Pushing the Envelope - we’ve all heard the phrase, but you’d be surprised to know that its origins have very little to do with paper, or envelopes as we know them. You see, aeronautical engineers use the term "flight envelope" to describe a combination of factors – speed, height, stress among others – that form the boundaries of safe operation. Go beyond these limits, and you’re, quite literally, pushing the envelope!
This theme runs through all the stories in this issue of Swar. Whether it is the installation story at IIIT Hyderabad, or the impossible-for-the-time challenge that the acoustic waveguide technology solved, or even for our trends feature which looks at how consumer electronics manufacturers are pushing the envelope to achieve what we till recently thought was science fiction.
As always, we hope you enjoy this issue of Swar and keep the feedback coming! Happy reading!
