You fundraised, you sponsored, you volunteered and on June 8, 2014, you walked in celebration of our children: those who have won their battle against childhood disease, those still fighting, and those who will forever live on in our hearts.
The result: an amazing $1.6 million raised for Boston Children’s Hospital and the kids we‘re so proud to care for. We’re proud of you, too.
Thank you for raising funds and saving lives.

Carson, center, in white hat.
Carson’s Crew The only thing deeper than Carson Domey’s dimples is his courage. The 10-year-old faces his rare disease head on—a battle he’s waged at Boston Children’s Hospital for almost three years. There’s no cure for his condition, which is associated with Crohn’s disease, but Carson faces each day with his trademark smile. The staff at Boston Children’s knows his dimples well. In the last year, Carson has endured more than 35 doctor’s appointments and two surgeries, and spent six days in the hospital. A lot of kids would cringe at the thought of going to the hospital, but Carson will tell you
he loves everything about Boston Children’s. “When you walk in those doors you feel welcomed,” says Carson. “You can’t find a better hospital.” It’s no surprise that Carson was eager to support Boston Children’s, walking with a friend last year and starting his own team this year. Team Carson’s Crew set out to raise an impressive $7,000 in its first year, and blew that goal out of the water by raising more than $14,000. Now, as researchers pursue cures for his disease, Carson and his crew are already looking forward to next year’s walk.
“I love the energy on walk day. I love that everyone’s here for our kids. No one wallows in the fact that they’re sick. They leave it all behind and walk together.” —Michelle Domey, Carson’s mom

Your Generosity in Action at Boston Children’s Backed by your support, these treatments and programs are just a few of the many that make a life-saving difference for kids. A New Take on House Calls After surgery, some Boston Children’s patients go home with a “friend” in tow. Videoconferencing robots allow doctors to see how incisions are healing, assess a home environment, answer questions and more—making follow-up easier and less costly.
Doggie Doctors Heal Instead of white coats, some therapists sport black, brown and tan coats. Trained therapy dogs visit patients, providing real health benefits—decreased blood pressure, reduced pain and anxiety, and improved heart health and mood—all helping kids heal quicker.
No Pain. Big Gain. What’s blue and green and can reduce kids’ pain? Ocean algae. A new anesthetic derived from algae is getting stellar marks in our clinical trials. It lasts longer as a painkiller, yet clears faster from the body with fewer side effects—making it both more effective and safer for children.
Care for Kids Across the Globe In many parts of the world, seeing any doctor let alone a pediatrician is simply impossible. Boston Children’s is changing that, training doctors and treating children on site in 68 countries, from Rwanda to Haiti.
