A Note from the Composer! ! !!!!!!!!!The!memories!of!our!past!are!always!changing.!They!can!become! distorted,!so!much!so!that!they!barely!resemble!reality.!!As!we!move! through!time,!our!relationship!to!the!past!changes!as!well.!What!may! have!been!a!terrible!experience!in!the!past!can!become!a!fond!memory! in!the!future,!and!vise!versa.!Frames!is!a!musical!exploration!of!this! experience.! ! !!!!!!!!!For!this!piece!I!decided!to!create!“musical!frames.�!!The! opening!material!presents!two!pitch!sets!in!their!pure!form!bordered! by!a!bass!drum!to!create!the!first!frame.!These!pitch!sets!can!then!be! heard!throughout!the!work!within!new!frames.!The!frames!evolve,! distort,!and!eventually!take!on!new!characters.! ! ! !!!!!!!!!! ! ! ! ! ! ! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!B!Brian!Petuch! !!!!!!!!!!!!! ! ! ! ! ! ! !!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!2014!
