POSTION SUMMARY:
The Student Success Officer (SSO) is an important member of the Black Professional Organization Charitable Foundation (BPACF) staff and is responsible for program management of our signature Emerging Professionals programs for youth and college students This includes: BPACF Scholars Program, Career Connect Internship Program, and the College-to-Career Series
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Program Planning and Implementation
• Implement, enhance and/or develop program elements (with associated resources, i.e. curriculum, policies, etc.) associated with Emerging Professionals programs
• Manage the day-to-day functionsofthe programs and services
• Develop/Cultivate strong, productive relationship with the schools/collaborative partners through which BPACF’s programs and services are delivered.
• Provide regular communication to the Executive Director and Partners, (if applicable), regarding programmatic services and activities.
• Understand program logic models and theories of change.
Program Operations & Administration
• Execute a plan of action for each area of service for Emerging Professionals programming.
• Provide college and career access advising/coaching, financial aid counseling/coaching, and supportive services for students where appropriate.
• Ensure accurate tracking of services and adhere to strict confidentiality in student record keeping and compliance with the application process and participant agreements
• Track and monitor the budget for the designated program areas, including the monitoring and overseeing of expenses ensuring that expenditures and accountability adhere to the highest standards of fiscal integrity. Work with vendors and contractors to produce high quality events.
• Work within each partner’s unique environment to best serve students while meeting BPACF’s expectations.
Marketing & Outreach
• Promote BPACF’s programs and services within the designated local community, including the school district, higher education and other community partners.
• Seek, recognize, and utilize opportunities to promote BPACF’s services through community outreach. Identify technical assistance opportunities
• Serve as a student advocate through communication with colleges and universities, communication with parents, collaboration with schools, and communication and cooperation with outside scholarship programs.
• Formulate and manage a community outreach plan to educate the local community on college readiness, access, and persistence to completion issues.
Program Evaluation and Compliance
• Support formative evaluation efforts and implement mid-course corrections (administering data collection tools, updating student database, etc.).
• Monitor performance and compliance tracking.
• Assist with written reports (drafting, editing) and site-visits.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Student Personnel, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum five years of experience working in the field of student support services or related area. Professional experience must include working with adolescents/young adult. Experience in non-profit work environment, marketing, program, and resource development. Ability to partner with agencies and institutions of higher learning. Familiarity with first generation student population is highly desirable.
Experience working in a team environment with a collaborative focus. Strategic thinking and proactive decision making highly valued. Must have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, and experience in marketing educational services to targeted populations. Must also be knowledgeable of financial aid process, regulations, and compliance. Experience with academic, career planning and educational/career opportunities, and assessment tools. Evidence of skills and ability to utilize technology.
