1961-70
Brembo was founded in 1961 as a small mechanic’s workshop with a few employees. In 1964 Brembo manufactured the very first Italian brake discs with a team of just 28 employees.
1971-80
In 1972 Brembo produced its first motorcycle brakes, entering Formula 1 three years later with the Team Ferrari. In 1975 Brembo employed 146 people, with an annual turnover of €1.5 million.
1981-90
In 1980 Brembo produced the first aluminium brake caliper. In 1985 the Brembo staff totalled 335 employees, with an annual turnover of €26 million.
1991-00
In 1995, Brembo was listed on the Milan Stock Exchange, employing 1,115 people, with an annual turnover of €169 million and production facilities also in Spain and Mexico.
2001-14
During the first decade of the new millennium, Brembo progressively opened production centres in Brazil, India, Poland, the United States, China, Argentina and the Czech Republic. Brembo continues to expand, with a current annual turnover of €1,803 million (at 31 December 2014).

REMANUFACTURED CALIPERS At the Automechanika trade fair in Frankfurt Brembo launched an exciting addition to its range for the spare parts market: a comprehensive selection of remanufactured brake calipers. With over 4,000 codes compatible with more than 2,000 car models from 55 manufacturers, the new line covers 95% of all cars on Europe‘s roads. The new line of remanufactured calipers provides an attractive alternative to the traditional replacement, meeting exactly the same standards of quality and safety as brand new ones. The caliper remanufacturing process adheres to the same stringent technical standards as those applied to OEM calipers. The process involves testing and cleaning of the caliper, replacement of all worn parts and the application of a special anti-corrosion protective coating. After a final quality check the remanufactured caliper is given an identifying mark. The whole process gives Brembo customers the assurance that a Brembo remanufactured caliper will work as well a new one, providing the same level of quality and the same warranty.
As well as being cost-effective and reliable, remanufactured brake calipers are also an eco-friendly choice, consistent with the company‘s goal of reducing the environmental impact of its products and processes. In this case this is achieved by the recycling of the caliper body.
HYDRAULICS Brembo also offers a range of hydraulic products delivering maximum performance, reliability and safety levels. These qualities are now extended to the aftermarket, thanks to a truly complete product package:
