Who Are We? Black Professional Men, Inc. (BPM) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization based in Baltimore, Md. and established in 1991 to address the social, economic and political awareness needs of the African-American community, especially those of the AfricanAmerican male. Our members dedicate many hours to public service each year to accomplish BPM's objectives and goals. BPM's membership includes over 40 dedicated men who come from a variety of professions, including barbers, attorneys, teachers, engineers, architects, financial advisors, councilmembers, and entrepreneurs.
Youth Development Committee (YDC) This committee is focused on implementing youth based programs and partnerships in support of the mission of BPM. We strive to create programs and partnerships (i.e., with Schools, Business, Professional / Civic Organizations, Fraternities, and the General Public) that target, build, and promote the youth in our community. The YDC has several initiatives and we want you and your organization to be an integral part of the future success stories that are written at BPM. Together, we will made a mark on the lives of the youth in our community. We hope you will join us as we continue to “light the torch” and inspire our youth to greatness throughout this exciting year.
Community Relations Committee (CRC) This committee has one sole purpose and that is “to ensure the future of the African-American Male.” We do this by intentionally engaging the community and identifying ways that we can impact this vital entity through our service, initiatives, and programs. The Community Relations Committee is focused on three main vertical areas in the Greater Baltimore area and they are homeless, domestic violence survivors, and our seniors. Utilizing the NASCAR “plug and play” concept our goal is to also partner with like-minded organizations that are already doing a great work in the community with the central focus of making an immediate impact. In addition, the CRC will create solution-based community programs to augment the mission of BPM. Moreover, we utilize the SMART tools and efficient processes that target, build, and promote relationship within our community that make a mark that cannot be erased.
Economic Development Committee This committee has a mission to expose our community to opportunities, techniques, and tools to enhance their economic resources. The understanding of economic resources is the difference in controlling the unlimited opportunities that impact the future to being limited to opportunities that provide little options for financial freedom.
Health & Family Matters Committee This committee is committed to increasing the awareness of health and wellness among the families within our community through partnerships with organizations within the health industry. We invite you to contact our committee to get more information about how you can get more involved in our health initiatives.
College Development Committee This committee provides financial assistance and direction to African-American male students that have consistently demonstrated exceptional character and academic performance. In addition, our programs seek students who participate in school or community activities and exhibit strong leadership and communication skills. Each year, during the Rays of Hope Scholarship Breakfast the Saturday before Father's Day, BPM awards a group of deserving young men scholarships for college. BPM has awarded nearly $200,000 to these Scholars. The amount of $1,000 shall be awarded to each

Black Professional Men - Youth Development Committee Overview The Black Professional Men (BPM), Inc. Youth Development Committee is one of the committee’s that support the mission of BPM. We strive to create programs and partnerships (i.e., with Schools, Businesses, Professional / Civic Organizations, Fraternities, and the General Public) that target, build, and promote the youth in our community. In 2016, the YDC created a group mentoring approach that will allow mentoring based youth programs, and youth organizations to leverage each other’s resources to further the opportunities our children can secure. Structure of the YDC and Programs The YDC utilizes the standard BPM Committee framework to support how it is structured and that includes the following: ▪ Chairman ▪ Project Manager (PM) ▪ Program Manager (PM) ▪ Team Members (TM) The role of the Program Manager is to manage each program that the committee engages in, while remaining focused on the purpose and intent of the program. Each Program Manager (PM) assigns projects to the Project Manager who along with his team, implements the solution-based project that is designed to meet a need and/or solve a problem. School Based Programs • Financial Literacy - BPM has a dynamic partnership with Operation HOPE Inc. which offers the Banking On Our Future (BOOF) initiative. The reality is that economic parity and the ability to compete financially; both at home and abroad on a global scale; are the building blocks of financial literacy. The BOOF program serves as the rungs of a ladder in preparing students for their financial future. • Youth Certification I & II - Program designed to create a culture of awareness, confidence, and leadership in our young African American males as they enter manhood by teaching them success principles that extend far beyond the classroom. • African American History – Program designed to introduce to children the rich and thriving history of the great continent of Africa. It’s designed to give them something to be proud of about their past, let them know it was in Africa where math, science, and religion began and also to inform them that their history did not start with slavery but with the great dynasties in Egypt and the long history of Ethiopia. • STEM - Our STEM program delivers: hands-on/inquiry-based K-12 curriculum that is aligned to the National Math, Science, and Technology standards. • Reading Partners - Mobilizes communities to provide students with the proven, individualized reading support they need to read at a 4th grade level. • Pathways to College (PTC) - A new and innovative web-based program that is aimed for 6th graders but can impact students of all grades and their parents & educators. PTC guides students down the best path to reach their academic goals. In addition, it provides the ability to track students, teacher, mentor, and school progress in real-time while indicating troubling areas and highlighting where to apply corrective actions. Community Based Programs BPM believes it takes a community to raise a child just as it did 20 years ago. Today, BPM has partnered with several likeminded organizations to bring a series of youth development seminars to the youth within our community. Standard Topics Parent Resource Night – 4th Tuesday 6pm Touchpoint Mondawmin | 2401 Liberty Heights Avenue | #suite 2730 | Baltimore, MD 21215 Community Events – BPM is seeking 40 community-based organizations to hold an annual community event.
