DAVID W. LIPPITT Pittsford, New York Seneca Waterways Council Rochester, New York
David says his proudest achievement in more than four decades of Scouting was the construction of a longhouse-style building in the Native American Village of his council’s Cub Scout Adventure Camp. THOMAS W. LUSK, PH.D. McDonald, Pennsylvania Laurel Highlands Council Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Two achievements in Tom’s more than 20 years as an adult Scouter stand out most to him. The first, on a personal level, was watching the development of his son, William, an Eagle Scout, into “the father and husband that he is.” The second came when Tom, a principal for business consulting firm Second Peak, saw the unwavering focus of the Penn’s Woods and Greater Pittsburgh councils on the best interests of their youth when the two councils merged in 2010–2011. As a youth, Tom attended the 1973 National Scout Jamboree, went to Philmont Scout Ranch, and earned the Allegheny Trails Council Boot and Paddle Award on his way to becoming a Star Scout. He has also received the Silver Beaver Award and completed his Wood Badge. Tom, who has served as a member of the National Council and as Area 4 president, council liaison, and chartered organization committee chair, is currently on the Northeast Region Executive Board. He has served the Penn’s Woods Council as president, vice president of membership, assistant council commissioner, and executive board member. For the Laurel Highlands Council, Tom served as budget chair and on the executive board. He has also served as a Venturing Advisor and Webelos leader for Pack 217. Tom now serves as president of the Southwestern chapter of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. He is cofounder and past president of the Cambria County Habitat for Humanity, and he has volunteered with the nonprofit Cambria County Community Action Partnership, which oversees Head Start and WIC programs. Tom and his wife, Lucy, live in McDonald, where they attend St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
