Off-Ramp Diver

You are riding along an urban freeway, in the far right lane. Just as you approach an off-ramp, a car in the lane to your left dives in front of you, braking hard to make the off-ramp at the last possible moment. You have very little room to brake or swerve, and a crash may be imminent. When you see an off-ramp ahead, glance around you and evaluate the

situation. Do you see any cars around you that might exit? Are you doing anything that might cause other drivers to expect you to exit? Since you are riding along in what is the exit lane, other drivers may assume that you are going to exit as well—an assumption that might affect their movements. Off-ramps (and onramps) are prime locations for vehicular conflicts. When approaching a

ramp, it is often a good idea to move out of the exit/entrance lane. Take steps to avoid riding in the blind spots of cars traveling around you. In this situation, the driver might not have known that you were even between him and the exit, if you were in his blind spot. For more information go to www.msf-usa.org

CUBA: EXOTIC. IN TRANSITION. THRILLING BUT MOST OF ALL: SURPRISING-EVERY TIME

Cuba from the perspective of a small, unique subculture; 50 portraits of people who have resisted the embargo for a long time and have kept their Harley-Davidson motorcycles neat and tidy. In 1967, the Government ordered all PoliceHarleys be buried in a hole in a prison in Santiago de Cuba for ideological reasons. Then, in the 70s and 80s, spare parts were nowhere to be found, so Cuban Harlistas cannibalized parts from Russian cars and adapted them according to their needs – pistons from Ladas and valves from Kamas, while exhaust pipes were made from old transformers. A Harley was only worth a tip, nobody wanted these big and expensive bikes. Especially not in the “Periodio Especial” following the fall of the Socialist bloc, when an economic crisis almost drove the country

to its knees, famine ruled and gas was unaffordable. Against all odds, “Harlistas” defended their ancient machines which served them so well. In time, the American bikes regained their public reputation as means of transportation as well as a status symbol. The owner exudes not only self confidence but also exclusivity, a fact not to be underestimated in the macho country that is Cuba.

They tell readers about their bikes, but most of all about their country These 50 portraits taken by Italian photographer Max Cucchi, were produced over a ten-year span and illustrate these beautiful motorcycles in archetypical Cuban settings. However, what these images also reveal are the owners in their private

environment: In the living room, on the field, in the center of Havana, and of course, in their garages. They tell us about their machines, but most of all about their country - about the problems, the difficulties which they have to face every day. You will get to know a lot about Cuba and about the people who live there, about their perseverance, their slyness, their passion and their tenacity. Those who still want to get to know the “old” Cuba have come to the right place. Cuban Harleys, Mi Amor, is an entertaining history lesson. With this book and its beautiful images, readers are transported via the American Harley Davidson iron hogs, which page by page show the Cuban reality, (English, Spanish and German) which above all tell us one thing: What Cuba is really like. Even as a little boy he was a big fan of motorcycles and used to own different models, from the famous VespaScooter to a Cagiva Enduro. Born in Brescia in Northern Italy, Max is the author and publisher of the “Max” tourist guide and of the magazine “CubaSi”. As a journalist and photographer, he has worked for the Cuban tourism industry, which enabled him to explore the country thoroughly. He took pictures reflecting all aspects of life across the island; many of these images are available for future projects. As a fresh arrival to Cuba, he got hooked on motorcycle culture, especially the culture of Harley-Davidson. It was this interest that gave him the idea to tell the story of Cuban Harlistas. Currently, Max owns a Harley-Davidson, works as a photo journalist and keeps his passion for

