WinterFest activities abound throughout Crosslake Events set Jan. 30-Feb. 1 Bring the whole family to participate in oldfashioned winter fun at the 17th annual Crosslake WinterFest, scheduled Thursday-Saturday, Jan. 30-Feb. 1, throughout Crosslake. The fun begins Thursday, Jan. 30, when the first of three daily clues will be released to guide treasure seekers to the WinterFest Lost Medallion. Find it and cash in on a prize basket valued at hundreds courtesy of Crosslake Chamber member businesses. Friday evening, Jan. 31, will be a time for outdoor activities at the Crosslake Community Center, including ice skating, sledding, horsedrawn sleigh rides and a fireworks display. Start your Saturday morning, Feb. 1, at the Crosslake firefighters’ pancake breakfast before taking part in the day’s activities that will include a spinning ice carousel, bocce ball tournament, pond hockey tournament, helicopter rides, radar runs, bar bingo, Italian Olympics, kids games, shopping, food and drink specials all over town plus the 17th annual SoupFest. Following is a schedule of events:

► 9 a.m.: Find the Lost Medallion. The first of three daily clues will be released at local merchants, on the
Crosslake App and at crosslake.com. Find the Lost Medallion and cash in on a prize package valued at more than $1,000 courtesy of Chamber member businesses.
► 8 p.m.: Trivia at Moonlite Bay Family Restaurant. ► 10:30 p.m.-2 a.m.: Music by DJs JP & Dana at Moonlite Bay Family Restaurant & Bar.

SATURDAY, FEB. 1
► 9 a.m.: Find the Lost Medallion. The second of three daily clues will be released. ► 3:30-5:30 p.m.: Cabin Fever Carnival and open enrollment at Crosslake Community School, featuring kids games, bake walk, food and fun. Meet Bobber the Water Safety Dog. ► 6:30 p.m.: Meat raffle at the Crosslake-Fifty Lakes American Legion. ► 7-9 p.m.: Celebrate WinterFest at the Crosslake Community Center. Bring skates and sleds for ice skating and a snow mountain. Other events include a bonfire and s’mores, horse-drawn sleigh rides, Crosslake fire trucks on display, games, warming house, hot apple cider, free chili compliments of Crosslake Lutheran Church, and music with DJ “JP.” WinterFest gear including sweatshirts, beer koozies and wristbands will be on sale. ► 9 p.m.: WinterFest fireworks by Flashing Thunder behind the Crosslake Community Center. ► 7 p.m.-1 a.m.: Music by DJ Mike at Andy’s Bar & Grill.

Prizes of Coast Guard approved life jackets will be award to the four age group winners. Entries must be completed and submitted by Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at 11 AM to the park Office.

SoupFest sites The 17th annual SoupFest will feature Crosslake Chamber member businesses simmering kettles of their fabulous soup recipes that the public gets to taste and then cast votes to determine which is worthy of the highly coveted Golden Ladles. Trophies will be given for People’s Culinary Choice (restaurant), People’s Amateur Choice (non-restaurant) and Overall Judges’ Choice. Radio personalities Dave Wonders (The Pulse), Ben Abery (R&J Radio) and Bill Satre (Hubbard Broadcasting) will be this year’s official SoupFest judges for the best soup among all the entries regardless of category. Free tasting will begin at noon Saturday, Feb. 1, and ballots will be tallied at 3 p.m. Vote for your favorites on your mobile phone using the free Crosslake App, or find paper ballots at all Jack Frost level sponsors. SoupFest winners will be announced at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1. The first of three daily clues to lead people to the Lost Medallion will be released at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at Crosslake Chamber member businesses and online at www.crosslake.com. The second clue will be released at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, and the final clue at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1. The winner should bring the medallion to Lake Country Crafts & Cones to receive a prize basket of products and services donated by Crosslake Chamber member businesses.

The Crosslake Fire Department will host its annual pancake breakfast from 8-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Crosslake Lutheran Church, 35960 County Road 66. Breakfast will include scrambled eggs, sausage, juice, coffee and pancakes. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 10. Proceeds are used to buy firefighting equipment.

Everyone is welcome to participate. There are four age categories: 5 and under, 6-9, 10-14 and 15 plus One entry per artist. Entries must be completed and submitted by Saturday, February 1st at 11AM. Late submissions will still go on display but may not be eligible for voting. • Turn in completed coloring to the park office of the: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Cross Lake Recreation Area 35507 County Road 66; PO Box 36 Crosslake, MN 56442 • Winner need not be present to win.
VOTING:
• Voting will take place on Saturday, February 1st during the Soup cook off from 12 noon to 3pm. • One vote per person and counts towards final selection. • Voting will close at 3:00pm • Prize for winners of the four age categories: US Coast Guard Approved Life Jacket.
