JULY & AUGUST CHEESE OF THE MONTH Beemster XO
$18.99 per lb. $12.99 per lb.
seen elsewhere SALE price
Our featured cheese for the summer is so terrific that it could not be contained by just one month. Beemster XO is revered by cheese connoisseurs for its amazing deep tastes of butterscotch, whiskey and pecan. Its full flavored tastes develop through natural aging of no less than 26 months in historic warehouses. Due to the unique milk and craftsmanship used to make each wheel of XO, it stays creamy while developing intense flavor, allowing for a much more enjoyable taste and mouth feel than any other extra-aged Dutch cheese on the market. Wine fans can pair this outstanding cheese with big reds of all kinds, especially Cabernet and our Craft beer followers will get a real kick from pairing this cheese with their favorite stout.
Recipe Corner Beemster X-O- Reuben Sandwich
Ingredients (for 2 people)
• 4 1/3 oz. Slices Beemster X-O• 1 Tbsp. peanut oil • 1 onion, sliced in rings • 4 slices of rye or coarse whole wheat bread • 2 Tbsp Thousand Island or Russian dressing • 4 Tbsp. (1/3 cup) sauerkraut, drained • 8 pastrami slices
Materials A panini grill or covered frying pan Preparation Heat the oil and fry the sliced onion for 5 minutes until golden brown. Arrange the bread slices on a work surface. Spread two of the slices with the dressing. Divide the onions, sauerkraut, pastrami and cheese between two of the slices and cover each with one of the remaining slices of bread. Toast the sandwiches in a panini grill or use covered frying pan until the cheese is slightly melted. Slice the sandwiches diagonally and serve. Dill pickles on the side make a great addition.

So take a walk on the wild side and have a beer and cheese party. Your friends might look at you a little funny when you bring up the idea, but after a few bites and a couple of sips, they will be glad they came. Give it a try a whole new world of food pairings will now be opened.

Bottles or Cans??
There is still a long standing misconception that cans impart an unpleasant flavor to beer. We disagree, so we decided to put this archaic idea to the test. We gathered together a large group of very willing volunteers and tested products from all categories, domestic, imports, and American craft beer. We came to the following conclusion; beer is good whether it is in cans or bottles. We found no “off taste” for beer in the can. In many cases it tasted better, which is why many American craft brewers prefer to put their beer in cans. In addition to great taste, there are a couple of practical advantages. Cans are lighter than bottles and they chill much quicker, which make them perfect for a trip to the beach or summertime get together. These are a few of the growing number of quality American Craft Beers available in cans at your local Bottle King. There is no better time to enjoy a great smoke than on the golf course. Celebrate after a great par, take your mind off that last double-bogey, or just enjoy the course and the summer sun. One rule of thumb when playing 18 is to bring a cigar that will burn as long as possible. Who would want their cigar to burn down by the 5th hole leaving you smokeless for the rest of the afternoon?