everything Harley-Davidson. Author Conner Gorry Author and journalist Conner Gorry received her BA in Latin American Studies from New York University and a Master’s degree in political sciences from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. She is author of several books, including Havana Street Style (2014; Intellect Books), A Contemporary Cuba Reader (2015; Rowman & Littlefield) and Places of a Lifetime (2015; National Geographic). Since 2002, she has lived and worked in Havana, from where she writes her blog www. hereishavana.com and reports on the Cuban health system for MEDICC Review. the Rocker-and Biker Scene can be bought as a book series “Back Diaries” providing a backstage view and which is not part of the endless series of at least questionable exposés and didactic books. After “Hell Ride through Arizona”, a journey to the roots of the American MC-Scene and the founders of the Hells Angels he wrote “Harlistas in the Caribbean”, which tells about his adventurous Harley tour across Cuba. “When I first saw Max Cucchi’s pictures I was immediately fascinated. I travelled to Cuba in order to investigate missing text and took a deep dive into the original and authentic Cuba,” Jens Fuge says. Whether it was farmer Hector in Santa Clara, street vendor “Fritura” in Santiago de Cuba or rock star David Blanco – they all told the most unbelievable stories about their beloved bikes. Fuge was able to take a look at the ancient machines, each of them at least 60 years old, at many diverse locations: In the living room, on the fields, in the garage. Locations for dreams and yearnings. And infatuation: “What unbelievable garages they have over there in Cuba! They are stuffed to the last corner with thousands of seemingly useless parts of indiscernible character. They are stacked, hang from the wall, or just lie in the way. And on the unplastered walls held by some rusty nails, the tools: wrenches, socket attachments, steer chain spanners, self made special tools. Archaic, chaotic specialized in attrition - like the country itself.” BORNTORIDE.COM | BTR 21

Find It Now GPS, The Original Security System Made in the USA! Now Available at Mountain Motor Sports

Most of us have a lot of money invested in our two or three-wheeled motorcycles. Can you even imagine what it would feel like to realize that your bike has been stolen? If you get the ‘Find It Now’ device installed on your bike, there’s a good chance your bike will get back to you in an hour or two! Mike Conners, CEO and Founder of ‘Find It Now’ (FIN®) is the inventor of this invaluable item. I had the pleasure of speaking with him about his business and the Find It Now device. “I was in the automotive sub-prime business for 12 years before I started this. They used a device that would remind customers that it was time to make the payment on their vehicle. That was years ago! That was the pre-curser to more advanced things, and has evolved into using cellular and GPS.” “I’ve been riding for over 50 years. There wasn’t anything directly designed for motorcycles or power sports for security. You have LoJack but that only worked in the major cities of 27 states. It doesn’t work in all states

even today. So, over the years, I started to design a new product, working directly with the builders and engineers.” “We launched in 2009 at the V-Twin show in Cincinnati. We have over 300 dealers with coverage in all of North America including Mexico, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, and the Virgin Islands. FIN® is sold primarily in the Finance and Insurance departments in the dealerships. It’s also sold through the service department at dealerships. When people have a lot of money invested in their motorcycles, they want to keep them protected.” “Our success rate is 94.6%. We work strictly with the police departments. We not only save them time and money; we make their jobs easier for them.” Mike, a veteran, was in the Navy from 1964-1970. “VP of Operations, Ray Banken and Bill Pierson, our chief technology officer/ IT manager, have both been here from the beginning. Both are former Marines. Sales people around the country are also former military. My wife is the CFO. This is a family

business. We treat everyone like family. FIN® is Made in America, something we are very proud of. The major players in this company are all veterans and again, we are very proud of that. That goes a long way with me.” In closing, Mike gave me a great closing statement: “Thanks for checking us out and remember this, ‘The bitterness of poor quality and service remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.’ You will soon realize the quality of our brand and service is our pledge to you.” If you don’t have a security system on your bike, I highly recommend you calling your local motorcycle or power sport dealership today and make an appointment for your Find It Now GPS security system. Mountain Motorsports is one of the premier motorsports retails in the country and FIN® GPS Security is proud to be part of the team. The peace of mind will be worth the time in getting this installed! Get yours at Mountain Motor Sports, for morwe information call:770-425-4000

