Uniting the Biker Community: The Power of Personalization
Motorcycling is more than the freedom of the open road; it’s about connection, individuality, and shared experiences. Dave Letterfly, a passionate advocate for bikers and custom artwork, recently shared his insights at Harley-Davidson of Lynchburg, reminding us all of the deeper joys of motorcycling.
Dave’s journey began with a memorable ride at Shenandoah Harley Davidson,
where he was invited by store owner Bob Ladd. As Bob took off with a burst of speed, Dave opted for a more leisurely pace. What unfolded was a charming metaphor—like the tortoise and the hare—illustrating that every biker’s journey is unique. While Bob zoomed ahead, Dave enjoyed the rugged beauty of the Shenandoah Mountains, unknowingly leading a parade of cars behind him.
Gatherings like these are vital, fostering camaraderie and support among bikers. Dave has dedicated himself to creating hand-painted expressions that celebrate individuality within the motorcycle community. His artwork not only personalizes bikes but also connects riders on a deeper level. From showcasing road names to significant life moments—like a phoenix design symbolizing victory over health challenges—his work tells powerful stories.
Moreover, these artistic expressions serve practical purposes. Custom designs catch the eye, keeping drivers alert and engaged, ensuring bikers stand out on the road. As Dave shared, “If you start
imagining something that has never been done before, then I will know that you are an original.”
In an effort to further unite the community, Dave offered attendees a special deal: with any custom painting, they would receive a complimentary copy of his book, celebrating the joy of creativity and connection in motorcycling. Through his passion for art and biking, Dave Letterfly is not just making bikes beautiful; he’s fostering a vibrant, supportive community that thrives on originality and shared experiences. So, rev up your imagination and let your bike tell your story!

A SERIOUS TWO WHEELED DISEASE, BIKERITIS
Happy October my BTR friends. It’s the month for Biketoberfest, fall festivals and spooky times. With cooler and dryer weather upon us, Mike and I will be doing some great riding. We like to get started early in September and enjoy it when and if it really cools off in November. That way we get in at least two full months of fun.
Mike breaks in, “Hey my little buddy why don’t you just call it the fall season? You know it never really starts on October 1 or ends on October 31. With so many things to see and do, you and I are going to be busy. I’m planning various special spooky/quirky rides for us on the way to Daytona as we speak.”
I squawk, “oh boy! I love spooky, quirky things and Biketoberfest. I remember the time you took me to Corky’s corn maze and the chickens and roosters chased me thru the maze. They were bigger than me, squawked louder than me and kept bouncing off the corn stalks because I was smaller and could squeeze between them. That was a blast! By the way, isn’t corn called maze? Why don’t they call the place Corky’s corn corn, or Corky’s maze maze?” Mike blurts out, “yes bird brain or should I call you corn brain? It’s all in the spelling. But of course what do you know about spelling? You just type out the story with your talons and let AutoCorrect fix it! Before we leave town, we’re going to ride
over Thrill Hill in south St. Pete and earn the sticker: I climbed Thrill Hill that they sell at the local convenience store. Thrill Hill, a humpback bridge over Salt Creek, was first created when a trolley line was introduced in the 1900’s. It was built steep enough to allow for high tides, stormwater surges and was referred to as ‘the hump.’ It’s a one hump mini roller coaster ride. I’m gonna make your wings and the Fat Bird 3 wheels get airborne for just one second.”
I cackle, “roller coaster?airborne? You know I don’t fly and I don’t like the feeling of my crop up in my beak. You’d better put some Poligrip on my talons so I’ll be able to stay on the scoot and keep my food down.
But what’s gonna keep you on the bike? Your fat ass? Bungee cords? A backpack full of rocks? I think you should use Super Poligrip so you can fly by the grip of your pants!”
