DIRECTOR’S NOTES As the new Director of Theatre at Breck, getting to know the students was incredibly challenging this year, either because of the limitations of remote communication or the masks that kept our expressive faces largely hidden. This spring, we lacked the ability to safely stage a large musical. In its place, just as we did with the upper school students, we decided to let the students choose their own performances by producing this virtual cabaret. The students picked the songs they wanted to sing, they decided their own favorite comfy outfit to wear, and they shared their favorite Disney music with the Breck community. For my part, I got the chance to get to know these amazing students, and from the 5th graders just starting middle school this year to the 8th graders getting ready to move to the upper school, I’m excited to see “how far they’ll go.” Stay tuned for the announcement of the spring 2022 Middle School musical at the end of the virtual cabaret.