Mystic Rhythms The Tranquility of Motorcycle Road-Tripping

Recently while doing a some much-needed yard work, a song came over my ear buds that took me back, on a ride down Memory Lane, so to speak. The song, “Clocks” by Coldplay, caused me to pause and reflect on a moto-road trip I took with a childhood chum two years ago. Yes, I know, that song and that band aren’t the first ones that come to mind when thinking about motorcycle riding, but I remember that song playing in my head while riding a long, tranquil stretch of the Natchez Trace Parkway with my friend Lyle. The tune and voice are almost hypnotic, and it was the perfect backdrop to the state of mind I was in as we wound our way down that gently undulating road through south central Mississippi. I stood there in the middle of my yard, propped on my rake, eyes closed, riding that breathtaking stretch again in my mind, probably even swaying, not so much to the music as to the memory of the big Yamaha underneath me on that strip of blacktop. I was there again, in my head and in my heart. An acute case of wanderlust was once again welling up within me. There is a state of mind, of spirit, that long miles and hours in the saddle can bring to a rider. A state of peace, tranquility, relaxation, yet complete focus, awareness and control that a rider settles into out on the open road. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi proposed the concept of “flow,” a mental state experienced when so totally immersed in an activity that a feeling of complete focus, engagement, and enjoyment is achieved. I’ve heard it called “the zone,” “moto-nirvana,” “zen” and “motorcycle heaven” among riders. Whatever the moniker, this state of being is something not experienced in many other aspects of life. A long trip in a fourwheeled “cage” can get tiresome, monotonous, even tedious, after hours and miles on the highway. Yet on a motorcycle, every moment, every mile, every sensation, can bring pure serenity, pure harmony. As the late singer/songwriter Rich Mullins once penned about riding, “Let the road wind tie our hair in knots; let the speed and the freedom untangle our lives.” I know that feeling.” I remember finding myself in this state while on another road trip, with my friend Mike. We were heading west out of Amarillo on I-40, making for Tucumcari by nightfall. We practically had the interstate to ourselves, as we chased the sun toward the western horizon. As we descended off the high plains of panhandle Texas, toward the desert and mesas of New Mexico, the setting sun was splashing a kaleidoscope of color across the skies. Behind us, as darkness crept over the canopy above, a nearly full moon was rising behind our right shoulders. With Mike riding lead, his silhouette framed by the BTR 30 | BORNTORIDE.COM

sinking sun, I fell into that state, almost like a trance. I rode, I sang, I prayed, and I found a stillness, a centering, had come over me. It was a mystical, mythical peace, with the setting sun in my face, the wind blowing by my ears, my hands gripping the handlebars, the big Yamaha pulsing out a rhythm beneath me. That particular trip was in late 2010, yet I remember those moments, and many others on that trip, like they were yesterday. On yet another trip, one I took with my father back in ’08, we rode the fabled Blue Ridge Parkway for several days. Weaving and rolling across this ribbon of blacktop heaven in the Smokies, the beauty of the mountains, coupled with the gentle tempo of the road around vistas and through tunnels, I found myself in that state as well, feeling the rhythm of the road, the bike, the fellowship with my father, and the breath-taking surroundings. I even remember the morning we were up early enough to witness that spectacular moment when the morning cloud cover suddenly floats up, from below the Parkway to above it. Riding through that was nothing short of spiritual, almost divine to me. Being a Christian, I find an intimacy of fellowship with my Creator in those moments, which is hard to duplicate in other settings and activities. Many people wonder and question why we ride. Do we crave adventure? Did we never grow up? Do we have a death wish? Often we who ride will simply give the answer, “the freedom.” And yet, when I find myself in that perfect riding state, that “mystic rhythm” if I may borrow from rock legends Rush, simply saying that I ride because of the freedom doesn’t even come close to capturing it. I’m addicted to that state like a drug. I am easily reminded of those moments, and so many others, so often in my everyday life. I find myself reflecting on them, discussing them with friends who know that place as well, and yearning for the next time I can saddle up, hit the road, and search for it again. I guess that’s why I ride. Roll, roll me away I’m gonna roll me away tonight. Gotta keep rollin’, gotta keep ridin’, Keep searching ‘till I find what’s right. … -Bob Seger, “Roll Me Away” Rob Brooks is a rider, a writer, and a man of faith and family. He recently published a book, entitled “Road Dirt: The Musings & Ramblings of a Biker Preacher,” available on Amazon Books and Amazon Kindle. Find him at www.rtbrooks.wordpress.com

