boulderlibrary.org/one-book One Book One Boulder is an annual event that aims to bring the community together through the shared experience of reading and discussing the same book. This year the library has chosen to focus on the climate crisis, selecting the book “All We Can Save: Truth, Courage, and Solutions for the Climate Crisis,” edited by Ayana Elizabeth Johnson and Katharine Wilkinson. From August through early November the library will offer programs, art exhibitions, book circles, and community discussions for all ages. The series will conclude with an online author talk on Thursday, Nov. 4 from 7–8:30 p.m. with the book’s editors. Get involved by: • Reading or listening to the book. • Joining any of the upcoming programs. • Organize your own book circle group.


JAIPUR LITERATURE FESTIVAL (JLF) October 9 and 10, 2021 An uplifting celebration of the mind and heart, featuring conversations with writers from around the world. This free event features performances and workshops for adults, teens, and families. Topics include life, society, the arts, economics, equity, freedom, and the care of our planet. Delight in the joy of connecting with your local and global community and make memories with us for the seventh year running!

BOULDERREADS BOULDERREADS LITERACY for ALL. BoulderReads supports the community with individual adult literacy and language tutoring. EXHIBITIONS “LOVE LETTERS TO THE EARTH / CARTAS DE AMOR A LA TIERRA” Aug. 5–Oct. 3, Canyon Gallery | Opening Reception: Thursday, Aug. 5, 5–7 p.m., Canyon Gallery Multi-media exhibition exploring our reciprocal relationship with the Earth with collaborations between Colorado artists and farmers who are creating food justice and climate-resilient food systems. Presented by the Arbor Institute.

“BIGGER VIEW(S): EARTH, ANTHROPOCENE, BEAUTY” Aug. 5–Oct. 13, Arapahoe Ramp The artists David D’Agostino, Jennifer Lord, and Noah Travis Phillips create multi-centered, parallel simultaneous realities that celebrate nature, disrupt humanities extractive paradigms and anthropocene legacies, and suggest that another world is possible.

“TONICS FOR TRANSFORMATION: AN ECOSOCIAL RESPONSE TO SUSTAIN & SUPPORT DURING WILDFIRE SEASON” Oct. 14–Nov. 14, Canyon Gallery This interactive, socially-engaged show will allow space for the community to process feelings of grief related to wildfires and provide tools for supporting wellness in a rapidly changing ecology.

TEEN VIRTUAL SUMMIT CLIMATE JUSTICE ACTIVIST AND TEEN AUTHOR ALEXANDRIA VILLASEÑOR— AN AUTHOR TALK AND TEEN-LED PANEL Sept. 25 LIVE on YouTube and Facebook Create community by joining the conversation with teen author Alexandria Villaseñor and local teen leaders. Learn about Alexandria’s essay called “A Letter to Adults” which is included in this year’s One Book One Boulder selection “All We Can Save: Truth, Courage, and Solutions for the Climate Crisis,” edited by Ayana Elizabeth Johnson and Katharine Wilkinson. You will have an opportunity to hear about the work Alexandria is doing for climate justice, and we hope you will be inspired to take action, too! PAULA YOO FROM A WHISPER TO A RALLYING CRY: AN AUTHOR TALK AND TEEN-LED PANEL Aug. 14 LIVE on YouTube and Facebook Celebrate a great summer full of reading with author Paula Yoo and teen leaders from the City of Boulder’s youth organizations. Learn about Paula’s most recent book, “From a Whisper to a Rallying Cry: The Killing of Vincent Chin and the Trial that Galvanized the Asian American Movement” by Paula Yoo. We’ll hear from Paula and local teens about why learning and talking about recent and historic racism in our country is important. WORKSHOPS SEED TO TABLE: A series of programs that focus on sustainable living ranging from gardening and cooking to natural remedies and supporting pollinators. For more: boulderlibrary.org/seed-to-table COMMUNITY COOKS: Gather online with us for a monthly virtual dinner party and cooking demo. Every month features a new cook who will share recipes close to their heart and culture. Ingredient lists are released a week prior so you can cook along! BEECHICAS: Learn how to support pollinators, biodiversity and our environment.

POLLINATOR APPRECIATION MONTH September is Pollinator Appreciation Month! It celebrates pollinators and offers educational and hands-on activities to encourage action to support pollinators and our food web, build biodiversity and create a healthier environment for all. THE 7TH ANNUAL BEE BOULDER FESTIVAL Saturday, Sept. 18, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Central Park, 1212 Canyon Blvd, Boulder, CO 80302

An exciting day filled with games, arts, crafts and nature-based activities raising awareness about pollinators. This free event is for all ages and is one of many community wide events during Pollinator Appreciation Month. Get inspired to create positive action to support pollinators and biodiversity.
