Crosslake Days on tap Sept. 23-25 Celebrate the fall season at the 34th annual Crosslake Days fall festival Thursday-Sunday, Sept. 23-25, throughout Crosslake. Hosted by the Crosslake Chamber of Commerce, this event boasts a weekend of family fun with activities for all ages. Favorite events return, including arts and crafts fairs, Lost Chili Pepper Hunt, Cider & Candlelight Tour at the Historic Log Village, Knights of Columbus Corn Hole Tournament at Crosslake Ace Hardware, pickleball tournament at the Crosslake Community Center courts and the chili cookoff at participating businesses. New events include the Crosslake Cares Power of Aging Senior Expo at the Crosslake Log Church and a street dance at Crosslake Ace Hardware. The annual Crosslake Days Chili Cookoff returns Saturday, Sept. 25, when chili samples will be served for free at 25 participating Crosslake businesses from noon to 3 p.m., or until gone. For more than 30 years, Crosslake businesses have been mixing up their special blends for a shot at the title. The judges are selfproclaimed culinary enthusiasts, and while they determine who wins the Crosslake Days Chili Cookoff title, the People’s Choice award is determined by hundreds of samplers. Download the Crosslake app to your mobile device and vote for your favorite chili to help determine the People’s Choice winner for 2021. The app is free to download on your smartphone and is a year-round resource for anyone to find businesses, services and information on events taking place in Crosslake. Find the Lost Chili Pepper for

BIG PRIZES Round up the family and head outside to search for the Crosslake Days Lost Chili Pepper. One of three clues will be released daily at 9 a.m. to guide searchers to its location. The first clue will be released Thursday, Sept. 23, with the second clue Friday, Sept. 24, and the third clue Saturday, Sept. 25. Find clues at crosslake.com, the Crosslake app, Crosslake Chamber member businesses and at the Crosslake Chamber Welcome Center. The chili pepper will be outside somewhere within the Crosslake city limits - laying, hanging, dangling or sitting somewhere. It won’t be on private residential property, and no destruction or demolition is necessary to find the pepper. If searching on commercial property, let the business owner know you would like access to their property to look for it. Be respectful! Find the pepper, bring it to Lake Country Crafts & Cones (36084 County Road 66) and cash in on a prize basket courtesy of Crosslake Chamber member businesses valued at more than $1,800. Paul Douglas to speak at Power of Aging Expo Crosslake Cares will host the 2021 Power of Aging Expo from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Crosslake Log Church, featuring former WCCO-TV meteorologist Paul Douglas as the keynote speaker. Crosslake Cares connects seniors to services that improve their lives. Douglas’ appearance is sponsored by Whitefish at the Lakes Senior Living. The event will include mini-talks.

Corn hole tournament offers two categories of players

Step back in time at Historic Log Village

The Crosslake Historic Log Village will be the site of the annual Cider and Candlelight Tour from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the 1900s village at night, lit by lanterns and candles as in a century ago. Buildings will be heated with wood fires if it is cool. Costumed volunteers will provide tours of the historic buildings. There is no admission charged for this event, but donations are requested to help maintain the Historic Log Village. Located 1.4 miles WEST of CR #66 on CR #16 at the Cross Lake Rush Lake Channel

The second annual Crosslake Knights of Columbus Cornhole Tournament will take place Saturday, Sept. 25, at Ace Hardware. This year’s tournament will have two categories: ► Family and Friends: a noncompetitive social event of family members and/or friends. A bucket of prizes will be awarded for first, second and consolation winners.

► Champions: a competitive spirit bracket with prizes of $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place and $250 for consolation. The tournament will feature 16 games, with 32 teams in each category. Each team is guaranteed two games. All scoring will be standard rules from the Cornhole Association. Family and Friends will play from 10-11:30 a.m. with check-in

at 9 a.m. Entry fee is $20 per team. Champions will play from noon to 3 p.m. with check-in at 11 a.m. Entry fee is $75 per team. “Holy Smokes” pork chops, brats and hot dogs will be available for purchase with proceeds donated to the many charities the Knights of Columbus of Crosslake/Emily supports.