On April 24th, the Rolling Glory 2 mission started from San Bernardino, CA, which was the site of the terrorist attack that killed 14 people and wounded 22. The flag that was flown at the attack site is traveling across the United States to another terrorist attack site, “Ground Zero” New York City, for the 15th Anniversary of 9-11. Ol’ Glory is being escorted by bikers to remember the victims, survivors, and family members of all terrorist attacks against our Nation. Strangers will meet strangers at each State line, shake hands, hug and pass on this flag. Although it looks like any other ordinary U.S. flag, this flag represents the symbol of freedom that has been paid in blood by men and women who stood in defense of that freedom. We were BTR 32 | BORNTORIDE.COM

honored to be one of the States where it travelled through. Since the flag was coming from San Bernardino, as a former deputy in the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office, many years ago, this also had special meaning for me. On the early Friday morning of July 29th, members of the American Legion Riders, Hellfighters Motorcycle Ministry (M/M) and Independent Harley Riders Assn. consisting of: Tim & Trish Farmer, Robert Greer, Brad Mock, Mark Smith, Eugene Strickland, Tom Wilson & I, and friends Dan Harden Jr. & Nichole in a Jeep, left Albany, Georgia on a 100-mile journey to pick up the flag in Alabama. We were escorted part of the way by the Lee County & Terrell County Sheriff’s Office. Near Phenix City, we met the

Alabama escort, Gary Steward, of the Hellfighters M/M and the flag was passed to Brad Mock of the Georgia Hellfighters. Although there were many groups involved in the escort of the flag across the U.S., it was the Hellfighters M/M that happened to be the primary escort in many States. Coming back into Albany, GA, we were escorted again by the Sheriff’s Office and after a brief stop at the Albany American Legion, we took the flag to the Albany Mall, where it was on display for a week. A week later on Saturday morning, August 6th, a slightly larger escort, some from the same riding organizations as from the first trip, left Albany, Georgia. This group consisted of Buster Arnold, Tim

& Trish Farmer, Harry Fisher, JB Frazier, Ben Lockett, Brad Mock, Jeff Sexton, Tom Wilson & I, with friends Colleen; Dan Jr. & Ashley Harden riding in two Jeeps. Forty miles down the road, most of the riders peeled off at Cordele by I-75. Brad Mock, Ben Lockett, Buster Arnold and I on bikes and the Hardens following us in two Jeeps, continued to Macon via I-75. After the rest and fuel stop in Macon, Buster peeled off and the three of us continued on our bikes on highway 129 to Athens, along with the Hardens in their Jeeps. We stopped to eat lunch with some great food in Athens at the “Butt Hutt” BBQ, which had tables reserved for us. Athens was the Hardens destination, since Colleen was moving her daughter, Ashley, into her residence at the University of Georgia. Brad, Ben

and I continued on what remained of the 250-mile trip to SC. We rode on some nice scenic winding roads up highway 129 and 106 to Carnesville where we got on I-85, followed by a short ride to the South Carolina welcome station. At the SC station, the flag was passed off to Rick Tate of the Carolina Hellfighters M/M, thus completing the flags 350-mile trip across Georgia. Rick said the flag would be on display at the Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Andersonville, SC for a week, before continuing its journey to North Carolina. The flag will continue from Anderson, through SC and on across the BTR 38 | BORNTORIDE.COM

other States in route to New York where it will be flown at “Ground Zero” in New York City, as a symbol of the determination and the resilience of the people of the United States against terrorism. Throughout both trips, when we would stop to rest or fuel, people would come up to us and ask us about the flag. Those that escorted the flag in every State said the same. Coming back from Alabama, we even had some residents of Columbia, South America, that were impressed with what we were doing. Everywhere we went there was a story within the presence of Ol’ Glory. Zach Ness Creates Victory “Combustion” as an Answer to what an American Muscle Bike can be.

