NCAR TRAVELING CLIMATE EXHIBIT: REAL PEOPLE, REAL CLIMATE, REAL CHANGES Sept. 28–Nov. 14 at Main–South Lobby Our Earth’s climate is changing, and scientists are working hard to share the stories of communities who are impacted by rising seas, droughts and severe storms. The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) shares real stories.
UNDER- & OVERSTORIES Oct.–Dec. at Meadows NEST (Nature, Environment, Science & Technology) Studio for the Arts presents work at the intersection of science and art.
DESIGN TRAIL Oct. 8–Dec. 15 at Main– Arapahoe Ramp Boulder based artist Parisa Tashakori’s posters and hand made embroideries will be shown on the ramp of the main library. As part of the exhibition, Tashakori has designed an interactive station and invites visitors to play with Persian letters and enjoy the poetic visual sense of the alphabet.
STREET WISE Oct. 11–Dec. 1 at Main–Canyon Gallery ‘Street Wise’ by Leah Brenner Clack, shares culturally inspired street artwork from diverse perspectives reflecting our current social, political, environmental climate. The project includes work inside the gallery as well as outdoor installations and events throughout Boulder.
BUILD A BETTER BOOK: STORIES FOR YOUR SENSES Dec. 6–Feb. 2 at Main–Canyon Gallery Dec. 6–Feb. 2 Satellite exhibition at Meadows The University of Colorado Boulder’s Build a Better Book project works with library makerspaces to engage youth in the design and fabrication of inclusive media for children who are blind or visually impaired. This exhibition features art created through the project, along with the tactile artwork of Ann Cunningham, including several multi-panel stories. THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MUSEUM OF BOULDER Nov. 1–Dec. 14 at Carnegie In celebration of the Museum of Boulder turning 75, a sampling of photographs will be on display. These photographs evoke the depth and breadth of the Museum of Boulder’s holdings.
EXPLORING THE WRITTEN WORD: LETTERS, POSTCARDS AND TELEGRAMS Dec. 17–Jan. 31 at Carnegie In 1974, Stephen King asked the Daily Camera for a job as a film critic. In 1863, Elija Hiatt encouraged his brother Jesse to move to Boulder because cowhands made $30 a month. Artist Georgia O’Keefe thanked Hazel Schmoll for her hospitality at the Rangeview Ranch. These and other interesting tales of the times tell the story of people who visited and lived in Boulder County.

FINDING FEMALE SURNAMES Thursday, Nov. 14, 1–3 p.m. Our female ancestors had little legal standing and, once they married, their individual identity was all but lost. Finding a maiden name can be essential to research on an ancestral line. This class will suggest methods for identifying these names. Presented by: Karlene H. Ferguson, professional genealogist.
HIDING IN PLAIN DATABASES Thursday, Jan. 9, 1–3 p.m. Searching in databases can produce gold mines of information. It can also be frustrating, inefficient and unproductive. BLDG 61 TOOLS & EQUIPMENT The following tools are available during BLDG 61’s scheduled Drop-In events: Lulzbot 3D printers, Othermill CNC machine, vinyl cutter, sewing machines, sergers, embroidery machine, looms, spinning wheels, electronics bench, soldering irons, airbrush, and more depending on availability. The following woodshop tools are available during Shop 61 events: table saw, jointer/planer, drum sander, bandsaw, chop saw, oscillating spindle sander, edge sander, track saw, vacuum press, workbench, clamps, various jigs, and hand tools. The Shopbot CNC Machine and Epilog Laser Cutters are available during their respective tool orientation and guided practice events.
