Peter Gabriel Reflections Iconic Photographs in Bath by Clive Arrowsmith (1978) Coming to MoBA December 2018 International celebrated photographer

Clive Arrowsmith

We are thrilled to be able to present these photographs by Clive Arrowsmith who is famous for his work with Vogue and his images of David Bowie, Sir Paul McCartney, Dame Judy Dench, Prince Charles, Michael Caine, Kate Bush and the Dalai Lama amongst others. In 1978 Clive Arrowsmith photographed Peter Gabriel in a number of key locations around Bath. Gabriel had recently left the band Genesis to start a solo career. Clive first photographed Peter Gabriel for Vogue in the early 70s when he was still with Genesis and this will be the first time these images have been on show. The Bath images were their second shoot together and followed the success of Gabriel’s seminal hit Solsbury Hill. Many of these images are close up portraits so we will exhibit alongside them new pictures of the Bath setting where they were taken. There will also be associated events including workshops, talks plus Clive will be running a very special live Photobooth where museum visitors can have their portrait taken by him; one of the most influential portrait photographers of today. We are able to present you with a fantastic opportunity to promote your business and be associated with such a renowned name who has been right at the heart of the music and fashion industries for the past 40 years. And these dramatic images of Peter Gabriel will make a perfect backdrop to entertain your guests. We can offer corporate hospitality as part of any sponsorship package so please join us on this high profile exhibition.

Your sponsorship helps us ensure the future of our museums The Museum of Bath Architecture is housed in the Countess of Huntingdon’s Chapel, built in 1765 for Selina Hastings, Countess of Huntingdon. Itself a fascinating building, the chapel now houses a unique museum exploring the rich architectural history of Bath and its transformation from a medieval walled provincial town into a world famous Georgian city. The Museum also houses the Bath Preservation Trust's archives, reference library and the office of its campaigning team. All of which are accessible to the public. Beckford’s Tower was built in 1827 for William Beckford (1760-1844). It is Tower is now home to a museum collection displaying furniture originally made for the Tower, alongside paintings, prints and objects illustrating William Beckford’s life as a writer, collector and patron of the arts. Visitors can follow in Beckford’s footsteps and climb the spiral staircase (pictured) to the beautifully restored Belvedere and experience the spectacular panoramic views of Bath. The Herschel Museum of Astronomy is dedicated to the many achievements of William and Caroline Herschel, who were distinguished astronomers as well as talented musicians. 19 New King Street is where William Herschel discovered the planet Uranus in March 1781. What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Herschel was a self-taught amateur astronomer, who built his own telescopes at home. sible to the public.

No.1 Royal Crescent was designed by John Wood the Younger in 1767 and the first house to be built in the Royal Crescent. It reveals what life was like for Bath’s fashionable residents in the late 18th Century - both upstairs and downstairs