Zach Ness created “Combustion” as an answer to what an American Musclebike can be, with taut bodywork and graphics that emphasize the excitement Victory Motorcycles® is bringing to the American Motorcycle market. The first and second bikes in this series included Roland Sands’ Project 156 and Urs Erbacher’s Ignition Concept that celebrate the evolution of the newest engine for Victory Motorcycles®. The American automotive scene is filled with inspiration for this latest concept motorcycle. Legendary Muscle Cars that emphasized power and light weight to maximize street performance were the inspiration for Ness’ build. The new engine promises stellar performance in the 1200cc musclebike class, and is part of the future for Victory Motorcycles®. Born into custom motorcycle royalty, Zach Ness is the third generation of custom builders. His grandfather, Arlen, and father, Cory, established a relationship with Victory Motorcycles® when Zach was only twelve, so the brand has been part of his entire adult life. Surrounded every day by horsepower, style and innovation, Zach was the ideal builder to take on the challenge of creating the third concept around the new Victory Motorcycles’ engine. Ness worked with the Victory Motorcycles® industrial design team, led by Michael Song, to create this concept motorcycle. “This platform is awesome – loads of power, and an insane engine sound,” says Ness of the new engine. “The inspiration for the bike came fully from the throttle – I wanted to create a bike that was BTR 36 | BORNTORIDE.COM

fast – light and ready to attack the next green light.” COMBUSTION CONCEPT HIGHLIGHTS The design for Combustion features key elements that speak to performance styling and power. Key design features include a quarter fairing, aggressive semimatte paint, sculpted side-covers, a trim fender and the characteristic Victory Motorcycles® raised spine that flows through the body. Ness’ custom background shows up in the wire wheels, intricate pin striping and clean details that include: Arlen Ness® Knurled Grips, Shift and Foot Pegs, “Torque Box” Air Cleaner, Custom Handlebars and Arlen Ness® by MagnaFlow® Exhaust – a oneoff stainless steel design. Combustion also features beveled brake rotors, custom painted Brembo® radial brake calipers and Goodridge® brake lines. Billet pieces include top riser clamps, engine and master cylinder covers. RideWright Wheels® are fitted to billet hubs and rims with stainless steel spokes. Paint is by Eric Reyes. Liquid-cooled with 4-valve heads and dual-overhead cams, Octane’s 60-degree V-twin makes more horsepower than any Victory ever built—104 horsepower and 76 foot-pounds of tireshredding torque. Geared for quick acceleration, Octane sprints down the quarter-mile in 12 seconds and rushes from 0-60 mph in under four seconds. Biker Movie Review

This month Born To Ride reviews the classic “On Any Sunday.” On Any Sunday is not a typical motorcycle exploitation film, but on the contrary a very positive motorcycle ‘sport’ documentary piece featuring Steve McQueen, Mert Lawwill, Malcolm Smith, and a cast of hundreds of other motorcycle racers and enthusiasts. This 1971 expose was produced by Bruce Brown, and Steve McQueen, and features some very good cinematography considering it’s vintage. It also portrays motorcycle enthusiasts as ‘good guys’ instead of the alternative. BTR 40 | BORNTORIDE.COM

