WELDING
FF WELDING FUNDAMENTALS
Learn and practice the basic welding processes most commonly used in industrial fabrication: Oxy-Fuel Welding, Brazing and Cutting along with Plasma Cutting, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, and Gas Metal Arc Welding (including Flux-Core Welding). Covers safety procedures, common shop procedures, welding tools and equipment, and welding drawing interpretation.

FF PIPE WELDING I: SMAW
Focuses on welding and fabrication skills used in building welded metal projects. Students will create a working drawing and bill of materials, factor in total costs and weight of their project, cut and tack-weld all components together, and make final welds to complete the job. Welding safety using various welding processes (GTAW, GMAW and SMAW) and safe shop practices will be discussed and demonstrated.
Tuition: $1698 | FastForward: $566 Instructor: Wiley Perry, Andrew Folsom Mon, 1:30-4:30 pm | Aug 24, 2020 – Jan 5, 2021 Sat, Sun, 9:00 am-4:00 pm | Aug 29– Oct 18, 2020
FF WELDING FABRICATION I: GMAW
Focuses on welding and fabrication skills used in building welded metal projects. Students will create a working drawing and bill of materials, factor in total costs and weight of their project, cut and tack-weld all components together, and make final welds to complete the job. Welding safety using various welding processes (GTAW, GMAW and SMAW) and safe shop practices will be discussed and demonstrated.

MACHINING
FF FUNDAMENTALS OF FABRICATION
This class is designed to introduce a student to machine tools and machining. Students will learn about precision measuring tools and how to use them, including: how to obtain precise measurements, how to read and understand mechanical drawings, what tolerances are and how a machinist makes parts within the specific dimensions.
Tuition: $897 | FastForward: $299 Instructor: Wayne Wampler Wed, Thu, 6:00-9:00 pm | Aug 26 – Oct 15, 2020 Wed, Thu, 6:00-9:00 pm | Nov 4, 2020 – Jan 13, 2021
FF MACHINE TOOL I
Fundamentals for manual machine tool practices for the lathe, mill, and drill press will be explained and demonstrated during this class. Topics include: machine tool safety, proper drilling speeds, and different types of drill bits and their coatings related to drill press operations. You will work side-by-side with your instructor to complete NIMS machining projects on new ProtoTrak machines
Tuition: $897 | FastForward: $299 Instructor: Staff Mon, Tues, 6:00-9:00 pm | Aug 24 – Oct 19, 2020 Mon, Tues, 6:00-9:00 pm | Nov 2 , 2020– Jan 5, 2021
FF MACHINE TOOL II
This class continues to explain the technical aspects of manual machine tool practices as they pertain to more advanced drill press operations, including job planning and management tasks, benchwork tasks, basic mathematics, applying the machinery’s handbook, basic measurement, basic machining theory, and layout. Students will complete a NIMS machining project working side-by-side with an instructor.
Tuition: $897 | FastForward: $299 Instructor: Brian Meek Wed, Thu, 6:00-9:00 pm | Aug 26 – Oct 15, 2020
FF MACHINE TOOL III: MILLING
This class provides an introduction to the manual milling machine. The student will learn about each part and function of the machine, machine tool safety, the different cutting tools and materials, as well as different milling operations and set up. Students will make milling projects from drawings using the machining skills learned during the class.
Tuition: $897 | FastForward: $299 Instructor: Brian Meek Wed, Thu, 6:00-9:00 pm | Nov 4, 2020 – Jan 13, 2021
FF TURNING OPERATIONS I: TURNING BETWEEN CENTERS
This intermediate level machining course will continue to explain turning operations on the manual lathe with the addition of detailed instruction in turning a part between centers. Many of the different turning operations that will be performed on the NIMS student project will be discussed and demonstrated - such as threading, knurling and parting.
