Objective of the position Provide coordination and leadership for gender justice change objectives, taking the lead in managing, setting and communicating overall country direction in gender justice providing leadership and ensuring teamwork on issues related to gender justice between all Oxfam affiliates in South Sudan. Work with the Country Leadership Team to define and support the implementation of Gender Justice programming, and strengthen Gender Mainstreaming in humanitarian response, sustainable livelihoods and public health, policy and advocacy. This involves long term programming as well as practical support to humanitarian response Main tasks Define and lead an Oxfam Gender Justice Programme for South Sudan To ensure women's rights and gender mainstreaming are part of decision-making throughout Establish and lead an Oxfam gender team consisting of Gender Focal Points for South Sudan and lead Oxfam collaboration and learning on gender equality and women’s rights Build effective, collaborative and accountable relationships between Oxfam affiliates and with their partners to identify joint opportunities, developing strategies and implementing programmes related to gender justice Identify new funding sources and negotiate funding opportunities within country to support programme implementation in gender justice change objectives Support in the review and implementation of the Joint Country Analysis and Strategy, including increasing women’s access to and control of resources and promoting and strengthening the decision–making power of women and poor men in the community Development, coordination and delivery of Gender Justice strategies in line with Oxfam’s vision Give technical advice to mainstream gender in long-term initiatives and humanitarian response Lead on process of implementation of Oxfam Minimum Standards on Gender in Emergencies Support Programme Managers and Gender Focal Points to participate in, or organize practical field based gender training – adapted through pre-training assessments Give on the ground technical support to field teams, including in humanitarian response Provide technical advice and support, build the capacity of staff and partners to focus on preventing and reducing Harmful Traditional Practices and other gender stereotypes Ensure the implementation, monitoring and assessment of gender justice Lead on developing and rolling out gender monitoring tools across the South Sudan programme Inform and influence wider Oxfam Gender Working Groups Develop and maintain professional networks, relationships with partners, agencies, government entities, civil society organisations and other relevant private sector or public organisations Play an active role in lobby and advocacy on issues related to programmes through personal contacts and co-ordination of allies Support colleagues on the review of Oxfam South Sudan assessment reports and activity reports to ensure gender issues are considered You Have an advanced level in development studies, gender and development or relevant field Are a gender specialist with at least 5 years experience in the practical implementation of a gender perspective to programs, both in humanitarian response as well as in long term development programs Have strong conceptual understanding of gender justice issues Have knowledge of and work experience in South Sudan

Have practical experience in doing gender analysis and the translation into program design, implementation and evaluation Have highly developed strategic planning skills Have experience in giving training and coaching on gender in a way that motivates others Are an excellent communicator who leads in building relationships and motivating and engaging others Are able to work independently as well as with others to achieve results Are able to influence policy and practice of other players Have strong conceptual and analytical skills with regard to gender justice issues Are able to identify opportunities for innovation and fundraising and implement them Have excellent written & spoken English skills Are able and willing to travel frequently
