Every day I am grateful to be working in the cattle business and happy to extend a warm welcome for you to attend our 2nd Annual Production Sale. Whether you are local or have traveled a long distance, we truly appreciate you taking time to attend our sale and look forward to assisting you with your future Fleckvieh, Belted Galloway, or Scottish Highland needs. Most of you all will know me for raising Simmental (Fleckvieh) for over 36 years, but we have been involved with several different aspects of the cattle industry, with a 10 year commercial program, 15 years of raising registered Pinzgauers, 12 years with registered Belted Galloways, and just under five years for registered Scottish Highlands. We dispersed our Pinzgauer herd back in 2012. This year, I thought it would be interesting to highlight some of Four Starr Genetics other breeds in our Annual Production Sale. You will notice a few elite Belted Galloway and Highland heifers in the sale lineup, along with some semen from all four breeds. Our cattle are raised in the heart of the Ozarks under a fescue based forage and you will find are easy-keeping, fertile, fast gaining and efficient beef producing animals.

Sale Format

I was told years ago when I became a veterinarian, “practice good medicine and success is sure to follow.” I believe that is true in all aspects of life. I have strived hard to place that philosophy in breeding cattle. As you thumb through this lineup of cattle, you will ﬁnd a heavy emphasis on cow families as the base. Finally, I am a ﬁrm believer to produce outcross genetics that can be utilized by an array of different programs in our breed registries.

Herd Health

Our motto in the cattle business has been to have common sense and planned genetics to assure our customers the most predictable product possible. We have surrounded our program and laid a foundation with only the best and proven donor cows we could possible create and/ or ﬁnd. That nucleus of females we hope will produce functional and proﬁtable animals for our customers.

In an effort to reduce stress on the sale cattle and ourselves, all cattle will be videoed and sold by a live auctioneer off of the video on sale day. We invite you to come early and take your time going through the pens prior to the sale. All Four Starr cattle are from a certified free brucellosis and tuberculosis free state. The cattle have been vaccinated with IBR, BVD-2, PI3, BRSV(kld)-Vibrio-L5HB, BlackLeg Vision 7 & Pinkeye and treated with Long Range Injectable Dewormer and Corathon flytags. Missouri is officially classified as free of Brucellosis and TB. Cattle that will be crossing the border into Canada or Mexico will remain on the farm till proper health papers can be generated.

Great Guns Adria cow family

The Great Guns Adria cow family is difﬁcult to ﬁnd this close in a pedigree anymore. I purchased several embryos from the Kent Dollar dispersal and was lucky to obtain three heifers. You betcha, you guessed it they are powerful. I was always impressed how they took the Adria cow family which is a very growth oriented pedigree and mated them to very maternal lines such as Antonius and it worked like magic. These two polled females below are a phenomenal representation of the Adria line.

Riga has been a legend within Aldermere’s program and has produced National Champions, such as Aldermere Liza. Beautiful extension to her front end and at the top of her contemporaries. Shiralee Moonshine has always done a phenomenal job at producing show females that go on to be producers in the pasture.

• One of my favorites from last year’s calf crop. She exhibits lots of volume, depth of rib and is super fancy. Centerstage is put together extremely well and balanced with being correct on the move. I purchased her dam out of the Freyburg Fair years ago and she was the high seller and had an excellent show career with Ridgeview Farms. This heifer is for sure to follow in her dams footsteps. Centerstage is black but carries the red gene being sired by FSB Apollo. FSB Apollo was Junior Calf Champion at the NAILE.
