• 650 employees • 225 trucks, including waste collectors, haulage cabs and container trucks • 75 trailers • 16 external addresses/sites in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the UK and USA • Turnover of approx 500.000.000 DKK
It is important to us to have a safe and healthy working environment. This requires constant focus and new initiatives. Thus, we have active working environment representatives and health ambassadors, backed up by the management. In 2010, we received The Danish Confederation of Trade Unions Working Environment Award, and in 2012, we were appointed Denmark’s 2nd healthiest company. We have a total of 9 ”Gazelles” and 2 ”Entrepreneur of the Year” awards, signalising that our company is growing and profits match. In 2006, we received the award ”Den gyldne Ambolt” for a successful alternation of generations, submitted by the employees.

History
• 1970 Aabenraa Budcentral was founded in Aabenraa • 1971 Margit and Peder Meldgaard moved the company to Forstallé 75 in Aabenraa. The moving company is founded, start-up of Meldgaard Serviceudlejning • 1976 Meldgaard won the tender for domestic waste collection in the municipality of Aabenraa (a contract we had for 32 years until 2008) • 1977 The company moved to another site at the harbour in Aabenraa • 1977 Meldgaard was appointed exclusive distributor of Hollandske Hejselad for container transport • 1978 The company moved to Industrivej 1 in Aabenraa • 1980 Silicate sales and later import of sand from India commence • 1987 Meldgaard Hydraulik A/S and Meldgaard Silikat A/S were founded • 1989 Meldgaard Miljø A/S – domestic waste collection was founded • 1993 Meldgaard Handel A/S was founded • 1995 The head office moved from Industrivej 1 to Askelund 10, the wholesale business Meldgaard Foder & Hobby A/S was founded • 1998 Meldgaard Engros A/S was founded • 2001 Meldgaard Miljø A/S won the tender for domestic waste collection in several municipalities, which led to expansion from about 80 to 400 employees in 4 years • 2003 Meldgaard Recycling A/S was founded with a waste sorting building at Bladknæk being opened • 2005 Transition of generation with the company now under the management of the 2nd generation, Henrik, Lasse and Line • 2008 Expansion of the administration at Askelund, and silos are built for silicate • 2009 Now with waste stations in Marstup near Haderslev, in Aalborg, on Funen and in Aabenraa • 2011 Meldgaard purchased 65% of the shares in Garnet Greenline in Sweden • 2012 Meldgaard purchased Fogtmann Transport A/S (25 trucks and 30 employees) • 2012 Meldgaard establishes operations in the UK and USA

Residues
Bottom ash from Waste to Energy incinerators is 100% recyclable. During combustion in the incinerator, the elements that can’t burn end up in the bottom ash. For the receipt of these ashes, we have sites in all parts of Denmark. We receive and sort the ashes from the Waste-to-Energy plants, providing the local construction market with a quality substitute for engineering fill, soil and sub-base gravel. Recycled bottom ash can for example be used as engineering fill for earthworks in the construction industry. Recycled bottom ash is a low-cost alternative to natural raw construction materials. • Receipt and sorting of ashes from heat and power plants in Denmark. • Receipt of fly ash from coal power plants in Jutland. • Sale of bottom ash and fly ash for sub-base works under buildings, roads, squares and surface silos, covered with bound material. Meldgaard Miljø A/S has broad experience in delivering bottom ash to agricultural constructions and can refer to several projects where ash has been used successfully with large economic savings. Ash is very weather stable and can be incorporated and compacted during even very wet periods. Ash has great technical capabilities on par with nature gravel.

Recycling
Meldgaard Recycling A/S offers separation of bottom ash from Waste to Energy power plants. Bottom ash is 100% recyclable with the extraction of ferrous and non-ferrous metals contributing to the financial benefits. Meldgaard Recycling receives bottom ash from Waste to Energy plants from all over Denmark, whereafter our competent teams and mobile plants extract the ferrous and non-ferrous metals and produce a resulting ash aggregate. For the recycling of bottom ash, we have a wide range of both mobile and stationary recycling plants which are under continuous further development. This enables us to achieve optimum use of the resulting ash aggregate and efficient extraction rates with the cleanest end product. We are also active in the US and UK.

Meldgaard Hydraulik A/S was founded back in 1987, and was the first retail trading company within the Meldgaard Group. At that time, the company owned just one agency, but it has grown ever since. Today, they import and sell quality products from a long number of European manufacturers, which are sold to numerous regular customers, especially in the transport and construction industry. All products are sold either ”over the counter”, installed in the customer’s own workshop, or by one of our mechanics, working all over the country. • Sale and installation of wire hoist, hook hoist, truck hydraulics, cranes, grab etc. • Sale and installation of electronic road systems for excavators and loaders. • Sale/holding of own lifting and lashing equipment (nationwide inspection). • Sale and rental of tip trailers, carts, trailers, low-loader trucks etc. • Special workshop for truck bodies and construction material. • External fitters. Meldgaard Silikat A/S is leading, when it comes to sales of blasting agents for the steel and ship industry, as well as abrasives for water-jet cutting. Based in Aabenraa, we are centrally located, and are able to deliver directly to bulk consumers all over Europe, or via our retailers. Our suppliers of raw material have been selected via long-term collaboration, with quality being among the very best in the world. • Market-leading when it comes to sales of eco-friendly blasting agents for the steel and ship industry. • Eco-friendly abrasives for water-jet cutting. • Silo rental. • Disposal of used blasting agents and cutting sand in an eco-friendly manner. Meldgaard Engros A/S was founded as a wholesale business in 1999. It was founded to make us able to offer the best animal feed products on the market. Today, we are 17 employees in wholesale and have a 6,000 m2 large modern warehouse. We store animal feed and other supplies for birds, fish, rodents, dogs, cats, reptiles and horses. We hope that our product range and category adjustment may contribute to improved sales and profitability of our partners. • Wholesale. • Sale of animal feed and supplies. • Everything for fish, birds, rodents, horses, dogs, cats and reptiles. • Specialties: feed for pigeons, poultry and birds. • Sole distributor of Versele-Laga products (e.g. Bento Kronen feed). • Large showroom.
