The Luxury Clothing Handbook F/ W 2013
Celebrating 75 Years of Dressing Philadelphia
75 Years. 3 Generations. 1 Boyds.
F/ W 2013 As we embark on our 75th year in business, it seems like a good time to reflect. In this
modern age of fast and mass everything, it is truly unique for a business to have thrived for 75 years; what is even more unusual is that we are family owned, now in our 3rd generation. In 2013, when most retail stores look the same, at Boyds we work every day at being true
to the simple philosophy on which we were built: one location, with unsurpassed depth and breadth of selection and a commitment to service unattainable anywhere else – customized tailoring, knowledgeable sales associates to ensure a uniquely easy and fun shopping
experience and valet parking. And we would be remiss if we did not credit our loyal customers for making our 75 years so successful.
Thank you, we look forward to the next 75 years!

Obsession for Details
ISAIA is a luxury brand that men with personality and taste gravitate towards. With an obsession for details, each
piece incorporates the essence of sartorial tradition re-
interpreted in a contemporary way. ISAIA offers the complete wardrobe for the modern gentleman. A man who is passionate, sophisticated, and charming in an unconventional way. A
true man. The brand’s core philosophy revolves around the
appreciation of Neapolitan heritage combined with a modern outlook. Its success is due to the ability to reinterpret the concept of history and tradition, and to combine the
ancient sartorial needle-and-thread culture with cutting-edge technology, constantly seeking to innovate its designs.
Standing at the helm of this ever-growing empire of sartorial refinement is Gianluca Isaia, who has brought a sense of
modernity and coolness to the brand. Continuously shuttling between America, Italy, Russia, China and Japan, ISAIA has since become a reflection of Gianluca himself, a man who
splits most of his time between his home in Naples, where family and tradition run deep and New York, the epicenter of a modern lifestyle. Gianluca has found a unique niche
with his contemporary yet traditional garments. High-tech
fabrics and high-fashion designs coupled with the traditional handcrafted tailoring of Neapolitan tradition, and the
world’s most luxurious clothes are just a few of the elements that contribute to the phenomenon that is ISAIA.

Italian Heritage
For the Fall/Winter collection, Brunello Cucinelli reveals
the depth of its Italian heritage. Traveling across Europe,
Brunello Cucinelli looks to reinterpret moods, moving beyond the borders of the Old World in search of new inspiration across different lands.
The harmony between Italian sartorialism and sportswear
provides a foundation for a beautiful collection. Building on this, many prints bring to mind the traditional fabrics used by the master-tailors of Great Britain: houndstooth, Prince of Wales, pied de poule, madras, and windowpane. The color
combinations recall the creative ways that the Japanese style their ensembles: forest greens, wine-dark reds, and indigo
blues blend so perfectly that, at a distance, they appear to be a solid color. Touches of American prep also find their way into the collection with silk ties and bowties.
An Italian artisan approach combines lightweight fabrics and
deconstructed yet well-tailored styles, so easy to wear, they are almost like shirts. Brunello Cucinelli gives men new ways to wear color this fall, with a palette that is as rich and luxurious as the fabrics themselves. Handmade in Solomeo, these garments stand by their “Made in Italy promise,
recalling an old tradition of masterful Italian tailoring,
but now they become modern and wearable with updated fits and youthful styling.

Self-Assured Elegance
Canali is a specialist in tailor-made luxury: a harmony
of details in perfect balance, expertly hand-crafted, each
creation a kind of masterpiece. Proudly 100% “Made in Italy, Canali mingles culture and history with style and taste.
This becomes manifest in perfect wearability - extraordinary comfort combined with sophisticated elements.
The Autumn/Winter 2013 collection is the expression of a
composite but self-assured elegance, in which once strict
codes are now little more than a refined game through which to express the original personality of a man who is both a little retro and a little avant-garde.
The single and double-breasted suits are slim and comfortable, in sophisticated and exclusive fabrics (fine wool, silk
and cashmere) they appear in classic brown, blue and grey,
combined with deep shades of violet, brick and dark red, or the mineral colors of petrol blue, teal and malachite.
24
The Wheel of Creativity
The ETRO Autumn-Winter 2013/2014 collection is barbarous and furious. It conveys an intimate idea about living in
an important time of transition while being aware that we belong to history. Contradictory elements and techniques
ally to construct a world of primordial density. Mythological and
legendary evocations become weightless and fluid. The
most traditional loden fabric is constructed into a kimono silhouette. There are delicate materials like gauze that
offer a softness to the collection. There is a study within the collection that discovers certain techniques that are shared by cultures as far apart as those of the Himalayas
and Ireland. The broad lapels of coats are egg-shaped and the trousers are slim for running, to keep up with the sense of impermanence that gives us stability.
Etro is The New Tradition, the sum of artisan know-how and
creative experimentation. The entrepreneurial venture began in 1968, when Gimmo Etro launched a production of highly prestigious fabrics. He only utilized the most noble and
natural fibers and embellished them with original designs and innovative colors. The original materials, techniques, and prints are the ideals of ETRO that keep it unprecedented.

