Celebration
The’ Wara Art Festival’ which takes place in Uwasekigata Park in Japan, annually is a festival which first took place in 2OO8 where students from the Musashinino Art University and a few local volunteers were asked by the local authorities to mould rice straws and sculptures of animals like Dinosaurs, Crabs and Gorillas and other fantastic abstract creatures from discarded rice straws. The festival celebrated its 1Oth anniversary in 2O18 where students created sculptures twice in size which captured the attention of travelers across the globe. Apart from these magnificent structures, the festival also has live performances by musicians and pop up stalls to satiate your hunger. The weather is extremely pleasant and you can aimlessly stroll around the park.
The rice straws used for making the giant structures are harvested by hand.
