Frames - Arranged for Latitude 49

Page 1

A Note from the Composer The memories of our past are always changing. They can become distorted, so much so that they barely resemble reality. As we move through time, our relationship to the past changes as well. What may have been a terrible experience in the past can become a fond memory in the future, and vise versa. Frames is a musical exploration of this experience. For this piece I decided to create “musical frames. The opening material presents two pitch sets in their pure form bordered by a bass drum to create the first frame. These pitch sets can then be heard throughout the work within new frames. The frames evolve, distort, and eventually take on new characters. - Brian Petuch 2014
