June 1 – September 8, 2020 Ages 0-12 years Brampton Brain Game presents a series of online challenges that are designed to encourage children to read, learn through play, and virtually explore their community: Read. Play. Explore. Participants will love the opportunity to win a variety of exciting prizes! Register by July 8 to be entered into our early bird draw for a bike generously donated by the Sustainable Transportation Division at the Region of Peel!

BumbleBee Watch 6-12 years

Discover the diversity of native bees! Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) is hosting a virtual program about differentiating bees from wasps and identifying common bumble bees in the Greater Toronto Area. This program is recommended for families with children ages 6 and up.

Featuring special dry ice that doesn’t melt, this spectacular Fire and Ice Show is sure to dazzle and mesmerize. Learn about the properties of dry ice as we demonstrate a foggy dry ice storm, a shivering coin dance, screaming sizzling scissors, and the BIG BURP. Then we’ll heat things up with indoor fireworks, disappearing fire, Eggbert, our hefty egg friend who has outgrown his own home, and a thrilling finale that will leave you wanting more! The Mountsberg Raptor Centre is dedicated to raising awareness about the diversity of birds of prey, and the challenges they face due to human activity. Mr. Chris & The Gassy Bubbles

Virtual STEM Challenges

Join Mr. Chris & the Gassy Bubbles online for a program that nurtures and fosters children's imaginations. Families can expect to sing along, get musical and let loose during this virtual program. Participants will also learn how to use their bodies and imaginations to make puppets part of their everyday life.

Calling all kid scientists, builders, and tinkerers! We challenge you to try these weekly STEM activities using supplies that you have at home. A new challenge will be posted on our Blog and on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages every Friday afternoon. Share your creations with us on social media (@BramptonLibrary) and don’t forget to use the hashtag: #kidsatBL.

Pollinators: Small but Mighty 6-12 years

What are pollinators? Why are they important? Enjoy an interactive presentation all about butterflies, bees and other pollinators! Learn how to attract and support these species at home with pollinator-friendly gardening tips. This program is recommended for families with children ages 6 and up.

Write It Workshop Grades 4-8

In partnership with the Ripple Foundation, Brampton Library is offering a series of writing workshops for students in Grades 4 to 8. The program focuses on improving the writing skills of children through fun, interactive activities through which participants are encouraged to find their voice and gain confidence in their choices as a writer. In partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association, Peel Dufferin (CMHA), we will explore the difference between mental health and mental illness, some common stigmas associated with both, common signs and symptoms and share tips and resources to cope. Registration required. July 16

In partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association, Peel Dufferin (CMHA), we are pleased to present this online session about stress and anxiety.
