A Balanced Book
About A Balanced Font

As one can see, the letters of Balance have been consistently weighted twice as much on one side of the character than on the other. Therefore, they are not proportionately the same, but instead visually balanced. No special math equations were used to figure out the proportions, just a simple doubling of the pixels was all it took. Some say Balance has the appearance of a modern day femme fatale, both edgy and curvy. Balance keeps it simple, opting for a modern look that is sans serif, sans ligature, and sans decoration. This font could even be characterized as fututistic as it would look great in large scale on the side of a speeding spaceship or rocket.
A highly stylized typeface, Balance has
cross bars, shoulders and opposing
more than a few special characteristics
stems. One of the more unique
worth mentioning. Check out the way
attributes is the use of circles for some
the heavy stems and strokes meet up
of the anatomical parts of the capital A,
with lighter weighted cross strokes,
B, E, F, H, K, P, and R.
HIGHLIGHTS

Balance font is as the name implies...balanced. All the capital letters rest firmly on the baseline and stop neatly at the cap line. None of the lower case letters extend above or below the baseline or x-height, except for of course the letters that have descenders. Characteristically, the weight of the letters have been oppositely balanced to provide a purposeful contrast.

It can be difficult finding typefaces to pair with Balance as complimentary fonts. The three examples above do share at least one similarity such as a high contrast in weight, but that is about it. When concerned with aestheitcs, it might be better to compliment Balance with a contrasting typeface.

It can also be difficult finding typefaces to pair with Balance as contrasting fonts. The three examples above could be utilized as headings or body copy, but you might want to keep some distance between them as it may be neccessarily ideal.

Balance was originally conceived in 2012 with the use of Fonstruct, an online, pixel based typeface generator.
Currently, Balance has only
been used by one publication (and a digital one at that). That’s right, the font is so new that it has only made its way into a book about itself. But all things must start somewhere, and this is the start of balance.
