“Later that night I held an atlas in my lap, ran my fingers across the whole world, and whispered ‘where does it hurt?’ It answered, ‘Everywhere, everywhere, everywhere.’” - Warsan Shire

A Note from the Director It is fall of 2021 and the world is immersed in a global pandemic. Unfortunately, this global tragedy has not brought us together as a people. Fear and anger are fueling us now and it is a lethal cocktail. Lines are drawn in Sharpie and everyone is quick to block someone and pretend they never existed. – yet and still: People all over the world are trying to find or hold onto human connection. People are desperate for hope in a hopelessly unjust world. I think the first step is communication. This only gets better by dropping our preconceptions and truly listening without having a judgment at ready. Listening with an open heart and a clear mind. And that’s all I ask as you watch the play. Listen to it…. and let it work on you.
