RUARY 10, SATURDAY, FEB

2018 | 6:00 pm

Dear Friends, It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2018 Blue & Gold Bash—right here on our Breck campus! On behalf of our alumni community, Board of Trustees, and the entire staff at Breck, thank you for joining us. The Bash is an opportunity for us to celebrate all that we love about the Breck community, and hosting you on campus makes this celebration even more meaningful. Make no mistake— bringing the event here for the first time was no small feat. A group of passionate volunteers and staff members worked tirelessly to find the resources, space, and permissions to make this a reality. I want to extend a special thank you to the Bash committee who dedicated so much of their own time and resources to make this a truly special event. One of the things I love most about Breck is our unwavering commitment to serving the community. I love that our mission and values inspire us to teach our children to use their voices, talents, and gifts for a greater good. From a second grader reading to a resident at a senior living home, a fifth grader collecting food for Breck Scares Hunger, or a junior engaged in a communitybased math research project, you can find Breck students working off campus in support of others on any given day. This work is authentic and intentional, teaching students the depth and complexities of issues facing our society today and arming them with the skills to make positive and meaningful change. This work fuels our children and makes them feel whole. Yet, this work does not come without a cost. From the staff time needed to plan meaningful engagements, to the materials and resources used when we are on site, to the transportation expenses to get Breck students on location, this work requires a significant investment from our School, and we need your help. I hope you will join me with a gift to tonight’s Fund-A-Need and inspire a new generation of innovators and dreamers, philanthropists and leaders. Their journey has just begun and with your generous support, we can change the world. With gratitude,

Natalia Rico Hernández, Ed.D. Head of School
