Osborne Park Bowling Club Welcome Our club, the Osborne Park Bowling Club, is pleased to welcome such a concentration of top quality bowlers to our state and venue. I know I speak for our Members and the Western Australian bowling fraternity when I say we are looking forward to witnessing top class battles on our quality greens. The effort and commitment required of participants, organisers and managers at national, state, and club level
and volunteers is considerable and is appreciated by the Management of the Osborne Park Bowling Club.
Play well, have a great time and strut your stuff.
Special thanks to our Club Manager, Helen Stevens, Special Events Coordinator, Trevor Barron and our greens staff headed by Richard Cox for their exemplary commitment and initiative in preparing our venue for this Side Series. There is little doubt that the bowling community will enjoy being part of the National Over Sixties Championship and so it is that we wish you, the competitors, an enjoyable and exciting time both on and off the green at our Club.
The State Government through the Department of Sport and Recreation and Lotterywest is a major supporter of Bowls in Western Australia. Sport and recreation builds stronger, healthier, happier and safer communities.

HISTORY The inaugural ClearView Senior State Round Robin was held at Sydney’s Gymea Bowls Club in October 2005. Sponsored by ClearView for three years, the men’s only competition was originally established as a competitive outlet for over 60’s bowlers at a time when the average age of state and national representatives was falling. The inaugural championships featured just four sides: Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and ACT, with the Victorian’s upsetting hometown favourites NSW to lift the title. Queensland lifted the trophy in 2006, before going back-to-back in 2007. 2007 also saw the addition of Western Australia and Tasmania to the Senior Sides line-up, but it would be another three years before Northern Territory joined the fight, and it wasn’t until the entry of South Australia in 2012 that the Sides became a truly all-Australian championships.
In 2011 the inaugural women’s Senior State Sides was held at NSW’s Warilla Bowls Club, with QLD, NSW, VIC, ACT, WA and TAS going head-to-head. WA claimed the inaugural title in a close circumstances finishing on equal points with Qld, but claiming the title on rink wins. SA and NT entered the women’s event in 2012 and the event was rebranded the Australia Senior Sides Championships. Unfortunately NT were unable to field a women’s team in 2013 and 2014 but rejoined the competition again in 2015. New South Wales and Queensland have proved the most successful state during the competitions short history with 5 titles, followed by Victoria on 4 wins and Western Australia 2. Which states will add their name to the honor roll in 2016?