Mike replies, “gravity, plus a little luck is what I’m planning on! Then my little buddy we’re going to ride out to Spook Hill in Lake Whales. It’s a gravity hill that, according to lore, gives you an eerie sensation of being pulled backwards. The area gets it name from when an Indian chief and a giant alligator fought to the death. They both died on each side of the road. So, as legend has it if you’re sitting still, the spirits will be pushing your vehicle backwards to protect the sacred grounds. We are going to see if the Harley rolls backwards!”
I screech, “well dad, you know I don’t fly backwards and I definitely don’t roll backwards. Before we get there you’ll need to stop at the closest watering hole and check the most dangerous part on the motorcycle.”
Mike questions, “What is it Spyke? The tires? The steering head? The brakes? Please tell me my macaw mechanic.”
I screech, “No, my bumbling biker daddy. It’s the nut that connects the seat to the handlebar! Jeez, sometimes I think I need to pat you on your head with a hammer!”
Mike replies, “well sometimes I think I need to show you the butterball in the freezer! Maybe then you will realize who the smarter one is here!
I will admit to having a serious two wheeled disease, Bikeritis. Once the sickness of loving and riding a motorcycle is discovered within you, there is no cure for the cause. No hammer on the head is going to fix me. My world can and will fall down around me and the only medicine that works is wind therapy. So as long as I’m in the wind, it doesn’t matter that I’m two cans short of a six pack or what the hell is going on in my life.
Riding motorcycles is like drinking beer. Bikes should come with a warning label that reads;
WARNING: riding a motorcycle is addictive, it can change your life forever!”
I gobble loudly, “You are so right, my derelict daddy! Ever since you taught me how to ride on the scoot 29 years ago, I’ve had the same taste in my beak! Up until now I thought it was just bugs and road dirt between my mandibles. Now you’ve made me realize that I have contracted Bikeritis!
I think it’s time for some wind therapy right now. Let’s get a little dosage before we take that journey heading towards Biketoberfest. Go get the scoot out of the garage while I finish the story. You need to get my talons on your shoulder, your knees under the triple trees, my wings in the wind and the Fat Bird 3 wheels rolling down the road, pre Biketoberfest!

RONNIE and EMILY’S RONNIE and EMILY’S
CHRISTIAN MOTORCYCLISTS ASSOCIATION
On the road again, I just can’t wait to get on the road again. If you are like me, it is difficult to read these words and not sing them. This great song by Willie Nelson is a classic. One of the verses says “Goin’ places that I’ve never been, Seein’ things that I may never see again, And I can’t wait to get on the road again”. Thinking about the words to this song brings a longing to go and ride. We think about places to go then imagine what it will be like when we arrive. What will we see that we may never see again?
We load the bikes with the necessities of the trip. Check once, check twice for our needed items. Review the directions for my journey. Next, we start the engines and hear the roar. Finally we are “on the road again”. We are going places that we have never been. We are happy to be on the road again. Something in our spirits makes us desire to travel. In our Christian walk, we also begin to long for a place where we have never been. It is a place that is promised to us for those who are in Christ.
I am reminded of scriptures that talk about this destination. We read our first verse in Philippians 3:20 “But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior”. It is interesting that
believing in Christ makes us citizens in heaven. Traveling in this world is only part of our journey to our city in heaven. Reading in this next passage we see more of the journey: Hebrews 11:1516 “If they had longed for the country they came from, they could have gone back. But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them”.
Reading this makes me want to “get on the road again”. I journey through this physical life as I look forward to my final destination already prepared for me. It is a heavenly homeland which is a far better place than any destination we will find here on earth.
Teach’s Takeaway,
- Traveling begins with getting “on the road again”.
- Continue to look for a better place, a heavenly homeland.
- As citizens of heaven, we must stay focused on our final stop as we travel in this life.
We are travelers by spirit. We are looking for new places to go to. There is a better place which is a heavenly homeland. As we follow Christ, he has prepared a city for us. Let us look forward to arriving at the best destination we could ever imagine. Let’s ride together and arrive together. Ride on.
