Golden Compass Award Winner for April!
Jennifer Stratton Executive Director for Career Services & Workforce Insights
Nominated by:
James Van Zetten, Director of Experiential Learning & Workforce
I am writing to wholeheartedly nominate Jennifer Stratton for the Golden Compass Award at Bay Path University. In her capacity as the new Executive Director of the Sullivan Career and Life Planning Center, Jen has consistently exemplified the core values that define and distinguish our institution. Her dedication to our learners, commitment to diversity and equity, pursuit of excellence, and unwavering support for health and wellbeing not only mirror these principles but also elevate our collective mission.
Jen's student-centered approach ensures that all learners have equitable access to our services regardless of modality, location, age, or other factors. This dedication aligns seamlessly with our core value that " our learners come first." Her innovative strategies, including the incorporation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) best practices and the exploration of new methodologies, underscore our commitments to innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement.
Furthermore, Jen's efforts to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging are evident in her initiative to start every meeting with a breathing exercise, promoting mindfulness and well-being among staff and students alike. This practice not only enhances our work environment but also deeply resonates with our pledge towards health and wellbeing.
Her collaborative spirit is another facet of her leadership that merits recognition. By working closely with our team and various university partners to craft a bold new vision statement for the SCLP, Jen has exemplified the value we place on community collaboration. Her endeavors to engage departments across campus in meaningful dialogues further exemplify her commitment to this principle.
Additionally, Jen's interpersonal skills are commendable as she endeavors to understand the unique stories and strengths of each individual she interacts with. Sending a brief survey before meetings to better know her colleagues and partners is a testament to her respect and compassion towards others, fostering an environment where every voice is heard and valued.
Her passion and motivation are indeed contagious. Jen has not only invigorated our team but also played a pivotal role in creating a more dynamic, inclusive, and supportive university community. Her actions and leadership significantly contribute to our collective efforts to make Bay Path University a beacon of diversity, equity, innovation, and excellence.
In light of the above, I firmly believe that Dr. Jennifer Stratton is an exemplary candidate for the Golden Compass Award. Her contributions profoundly embody and further the core values of Bay Path University, making her not only a deserving recipient but also a model for others in our community.