The Santoni Tradition
Every Santoni shoe is crafted in the tradition of the finest Italian artisans who carefully select and color the best
hand-picked leather and skins. Each design is meticulously
developed meeting demanding standards of aesthetics, style,
comfort, and sophistication. Always colored and burnished by hand, artisans craft tones inspired by the nuances of nature from warm desert sands to the richest browns. Santoni shoes are constructed using washed calf leather whitened through
a natural tanning process and Nubuck leathers that are made
sumptuous and smooth without chemicals. Every creation, from classic to relaxed, and the sporty club style represents
authentic Italian craftsmanship and the Santoni tradition.

“Businessmen need to be stable and secure in what they wear so that they can perform at their best,” says Sebastian
Dollinger, Eton’s Head of Design. “Good design is when you
look at something a second time and details start to emerge— when you find something in a garment that makes you love it even more.”

The Ferragamo Man
For Fall/Winter 2013, Massimiliano Giornetti revealed two sides of the Ferragamo man. Weaving together the need for functionality with the desire for luxury and exclusivity,
Giornetti created a collection that was perfected for coat season. Redefining outerwear for the modern man through experimentation and innovation, Giornetti played with
layers of leather, cashmere and shearling in each garment. Highlights included a rubberized leather coat and options
that are completely reversible. For accessories, Giornetti
modernized the classic derby and the ankle boot by creating
a multi-layered rubber sole with maximum traction, balancing functionality with a serious tough-luxury message.

Pinnacle of American Tailoring
The Temple. That’s what everyone calls it: the Temple to
Fine Tailoring. Two young entrepreneurs named Jacob Freeman and Jeremiah Hickey built it in the early years of the 20th century in Rochester, NY. Their plan was to bring high-
quality hand-tailoring to men from coast to coast. As they envisioned it, a Hickey Freeman suit would be a testament
to both the delicate artistry of hand-craftsmanship and the steady consistency of modern technology.Their idea turned into an epic American success story. Men of style and
achievement have, for generation after generation, turned
to Hickey Freeman for authenticity and quality, elegance and innovation. They still do.
Tailors from around the world gather in Rochester’s sartorial sanctuary to set sleeves and stitch collars and roll lapels. Each tailor has a different specialty, but they all share a
common goal: to create suits that represent the very pinnacle of American tailoring. Elegant fabrics have been washed in
the mountain streams of the Biella region of Northern Italy, which has given them an exquisite softness. The Hickey
Freeman team stays in close contact with the most prestigious weavers in Italy and the United Kingdom, working with these mills to make sure that all fabrics are developed to Hickey
Freeman’s exclusive and exacting specifications. Think of it
as sartorial mastery matched with high-tech ingenuity: Hickey Freeman suits are cut using today’s state-of-the-art methods, and yet they uphold the standards of the world’s most revered bespoke tailors.

the search for a high quality product that through the years has achieved a leading role in the field of men’s clothing, both on an Italian and an international level.
Ravazzolo not only creates suits, jackets, trousers, and
overcoats of high quality tailoring, but is also recognized by the market as a prestigious, high fashion proposal.
Expertly tailored Made-to-Measure Ravazzolo jackets and

more sensitive to elegance and style. RAVAZZOLO maintains a constant presence in the wardrobe of men dressed with elegance and style.

New Vision
It began in 1950, when Robert Talbott packed his family
into a Ford station wagon and left a successful Wall Street career for the pristine splendor of California’s Central
Coast; starting a new life in the magical town of Carmel. There, the entrepreneurial spirit took hold when his wife
Audrey’s talent for hand sewing colorful bowties sparked a
business idea in Robert’s mind, giving birth to the classic American brand we know today as Robert Talbott. The company flourished as the exclusive line of fine neckwear expanded over the ensuing decades into shirts, jackets, sportswear, accessories, and women’s wear.
Welcome to the next chapter - the most inspired Robert
Talbott collection yet. The brand found inspiration in the
natural beauty of the Monterey Peninsula, from a day of golf at Pebble Beach to the dramatic coastline dotted with iconic locales. Incorporating the finest fabrics with exclusive
patterns and design, the result is a collection that crafts a new vision while remaining true to the Robert Talbott values.
