“Love at
First Sight” (2023)
Love goes international with the new rom-com “Love at First Sight,” when it premieres Friday, Sept. 15, on Netflix. After missing her flight from New York to London, Hadley’s (Haley Lu Richardson, “The White Lotus”) plans are put on hold while she finds a new flight. When a chance encounter in the airport with Oliver (Ben Hardy, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” 2018) leads to a long night on a plane together that passes in the blink of an eye, the pair are left wondering if love at first sight can really happen. When the pair are separated in the chaos of Heathrow Airport, they’ll have to try everything they can to make their way back to each other. Based on the novel “The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight” by Jennifer E. Smith, “Love at First Sight” is directed by Vanessa Caswill (“Thirteen”) with a screenplay by Katie Lovejoy (“To All the Boys: Always and Forever,” 2021). Narrated by Jameela Jamil (“The Good Place”), the film’s cast is rounded out by Dexter Fletcher (“Ghosted,” 2023), Rob Delaney (“Catastrophe”), Jessica Ransom (“Doc Martin”), Tom Taylor (“The Dark Tower,” 2017), Tracy Wiles (“The Catch”), Ibinabo Jack (“Vera”) and Anastasia Zabarchuk (“Silo”).
“Wrestlers”
- Season 1
Follow along with a mission to preserve a legacy in the new docuseries “Wrestlers,” premiering Wednesday, Sept. 13, on Netflix. Run by acclaimed wrestler Al Snow, who clings to an old school wrestling philosophy with a heavy emphasis on storytelling, Ohio Valley Wrestling of Louisville, Kentucky, is a regional wrestling gym whose alumni include Brock Lesnar, The Miz, John Cena, Dave Bautista and Randy Orton. But despite its A-list alumni and the love of some diehard fans, the gym is struggling to stay relevant and keep its doors open. Forced to sell a majority stake to a group of local businessmen — including Matt Jones, the most popular radio personality in the state of Kentucky — the gym’s new infusion of much-needed cash hasn’t been enough to get the gym back up and running in the black. With the new ownership giving Al the summer to turn things back around, the series chronicles his efforts, along with the help of his band of aspiring wrestlers, as they balance their personal struggles and ambitions while coming together to save the historic gym. The series comes from director Greg Whiteley (“Last Chance U”) and BBC Studios Los Angeles.
