Regions and Ports/Terminals Building on the regions covered by Breakbulk’s annual events, we explore the world, analyzing leading markets, anticipating trending regions, and addressing the economic and political issues that shape these markets. As vital conduits, ports and terminals provide valuable perspectives to reaching these markets efficiently and effectively. Outlooks/Reviews Breakbulk is an invaluable resource for research, economics and industry perspectives. We explore the industry’s evolving logistics and supply chain management solutions, where innovation is a constant. Whether reporting on industry and government studies and white papers, or generating research in-house, Breakbulk provides the depth of content that decision makers require. Project Case Studies Breakbulk literally means thinking outside of the box, an industry where innovative, unique cargo solutions come with the territory. Each issue we provide the human element, the strategies and the solutions to the most complex challenges to complete a major project move. We report on all aspects of a move, providing the explanations behind every eye-catching picture. Cargoes/Commodities Ask anyone in the industry and they will agree that they are enthusiastic about their job because each unique cargo ensures no two days are the same. At Breakbulk, we share their fascination in the intricate planning and problem-solving required, examining the variables that drive multimillion-dollar projects.
BREAKBULK MEDIA
Energy Energy’s prominence in the project cargo and shipping industry cannot be underestimated, and Breakbulk magazine consistently focuses on both conventional energy – oil and gas, coal, nuclear – and the growing role of renewables – wind, solar and hydro or geothermal – and their expansive projects in existing and emerging world markets. Ocean Carriers Today’s carriers compete in world markets with incredibly diverse fleets to serve larger and increasingly complex cargoes. Forging complex relationships with shippers and forwarders, carriers deal with increasingly complex and stringent operating requirements. Road/Rail/Air Waterborne transit is not the only step in moving cargo from A to B. Many of the greatest challenges of a project cargo move happen between the port and the completion of the “last mile,” whether by sea, road, rail or air. Breakbulk looks at the companies and complexities involved in every step of the move.
Thought Leaders Breakbulk magazine brings together a range of experts to provide insights in each issue on best practices, regional perspectives, economics, political and environmental issues, and special commentaries. Read what our industry’s brightest minds are thinking and what it means to you. Technology and Equipment Breakbulk’s tools of the trade range from the most basic and time-honored strapping and bracing, to incredibly complex technological solutions. In each issue we look at the trends and research and development focused on maximizing the cost efficiency of every move while driving efficiencies and ensuring the health and safety of every participant. People Putting a face on the industry, we profile industry leaders, keep up on who’s going where, look at options for career advancement and development, and honor those who retire from long, rich careers. Come see the people that are Breakbulk! Unfulfilled Potential ■ Bridging Mozambique ■ China’s ‘Pearls’ Unstrung ■ MPV Rebound Cloudy
MARCH/APRIL 2015
Services and Vendors It takes a team to complete a project cargo move. A range of experts from a dizzying array of service providers, consultants and experts come into play from planning through execution, working in concert to bring the project to completion. Whether it’s insurance providers, surveyors, HSE management, or any number of other specialists, every individual has an integral role.