The opening scene shows a group of kids racing their bicycles, making motorcycle noises. Some credit this scene with the ‘creation’ of BMX, but I looked at it as a positive thing for the motorcycle community, as we watch our kids aspire to be like us as they grow older. This film leaves no stone unturned in the motorcycle racing world, covering everything from road racing to the “Widow Maker” hill climb. A good portion of the movie focuses on the career of Mert Lawwill who held the AMA number one plate for one grueling season, riding his Harley XR 750 in the flat track series. The film follows Mert through one of his bad years where multiple engine failures and other calamities cause him to lose the coveted number 1 plate to Gene Romero at the season finale in Sacramento. Mert didn’t just flat track it all the way through the film however. He and his costars, Malcolm Smith and Steve McQueen are filmed in various situations in multiple divisions of motorcycle racing. Most know McQueen as an actor who would spend a lot of leisure time as an auto racer, but On Any Sunday will show you that he is a very accomplished motorcycle racer as well. On Any Sunday is often credited as the best and/or most important motorcycle documentary ever made. Roger Ebert says “It does for motorcycle racing what The Endless Summer did for surfing.” I agree with Ebert on this (for once we agree) but don’t forget that Bruce Brown produced both of these films, so that quote is more of an insult than a compliment in my opinion. On Any Sunday is available on a digitally re-mastered DVD and the “Directors Cut” edition comes with yet a second DVD which covers the making of the movie behind the scenes, the trailer, interviews and et cetera. This flick runs 96 minutes, and you will likely enjoy at least 90 of them! If you love motorcycles and racing, you will like this film! I’ll give this one 5 out of 5 stars for keeping me entertained without pissing me off!

Motorcycle or Car Accident, now What? By Matt Danielson, The Motorcycle Law Group

Nobody wants to think that they’ll be the one in a car or motorcycle accident, but statistics show there were more than 5.6 million accidents in the United States in 2012, the most recent year of government crash statistics. Should you be one of those licensed drivers who has an unlucky day – either on two wheels or four – one of your best defenses is to know what to do at the scene of an accident before it takes place. With the tips below as a frame of reference, you’ll be prepared to handle an accident scene: Don’t say anything. But aren’t I required to give a statement to the police? No, you are not. And you shouldn’t say anything about how the accident happened to police, to the other parties or even to witnesses. From a legal perspective, the Fifth Amendment gives us the choice to remain silent. At the scene of the accident, emotions are running high, and you only have the prospective as a driver. As these two factors are combined, you may not give an accurate account of what occurred and that may be a disadvantage to you later with insurance companies and in court. Therefore, tell the police, “Officer, I’m not feeling well, and I need medical attention. I can make a statement later.” Another alternative is, “Officer, I’d like to have a

chance to regroup, and I’m not giving a statement at this time. I’ll be happy to speak to you later.” (Later is after you have had a chance to calm down and speak with a lawyer.) Call a friend to take pictures and connect with witnesses. It’s important to gather certain information from an accident scene right away, and you shouldn’t rely on the police to do it for you. Therefore, call a friend who can come to the accident scene quickly to help you, assuming you are not in the mental state to take photos and get the names and phone numbers of any witnesses. Use a cell phone to take photos of: - Wide-angle views of the vehicles/ motorcycles involved as they landed after an accident before they are moved/towed, assuming it is safe to do so - Wide-angle views of debris on the roadway before it is cleared to the side - Close-up shots of damage to each vehicle/motorcycle Look for witnesses to the accident: When insurance companies battle each other, your best defense can be witnesses who saw your accident. Get their names and phone numbers at the scene because you may need them for court as well. Call an attorney like us. When you’ve had

