The judges are self-proclaimed culinary enthusiasts, and while they determine who wins the Crosslake Days Chili Cookoff title, the People’s Choice award is determined by hundreds of samplers.

Three daily clues will be released for big prizes

The hoot, the tremolo, the yodel and the wail are four of the most well-known calls of the common loon that people hear on northern lakes in the summer.

To register for the contest, stop at the National Loon Center’s information center at Crosslake Town Square, The Nest, from 1-3 p.m. the day of theJudgesevent.will include National Loon Center staff. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the two age groups.

There will be two age groups: adult/teenager (ages 13-plus) and youth (ages 12 and under).

At 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, the loon center and the Whitefish Area Property Owners

The loon center will host a wildlife art silent auction

from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 24 at The Nest. Participants will have the option to place bids throughout the day and return at 4 p.m. when winners are announced or “buy Now” to take the piece home immediately.

Proceeds from the silent auction will support the National Loon Center’s education and conservation initiatives.

CROSSLAKE — The Knights of Columbus of Crosslake and Emily will host a cornhole tournament Saturday, Sept. 24, during Crosslake Days.

The champion level will play from 10 a.m. to noon with check in by 9:30 a.m. This is a competitive spirit

Cornhole tournament returns Sept. 24

A competitor at the second annual Knights of Columbus cornhole tournament last year lobbed his bag at the 2021 Crosslake Days celebration.

All net proceeds will be donated to the Knights of Columbus charitable organizations.Thetournament will feature six games with 32 teams in each category. Teams are guaranteed two games.

There will be “open mic” on the deck of the Town Hall led by Kale Jones from Emily. Individuals will be encouraged to sing a song, tell a story or joke, or play an instrument.Thereisno admission charged for this event, but donations are requested to help maintain the Historic Log Village.
