FORWARD THINKING ARCHITECTURE STUDENT AND LEADER INTERESTED IN DEVELOPING INNOVATIVE AND COLLABORATIVE SPACES

+ about me I am currently a junior at the University of Illinois studying architecture. I am fascinated by community structures such as schools, park district facilities, libraries and sports arenas because of their ability to create useful spaces for individuals and groups to collaborate and innovate. My background in detailed planning for multi-faceted campus events has further developed my interest in architectural eorts for the improvement of community-based institutions.

HABITABLE WALL-- THE PAVILION PROJECT Model Building + Laser Cutting + AutoCAD Architecture

Beginning with the organization of volumetric spaces and a structural post-and-beam layout my task was to create a pavilion that upholds the various space sizes as listed by the professor. My design, located in the depths of a national park provides spaces for meditation and movement. A focus was also put on private and public feelings of the visitors as well as engaging the surroundings.

SOLAR CITY HOUSE AutoCAD Architecture + Model Building + 3D Printing

Sitting within a 120’ x 25’ City of Chicago lot is the Solar City House, included are 3 bedrooms a kitchen, living room, and an accessible green roof. This project taught me an understanding about making a space livable that is just wider than two people laying down head to toe. AutoCAD was the main tool of the project as well as multiple hours building a physical model. I was able to use our 3D printer to create fine details such as the windows and spiral staircase leading to the Green roof. Future plans call for a garage and studio space out back.

LEAF

the CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS Revit + AutoCAD Architecture + Model Building + Laser Cutting

Set into the woods at Kickapoo State park directly o of Clear Pond, the LEAF, Center for the Performing Arts, takes inspiration from fallen leaves seen during a site visit. This project allowed for an in-depth design of altering topography as well as a performance center for the handicapped. It was important to include natural materials, green design features as well as outdoor performance spaces into the project.

COLLABORATION

THE INNOVATION HUB Rhino + AutoCAD Architecture + Model Building

“WHAT IS A LIBRARY IN THIS AGE AND INTO THE FUTURE? This question resonated within me as i took the first steps in developing a building that could serve both as an educational center but also serve for the development of creation and design. The Innovation hub is a portal, hub, studio, and center for the education, design, and development of the ideas of the next generation. This forward thinking library looks to create a center for the mixing of ideas and inventions that develop current and future generations to think collectivity and deeply designed with the idea of the power of puzzles to combine multiple diverse pieces to create a work of art, the innovation hub creates multiple atmospheres both open and private in which individuals, groups or strangers can interact and develop and create. My hope was to bring the neighborhood of diverse age ranges and education levels together as a driven society and collaborative group. The use of light fractures and large communal volumes create a feeling of open communication and forward moving ideas. Paralleling the idea of creating new ideas and inventions within, i have included new and interactive technologies that change the idea of a library as a quiet and solid structure to a living and growing structure.
