The entire match was video recorded and has been sent to the Guinness World Records headquarters for verification – the previous record was 27hr 59minutes set in February 2018 in New Zealand. After starting at 10am on Sunday morning the record was completed at 4pm Monday afternoon with Shane still playing terrific bowls, he looked great and only really complaining about some sore feet. His played the last hour against his son Hayden and wife Natalie and at the finish he was extremely proud and overwhelmed with the support by everyone involved. The record attempt was done in honor of charity, Shane raising $11,712 for his charity Gotcha 4 Life supporting mental fitness. A large contingent of Manning club mates plus plenty of supporters from the wider bowling community got behind Shane on his attempt. His workplace Plumbing Bros also donated $2 for every toucher and with 502 touchers that was $1,004 added to the total. Another generous donor was well known bowler Dave Rankin who shaved off his long moustache at the event after raising over $2,500 to support Shane. Shane played against 28 separate opponents across the 30 hours with just a 5 minute break allocated for each hour, this was allowed to be banked so he had a few 10-30 minute meal, shower and toilet breaks but not once did he sleep throughout the entire period. He mostly ate banana’s during the matches to keep him going along with plenty of water and energy drinks.