an accident, you may need some advice on what to do next and whether or not you may be at fault. We speak to many drivers each day – motorcyclists and automobile drivers alike – who need a gut check on their situation. Give the Motorcycle Law Group a call (1-800-321-8968) before you speak with your insurance company, and we’re happy to help even if you do not need formal representation. Remember, speaking to a lawyer doesn’t mean hiring a lawyer. A reputable lawyer will advise you that you do not need one if you truly do not. ability to repair and then certify the performance for every model in the line gives you a different outlook on the mode of transportation that all love so much. It sort of puts you into the mind-set of the particular model owner and further allows you experience those motorcycles that you have never owned or ridden. This has to be the greatest job that a biker could have and other than playing music and hosting bike nights & radio shows, there is nothing else I would rather do! There are some other lucky people out there also. They are those pesky motorcycle cops that seem to come out of nowhere and have the ability to chase down your Corvette if they so desire! You gotta give these guys a ton of respect because they not only work hard protecting the population in their respective service areas, but they actually get issued a company motorcycle and safety equipment plus they get PAID to ride! I could never be a cop. Welcome to summer! It’s hot as hell here in the trailer park I have been labeled as the ‘other’ side of the law all my life and the temperature continues to rise. Not only here, but at work, on the streets and the political situation is at a meltdown and it doesn’t pay anything. Neither am I trying to say that my life wasn’t exciting and fantastic or am I trying to say that point. I understand that the people are all restless and the I would change any of it. Nothing can replace the road and endless diatribe from the boob tube is simply fodder for unnecessary drama and baseless arguments. You gotta love our brotherhood! I can assure you that these motorcycle cops are some of country and our freedom but when an election year is looming, the best riders and most qualified first responders out there. it is difficult to escape the negativity, hate and slander that They endure rigid training and orientation plus all the regular comes along with the campaign ads. I was lucky enough to get cop stuff that they do. If I ever thought for one second that I a new TV for my birthday, but in the rare times that I get to turn it on, I am often repulsed by the vicious attacks and drivel could do this job, I would decline it. That’s my history which delivered by the Democratic and Republican parties. Disgusting you, my dedicated readers know very well. If I could do that job, I would likely forget that I was issued a company radar as it is, I have found a unique way to escape it all and forget gun however! I suspect that most of these guys and gals that about the BS. I work. do this, have a motorcycle or two in their garage, so the love As a motorcycle mechanic, (the motor company would of riding motorcycles likely carries forward into their off-duty like to refer to us as “Technicians”) I have the wonderful and times and the kinship that all bikers cherish carries forward into spiritually fulfilling task of test riding a variety of motorcycles. the future. We don’t just take them around the that the ‘dry’ cycle is coming and we all must avoid the ‘spin’ parking lot or around the block, we actually RIDE them. High cycle! Dammit man! Why am I talking about laundry equipment speed, low speed, cornering, up and down hills and anything tonight? Oh, I forgot. After a long day at work, I came home else you can imagine. This may be the best perk of being a to a flooded floor and stayed up most of the night repairing the motorcycle repair person (politically correct version of the job description) and the best of all the benefits is that you actually washer/dryer combo that decided to crap out. … It is what it is and we all do what we have to do. God Promises to Provide Wisdom of me, and it was about 10:30 in the morning, wisdom told me that I was oriented East. I ignored the road signs and turned Left so I could go North and look for a larger road intersecting the farm road I was traveling. Eventually I found my way, and learned a valuable lesson as well, use wisdom, not just knowledge, in making my plans. The Bible teaches us to seek wisdom. In James 1:5 (NKJV) the Bible says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to

Sometimes when we ride we take a quick look at the map, or perhaps jot down some road numbers and which way to turn, and then off we go. If you are on a bike, it just isn’t practical to have your riding companion try to get out a map and unfold it while you are going 60 miles per hour plus! Most of all, if you are like me, you don’t want to kill the time by finding a spot to pull over and get out a map! We may have just enough knowledge as to where we are going, but not enough wisdom to take the extra time to check the printed directions. Once I was going from Lake Okeechobee to South Miami Beach, and a local asked if I know where I was going, as a lot of folks get lost in that part of South Florida. I told him where I was going and he told me that he had a much better way! Being a wise traveler, I decided to commit his directions to memory, big mistake! Then, as I traveled South around the East side of the Lake, I never found the first turnoff, even after several miles. Finally I had enough, and used dead reckoning to guide me to take a left (East) turn. After miles of a two lane road, surrounded by sugar cane fields, I came to a stop sign. The sign pointing to my left (North) said South, and the sign pointing to my right (South) said North. Now I am in a jam, what should I do? I’m now officially in the middle of nowhere! him.” Just like needing wisdom in planning a trip, we need wisdom as we walk down the road of life. By reading the Bible, and discovering that Jesus wants to be your Savior and Lord, you can take knowledge and turn it into life changing wisdom. Just like God promises to provide wisdom to whomever asks for it, Jesus promises to forgive the sins and become the Lord of Life for all who ask Him to do so. If you want to harness the power of wisdom, or that peace that can only come from being a child of God, ask Jesus into your heart today.
