The School of Music offers 119 state-of-the-art, soundproof, environmentally controlled music practice rooms and storage for even the largest of instruments. › Artist-scholars in the School of Music work with 116 distinguished faculty members. › 3:1 student-to-faculty ratio › You’ll find 160 pianos in the School of Music. › 50+ School of Music graduates currently perform with major symphonies and opera companies across the country, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Opera, and Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Explore and engage the world. Study Abroad

Ensembles

Spend a semester with the Royal College of Music in London, England. The program blends the resources of one of the world’s leading conservatories with the collaborative resources of Boston University Study Abroad. This opportunity is available to undergraduate students entering their junior year of study.

Outside the Practice Room Students in the School of Music have the opportunity to perform in a variety of on-and off-campus settings throughout the year at some of over 300 concerts every academic year. The School of Music believes in excellence and advancement. The Center for New Music and Center for Early Music bring focus and opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration and student involvement. Recent residencies at the School of Music include the Arneis Quartet, VOICES 21C, American composer Tobias Picker, the upand-coming JACK Quartet, and the Muir String Quartet.
